*Abi POV*
When Omario kisses me, every fibre in my body awakens. His scent has me all mesmerised, I want more of him and now. As much as we both want this, we can’t proceed until our wolves are in on this too. After everything we have been through, I want us to do this right. Omario has tried talking to Titan but he is really mad and feels betrayed by Nina. Omario thinks I will have a better luck and hands him to me. An interaction with Titan is always comforting. He is stubborn and cocky when talking to Omario but all gentle and loving with me. Now that I can hear him, I think he is perfect and I am completely in love with him. Omario and Nina are not impressed when I run my hands on his fur and he groans like he always does. They feel left out and start complaining to each other.
“Are they always like this?” Nina asks.
“You mean getting engrossed in each other and forget that you exist?” Omario responds, amused.
“Yes!”
“Yah, that’s pretty much how they get.”
“Well, we won’t allow it. We are also part of this relationship, we can’t feel like orphans,” Nina says and Omario agrees with her.
“I completely agree with you.”
“Hey, you are quite levelheaded and hot.” I can hear a unmistakable seductive voice from Nina. This wolf!
Omario chuckles, intrigued. “You are pretty hot too and scary.”
“Oh! Thanks, Rio. I might just like you. Want to exchange wolves?”
Omario busts out in laughter. “The two of them are kind and irritatingly good. We will be really lost without them.”
“Argh! You are right, but they can’t continue like this.”
“Definitely.”
I roll my eyes at their resolution. It’s never been my intention to make Omario and now Nina to feel like outcasts. Titan and I just gel well together, but including everyone is something we have to work on. We can only do that if Titan forgives Nina, so I try to get him to do that. The four of us with one mind and goal would be indestructibly perfect and he knows it too. He is not as dismissive when I plead with him. Maybe the puppy eyes I gave him did the trick. He is not on board yet, but is willing to go for a run and talk to Nina.
I shift into Nina, who is surprisingly all red but no actual flames today.
“Maybe she becomes flames when upset,” I think to myself. I must remember to ask her about it later.
Nina starts acting really weird. Instead of running with Titan, who is ready for a splint, she’s just rubbing herself against him. Titan keeps moving away but Nina keeps getting near and rubbing herself against him.
I am confused for a moment until Omario comments.
“Come on, Titan. Can’t you see that the hottest wolf in the kingdom is in heat and wants only you?”
Oops, that went right over my head. I really have a lot to learn about this bond thing. Nina is shamelessly rolling over and rubbing herself against Titan who is not the least impressed.
“She’s gonna have to apologise and beg me for it,” Titan responds.
Nina rolls her eyes at him. She’s so rebellious this wolf of mine!
“I’m pretty hot, keep up with this attitude and you will lose me,” Titan warns. It’s cocky but funny as hell.
I can’t help but laugh. I don’t know if Nina even knows the word please or sorry. She’s gonna have to learn fast because Titan has a lesson to teach her while in heat.
“Im pretty hot too. If will literally take me a second to get any wolf to cool me down,” Nina threatens.
“Why don’t you go ahead and find one?” Titan dares her.
This is gonna be interesting to watch.
“Titan! You really hate me. I should have never shown up,” Nina is now sulking with misty eyes but Titan is not buying it.
“Nice try, Mate. You will apologise appropriately.” Titan stands his ground.
“Huh! I like your human better now,” Nina exclaims and Omario is thrilled. Titan still does not buy it.
“He is me and I’m him, your point?”
“Fine. I will apologise,” Nina concedes but does not proceed.
“Yes?” Titan won’t let her off easy.
“I need to see what you got first. If you are worth my apology,” Nina changes her strategy and says defiantly.
“Seriously?”
Titan takes the words right out of my mouth. Nina is really stubborn.
“I have to know that you are worth….” Nina does not complete her sentence because Titan gets so close to her and their fur touch. “Oh! Boy! You are hot!” she exclaims.
“Of course I am.”
I am not used to this cocky side of Titan.
“You are all strong and majestic, so fluffy, kind and really sexy. Our pups will be the wonder of the world, you know?” Nina is doing her best to flutter Titan but he is not making this easy for her.
“Not an apology,” he says with a straight face.
