PUREBLOOD Chapter 39

Her craving for blood increased that night as she headed to the garage just in time to spot the detective walking up to her and a smile crossed her lips as he neared her.

"Miss Martin."

"Detective, what brings you here?" She asked and he looked around with a sigh.

"I came here to investigate a trespassing case."

She lowered her fingers to her lip. "I see...but we seem to be meeting each other frequently. Do we have some kind of connection?"

The smile on her lips faded on hearing a scoff behind her and she turned to see the pureblood.

"Connection, my ass. We've learnt everything about you, Ash. It's a familiar name, isn't it?...but I think I bet this name is even more familiar..."She paused. "...Julian Scott."

This little bitch. How dare she?

She cracked her fingers and her claws elongated. "Did you say your name was Zuriña?...It's time for you to die."

Zuriña slowly walked up to her.

"We found the documents of the Generosity orphanage which no longer exist. It turns out that Ariel Martin and you, Julian grew up in the same orphanage. You were just like a family but you killed Ariel to steal her life,am I right?"

"What?"

She smiled. "Your act of being someone who helps others in need while in reality being someone who killed and stole another person's life. What would happen if people knew about this?"

She was trying to provoke her, Kaiwan thought to himself. That was good though, the sooner they put an end to this, the better.

Her eyes changed to red. "Based on what evidence are you saying this?"

"Don't you feel guilty having to live with the face of your friend Julian? Did you think you could get away with this?" Zuriña asked and he watched Ash twirl her hand behind her. Suddenly the security cameras exploded and the power was cut off.

What was going on? He wondered as he was surprised to see there was no functioning camera in the garage. Did she just destroy all the cameras in the garage by just twirling her hand? And was she really going to fight Zuriña right there?

"So I was just spouting some nonsense but with how you reacted, there seems to be some truth behind it."

"Shut up." She spat.

"How did you become a messenger with that face?" Zuriña taunted.

"Shut the fuck up." She yelled and sped over to attack her.

He turned to see the elevator backup come back on and he raced over to the elevator control panel in the garage before hitting it. It would be a disaster if anyone came down there at that time.

The entire garage shook and he held the elevator frame to prevent him from falling to the ground and he turned to see Zuriña was avoiding Ash attacks instead of retaliating. "How does it feel like to live in the skin of Ariel Martin?"

"What are you doing, Zuriña?" He muttered. They had already succeeded in making Ariel reveal she was Ash but why was Zuriña still taunting her?

"Shut up..."Ariel screamed and made to hit her but succeeded in smashing the wall.

The elevator made a sound and he turned to look at it in fear, knowing he wouldn't be able to hold them for much longer.

"I'll kill you..." His head whipped to see Ash try to plunge her arm through Zuriña's body but she gave her a punch which sent crashing into one of the pillars with a loud noise.

Zuriña walked over to her and didn't look surprised when Ash's disguise wore off.

"I knew it." She said and he ran over to see what was going on.

"This wasn't Ash?" He was surprised to see it was a security man.

"I have...no regrets." The man coughed up blood and he looked down to see Zuriña had clenched her fist.

"Anyway...tomorrow everything...will end."

"What will happen tomorrow?" She asked and the man coughed up more blood before he died.

"Hey, I asked you a question." She screamed.

"He's dead, Zuriña"He said noticed something in his ear and he slowly crouched to pick it and examine it.

"He had a hidden camera."

"Someone has been watching us." Zuriña sighed.

"I didn't know she could alter appearances too. This could be a serious pain."

The elevator made a weird sound and Zuriña ran her fingers through her hair.

"We should leave."

The sun was bright up in the sky, the next morning and the weather was great for a walk. He exhaled as he walked into town that money. He'd seen Zuriña had been restless since the previous night and he had suggested they take a walk around hoping to calm her nerves down until he turned to see her looking blank.

"Still thinking about what he said?" He asked.

"I just can't help it, detective. I tried to figure out their plans last night but I didn't stumble any useful information, neither did I find anything from the messenger side."

He was surprised. "You researched the messenger too?...What could we have been missed then?" He asked and walked a few steps before he noticed she was looking down at her hands.

"Is something wrong?"

"It's...I just feel ashamed in front of these people. All that's happening happening right now...I feel it's my fault."

So that was what this was about.

"It could be..." She looked up at him, sadness written in her eyes and he smiled. "...but nothing has been revealed yet. Even if you're the origin of a vampires, it's the vampires that are the guilty ones not you." He paused to pat her on the face cap she had over her face. "...so don't blame yourself too much for this."

"You said you have something to confess to the world..."

Kaiwan turned to where it was coming from and was shocked beyond words to see Ash disguised as Zuriña on the screen of a tv, hung on a building across the road.

"Yes..."

"Then can you say it now?" The reporter asked.

Everyone's attention went up to the screen and he wondered what Ash was up to.

"I'm a...vampire."
