CHAPTER 12.
KATE.
"Why are you thinking badly about her?" Kyle scolded.
"I’m sorry, Kate," she apologized. "Please forgive me. I should not have thought like that. I was wrong, and I'm sorry,"
"There’s no need to apologize, Tina. We are friends," I replied. To be honest, I think I did hug you a little too tightly. My bad about that. I’m also sorry,"
"Enough of your girls' talk," Kyle said. "Tomorrow is Kate's birthday, Tina. Since you just became one of Kate's friends, I think we should celebrate together with her,"
"No! I don’t think that will be necessary," I blurted out, "Besides, I won't be throwing a party. Just a small dinner at home. Not something to invite people over for,"
Why was he inviting her? I shouldn’t have stayed behind to celebrate my day with him. I regret my actions. Why did he tell this bitch? I hope I succeeded in talking her out of coming.
"But why? Well, you don’t have to stress yourself. "Even if you won't be throwing a party, you still have to hit the mall to get some nice clothes for yourself. I can't wait," Tina said.
I made a few more attempts to reject her offer, but she kept forcing it on me, and then Kyle got involved. He asked me to get some nice and pretty dresses, and he was going to drive us to the mall after school.
I eventually accepted the offer. Everyone was staring at us when we walked in together. Tina held my hand and led me to the class.
"You will be sitting here with me," she said, smiling.
Somehow, I realized what it was she wanted to achieve from this sudden niceness of hers. She’s thinking of separating me and Kyle. Keeping me sitting next to her would ensure I'm never next to him. We will be sitting far away from him.
"Why are you making her sit here with you?" Kyle asked. "Her desk is next to mine,"
"Stop being jealous of us, darling," she replied. "She’s my friend, and she should sit beside me. After all, Cassie isn’t coming to school today. So, my darling Kate will be sitting here with me today,"
She kept arguing with him about where I should sit until the teacher stepped in. I ended up sitting beside her. Throughout the class, Kyle kept staring at me. I miss sitting with him.
The bell for lunch rang and the teacher left the class.
"Let’s go for lunch, Kate," Kyle insisted, ignoring his girlfriend.
"Okay, Wait a minute. "I need to pack my things inside my bag,"
"Why are you not inviting me?" Tina asked. "Am I not your girlfriend?"
"Oh, sorry! I forgot you are here," he uttered. "You can come as well if you want,"
"Sure. You guys should wait for me. I need to pack my things," she whispered.
"I'm done. We can go now," she said, after a few minutes."
After Tina finished packing her bag, we headed to the cafeteria to eat.
"What would you like to eat?" Kyle asked me.
"I’m okay with anything," I replied. "I'm not a picky eater,"
Kyle didn't bother asking Tina, and she didn't whine about it either. She went ahead to order a lot of food that she could hardly finish. I wonder why she isn’t afraid of being overweight. I started eating my food in peace. It was hard. Tina didn't stop talking while eating.
"Kate, can I invite Cassie and the rest to your birthday?" She asked.
"I don’t think there will be a need to do that," I replied, forcing a smile. I’m so angry. First, it was her, and now she wants to invite her friends to my house in the name of celebrating my birthday with me.
"But they won’t mind coming," she responded. "What do you think, Kyle?"
"Can you stop being such a nuisance with your questions?" Kyle yelled. "Is she friends with them? Why will she invite some strangers to her home? I regret asking her to be your friend,"
"I’m sorry," She whispered, "I was only looking out for her. I thought she would have more fun if we invited them,"
"Will you shut your fucking mouth, Tina?" He cried out. "Just shut your trap and stop behaving like we are bullying you here. Stop playing the victim over nothing,"
"It’s okay, Kyle. You can invite them, Tina," I said. "I don’t mind you inviting them,"
"Really, Kate?" she asked in fake cheer. "Thank you. I can’t wait to celebrate your day with you,"
I started eating silently. I could see her smirking from the corner of my eye. She thinks she's wise. I won’t mind teaching her some lessons if she dares to cross her boundaries.
After school. Kyle drove us to the mall as promised. He stopped and packed at the mall's packing space. Of course, Tina tagged along. She rushed out and happily stormed in.
"This is what she knows how to do best," Kyle complained. "She's always happy whenever I take her out to shop or eat dinner."
Kyle and I followed Tina inside. She had already chosen a lot of dresses.
"Come here, Kate," she called me immediately after she saw me. "Come take a look at this dress,"
I walked up to her, and she gave me a super short, sexy dress.
"What should I use it for?" I asked, giving the dress back to her.
"This is the dress I picked for you," she said. "It’s going to fit you perfectly,"
"I don’t need it," I muttered. "This isn’t the type of stuff I wear. I don’t wear this type of dress,"
"Don’t be like that. You deserve to wear a fancy and sexy dress," she said. "You will be wearing this on your birthday,"
"No, let’s choose another dress," Kyle said. "This cloth is too revealing, and she doesn’t like wearing something like this,"
"But this dress is so hot," she whined.
"It's her birthday, not yours. She's entitled to choose her dress,"
"Thank you, Kyle." I smiled at him.
I walked around the mall. I kept searching and checking the dresses.
"Which one are you choosing?" Tina asked.
"This! I will be choosing this," I pointed at a dress. It was red. It was not too long, nor was it too short. It would fit perfectly. It was one hundred percent my style.
"You mean you will be choosing this ugly long dress?" She sneered.
I didn't care how she bad-mouthed the beautiful dress that I chose. I still chose to buy it. I wanted to pay for the dress, but Kyle insisted on paying.
Tina was rather distracted. She kept selecting different and expensive clothes. She was determined to buy all the clothes in the shop. If she keeps up with choosing and choosing, she’s going to empty the shop in no time.
"I guess I bought a lot of things," she said. "I’m sorry, baby. You know I love to shop for beautiful things. I get excited and get carried away easily with this kind of thing,"
"I keep wondering if you are the one who wants to celebrate your birthday," Kyle said. "Kate chose a dress, while you chose to buy everything inside the mall. Who asked you to choose all this?
"What do you mean? Don’t I deserve all this? Am I not your girlfriend?" She asked. "I deserve to spend your money the way I want,"
"I agree with you that you are my girlfriend. Of all the things you bought, did you bother to select some clothes for me?"
"What are you talking about? Don’t tell me you don’t have any clothes at home. You do not need to buy any,"
"Haha!" Kyle laughed hard. "I won’t argue with you. Since you chose to buy all this for yourself, you must have money to pay for the things you bought,"
"Don’t be selfish, Kyle," she screamed. "Don’t you dare!"
"You're the selfish one, sweetie," he said as he yanked her hand away. "And don’t you dare scream at me,"
"Can you people please stop arguing?" I interfered. "Can you just pay and let’s get out of here?"
"I won’t pay for all this," he replied. "I can only pay if she chooses just one dress,"
"Just one dress?" She asked. "Did I follow you here just for you to buy me a dress?"
Why is she talking as if someone forced her to follow us? She was the one who asked me to go shopping. I still have a lot of clothes at home.
"No one forced you to come here," he murmured. "Take one or nothing. Choose."
"Okay! I will be choosing some for my friends as well since I am inviting them to Kate’s birthday," she said.