“I love you, Titan.”
“Still not an apology.” Titan maintains his straight face.
“Oh! Come on, Titan. You would have forgiven Abi already by now!” Omario exclaims.
“Abi will never try to kill me or you for that matter,” Titan is not budging. Nina has no choice but swallow the humble pie.
“I am so sorry for trying to kill you. I was just trying to get rid of Omario because he denied our bond and hurt Abi, but I should have never tried to kill both of you. It will never happen again, because Abi said if I killed you, we will also be buried right next to you,” Nina pleads.
“Is that the only reason you won’t try again?” Titan is really being tough with Nina, I’m also feeling sorry for her now.
Nina is now speechless.
“I was angry with Omario too, Nina. I helped you avenge Abi, but you turned and stabbed me on my back,” Titan continues.
He does not sound cocky anymore. I can feel the hurting in his voice and Nina can too.
“I am so sorry, T. Please forgive me. I will never betray you again, you have my word. Please don’t be mad.”
Nina sounds sincere for the first time since the conversation started and that actually melts Titan.
“You are right, our pups will be magnificent,” Titan says, making all of us laugh. We, unfortunately, can’t proceed with our mating because Terrence walks in to inform us that the kingdom is in chaos.
“Can’t you and Luna Nala solve the issue?”I ask. I don’t know what’s going on with me, I’m suddenly feeling really hot.
“No. This is serious and the people want to hear from both of you,” Terrence explains. We have no choice but put our mating on hold and go face the multitudes who have congregated in the castle courtyard.
Prophet Rufus starts explaining that the HAZE is upon us. We all know from stories what it is. An extreme force that happens once in five decades that pulls mates together. It explains Nina’s behaviour with Titan earlier. It also explains why I’m drenched in sweat and Omario’s scent is all I can concentrate on.
Omario stands behind me, wraps his arms around me and kisses my neck. We are in public with over hundred people looking at us for solutions, but I can’t mask my moan.
He chuckles and stands so close behind me, I can feel his heart beating. He is enjoying every minute of this.
“The HAZE is a good thing, the kingdom might even be blessed with more pups. What seems to be the problem?” Omario asks mischievously and kisses my neck again, but the people are not impressed.
“Frode announced us to be mated to our spouses, but we are pulled to other people,” someone shouts and everything now makes sense.
“The sneaky bastard told me that he was paid to announce my mate to Lurk,” someone else shouts. Lurk was one of Alpha Theo’s disgusting friends. We were all very surprised when he found his third chance mate less than a week after his third wife’s funeral.
I knew that Frode was fraud! I wonder how many couples he did this to.
“Where is Frode now?” Omario asks the Prophet.
“He ran away when the people attacked him, Your Highness,” Rufus explains. “It seems he took bribes to lie to certain people about whom they were mated to. He was my apprentice, I should have kept an eye on him,” he adds.
“We were deceived into marrying the wrong people by someone the throne declared as the prophet. What should we do now?” an angry voice shouted from the crowd.
“Tell us what to do!” another one shouts. Soon, I can’t even see who is shouting what.
“Let your senses and wolf’s guide you to your mates. We will sort out the rest after the HAZE,” I instruct and Omario chuckles before nibbling on my earlobe, sending electric impulses throughout my body. The people are angry and he is amused. I can’t believe this man!
“What about the lives we have built with our spouses?” a frustrated voice asks.
“Decide which one matters more. Your rightful mates or the fake life you’ve been living.”
I know it’s not fair considering they were tricked into this, but I am really burning up and can’t stand here any longer. I don’t even wait to see how they receive my response. I untangle myself from Omario’s arms and run back to his chambers, where I strip off my clothes and run into a cold shower. I feel so hot, the cold water should help, but it makes it worse.
“You know that’s not going to help, right?” Omario asks.
I did not hear him walk in but I knew he was there because his scent told me.
“Why are you not affected by this?” I now feel like my skin is going to fall off my bones, yet he looks so chilled.
He chuckles and offers me his hand. “Come make love to your irresistible mate, Abigail.”
I literally run to him. He picks my up and heads towards his bed where he gently lays me down. My heart is already pounding with anticipation when our lips meet into a passionate kiss.
