Loving Little Miss Bloodsucker Chapter 24

The moment I learned about his mother's identity, I couldn't help but deny it to myself. I don't want to think of her mom in a bad way, and she already passed away years ago, so who am I to have a right to hate her?

I deeply sighed before I kept all the documents I asked from Luke, and even he looked so confused by what I did. Not to mention that sudden shift in my mood, which makes him even more suspicious about what I realized upon reading the documents.

"Did you just find anything suspicious?" He asked in a calm way.

I looked him in the eye and shook my head.

"I see nothing," I said shortly.

But how come Cooper didn't say anything to me? Or he didn't know about it until now?

Lots of questions popped into my head upon discovering this matter about a member of his family. I don't want to suddenly get cold towards him, but I want to know something about it.

Was all of this on purpose, or is it all a coincidence?

I kept thinking about it until Rylie softly tapped my shoulders, and when I looked at her, she looked like she was keeping herself from laughing.

"I didn't know you were such a sentimental kiddo," she said as she pointed at the pictures I put in the frame. Those are the pictures I just arranged a while ago.

"It's romantic to look at, Adi," Maureen commented while smiling at all the pictures. She already knew my nickname, huh? Maybe Luke has been talking to her lately.

I tried to distract myself from thinking about it and just asked them if we could cook together, and they all agreed except for Luke, who didn't like the idea of what I wanted to do. I know he's not convinced by my answer from moments ago, but I still don't want to let him know about it until I'm pretty sure about it.

I need to be sure first.

While we're cooking a simple pasta recipe, Rylie keeps talking about how the university has been going lately since there's an upcoming event that will be held for a week. She's an active officer in the student council, so she's a bit busy among all of us.

"You should handle all the registration for the horror house, Maureen!" She said this to Maureen, and she just got an immediate decline from her.

"I'll be busy covering stories and interviews for the school newspaper, so maybe I'll pass," she said politely, declining Rylie's offer.

"Then let me check the headlines first before your club publishes the story, okay?" Rylie asked for a favor.

Maureen just smiled at it and continued to cut the meat for the pasta. When they are already finished cutting all the ingredients, I prepare the pan and cook the sauce at the same time I prepare to boil the pasta. Fifteen minutes later, we finally served the food, along with a salad that Maureen had made while I was cooking the pasta.

We were already enjoying ourselves when I heard the elevator from afar open. Someone's making their way into our penthouse, and I know exactly who it is. I can sense him now since the antidote that Luke gave me is already wearing off in my body.

Hold on, I never noticed how he went outside.

Cooper came in, but the moment I saw how his face looked so pissed off, I backed off and just watched him go straight to his room. I bet he noticed the four of us, but based on what I saw, I think he's a bit preoccupied to even greet us.

"Did something happen?" Luke immediately asked me.

I shrugged my shoulders. I don't know a thing about what just happened. I don't even know where he went this time. He didn't even stop by to tell me where he was going, and now he's just gone home. I'm totally unaware.

"You should check up on him, Dee," Rylie said with a concerned tone.

"I'll just let him go on his own for now," I said as I finished eating my food.

Another hour has passed, and all we did was catch up with everything that happened in the past week. But then every time I have the time, I will look in the direction where his room is just to check if he'll go out and look for something to eat at least.

I don't know what's going on, but my gut tells me that something's wrong with him, and I need to figure it out. We were okay earlier; I just hope nothing bad is going to happen.

It was almost 11 o'clock in the evening when they decided to go home. Luke never forgot to inject the serum on me, and while Rylie and Maureen headed to the bathroom, he finally spoke about us.

"It seems like something's bothering your husband," he said in a stern voice.

"Yeah, I can notice that," I replied back.

"Also," Luke said, stopping for a moment and taking a glance at the briefcase he gave me.

"What?" I asked.

"I know you found something, but please don't go investigate it all by yourself," he said, sounding so serious that it eventually made me nod.

The girls came back from the bathroom, and Luke stood up already to tell them that they should be going now. Just then, I suddenly noticed how Luke reached for Maureen's arms. I smiled at the thought of it and just watched them get out of the penthouse.

When they were already gone, I looked again in the direction of his bedroom door and sighed. I prepared the leftover pasta we had and put it on a plate for him. It's the least I can do for him after I saw how pissed he was a while ago.

I walked toward the front of his door and knocked three times before I opened it. He's not around, but I can hear the shower in his bathroom, so I just went towards his bed to sit. I was about to sit down when I noticed a bunch of papers on his bed.

It's all newspapers, and based on the look of them, they're all old and dusty. I picked one, but the moment I picked it up, Cooper held my wrist so tight that it made me wince a little.

"I'm a bit hurt," I said when I tried to look at him in the eye, but then his gaze on me got me a bit scared as I could see nothing in his expression.

Did I do something wrong?

"Don't touch anything," he said in a serious voice.

I tried to get his hands off my wrist, but he was too strong.

"I just wanted to invite you to eat some --"

I'm interrupted as he pulls me towards the door, and as he opens it, he slightly pushes me outside and drops my wrist.

"Don't get in here for now."

What did I just do now?
