Kaiwan closed the laptop and Zuriña adjusted her face mask as someone barged into the rooftop and Kaiwan frowned on discovering who it was.
"How did you know?"
Victor ran his tongue around his lower lip, slightly revealing his fangs.
"Oh well, that doesn't matter." He said when no one replied him. "Were you planning on doing something amazing after stealing that?A great American police officer..."He turned to her. "...with the purebloodedvampire, Miss Zuriña Anderson."
As she expected, he knew who she was.
"Even if you were in disguise, the network we've built for over ten years is beyond your imagination." He said as he slid in a cigarette into his mouth before he lit it.
"Hand it over, Kaiwan Miller. I'll let you go if you do."
"I heard you're new here. You've got some balls for speaking like that to the team leader you've been following...Sexual assault, kidnapping, money laundering, manipulation of the public opinion...you conveniently erased traces of them all." Zuriña said.
"The red bomb club wasn't just a vampire's play-ground. It was advertised as a bunker for people to be safely protected until the morning, which gathered a great number of people. But once they all lowered their guard, they were eaten. But there hasn't been a single article released about the club. Isn't that suspicious?... I had hoped the chief was promoted through her own efforts but it was because of you puppets. Anyway, with this..."He paused to raise his laptop.
"...evidence of your collaboration with the chief, I'll eradicate the vampires."He said and Victor swipped out his pistol and shot at the laptop, destroying it.
A smile crossed his lips as he tilted his head.
"Oh no, looks like it's gone now." He said and Kaiwan took out the USB drive from his pocket.
"Did you really think I wouldn't make a copy?" He chuckled and returned it before he could think of doing anything to the drive.
"You asked us earlier how we knew it was you, right? You weren't the only one who did a background check. I looked into your history as well...No one knows what brands of cigs I smoke, you should have done a better job." He said and Zuriña scoffed at his silly mistake.
"Miss Zuriña, did you see the detective that was standing next to me?" He'd asked her while she'd been standing on the rooftop.
"Yeah."
"I've had suspicions about him for a while. Let's break into the chief's office, then look up on him tonight."
"I'll lure him to the roof. He'll reveal his identity if there's no one else around."She'd replied, more than glad to have been given the task.
"And that's how you fell for our trap." Kaiwan said and tossed a pair of cuffs which he caught.
"Put it on yourself."
He lowered his head with a scoff. "Fuck, I'll be dead if I get caught and even if I'm not, I'll die in three years anyway..."He slowly raised his head to glare at them. "You think I'm crazy to turn myself in."
"I don't want to hurt you, so I suggest...you put them on." Zuriña said, with a murderous glare as she pulled down her face mask
Fear was written all over his face and Zuriña smiled inside of herself. He was afraid.
"Okay, fine." He sighed.
"Good call. It's good that you're turning yourself in but don't expect to have your sentence reduced for old times sake." Kaiwan said and as Victor made to slip it on, his hand went to the back of his jeans and he took out a taser.
"Detective, watch out." She screamed but it was too late.
Kaiwan got tasered on the left abdomen and staggered back. Victor taking advantage of the situation, raced off the rooftop.
She hurried over to his side and he looked like he was coming to his senses a minute later. "Detective, are you okay?" She asked.
"After him..." He groaned.
"Detective..."
"It's a vampire."Someone on the street screamed and she bit her lip, cursing inwardly.
"I'll be right behind you."He turned to look at her and said.
There was no time to waste.
She rose to her feet."I'll be going first, Detective."
"Mmm." He replied and she turned to go after him.
She soon caught up with him, while running and decided to get ahead of him and lure him to a deserted area. If she attacked him then and there, people would get hurt.
A smile crossed her lips when she realized he was heading to somewhere spacious, but the smile soon faded when she realized where he was actually headed for.
"Wait, that's..."
The noise from the protesters got clearer and Victor stopped running and went into the crowd.
"The government and police shouldn't turn from their citizens." A civilian screamed
"Stand firm." The others echoed.
"We want to live."
"Shit. I didn't think he would do this." She muttered.
There were too many people.
Attacking there would cost many lives and she didn't want to be responsible for that.
"We don't want to live with demons."
"Hunt the vampires."The chanting increased.
"What do I do?" She wondered.
He threw her a look which dared her to make a move.
People will get hurt because of me.
"Why didn't you save me?" She recalled Father's yelling to her in her nightmare.
"Father, what do I do? I know that people will get hurt because of me."
She couldn't save Father.
"Miss Zuriña, I'm here... Zuriña." She heard Kaiwan say from the radio earpiece.
"I don't have the confidence..."She said to herself.
If she wasn't a vampire...
"Where did that scary pureblood go? Just sit there like a little bitch while I go find what I came for." He yelled out despite the noise and she clenched her fist.
"Everyone move." She heard Kaiwan say behind her and she gritted her teeth down her jaw and hit her fist against the ground and everywhere shook violently, causing people to run.
"What the..."
"Something exploded." She heard someone say.
"Is anyone hurt?"
"Everyone's safe."
"What's that? I can't see a thing because of the smoke." Victor said.
"Everyone, stay back."
"What happened?"Someone asked as the smoke died down and fear gripped everyone as they realized who she was.
"That's..."
"It's a vampire." A woman shrieked and she could see the terror in Victor's face.
"Why're you just sitting there like a little bitch? That scary pureblood is right here."She said, a murderous grin on her face.
