After dinner, the alpha called a meeting in his office for the named ranked members, the royal gamma, Trevor and me. The alpha updated Trevor and my cousin on the prisoner the warriors took into custody the yesterday. He has been sitting in the dungeons. Alpha Connor wanted to wait until after the holiday dinner to talk to the prisoner. Trevor updated everyone on the efforts to unit the kingdom and the restructuring of the regions. Many of the young alphas and betas are using this time away from the academy to build new alliances for the kingdom and inform the alphas of the upcoming war and hostile takeover attempt that has been secretly happening. Trevor also told us about uniting with the other species. Gamma Maurice told our pack how Trevor’s team were the ones who came up with the comprehensive plan to secure the kingdom, unite the species and form regions surrounding the stronger packs and keeping the smaller packs protected. The plan also uses the peaceful pack as a point of relief for the warrior packs. The peaceful packs will supply aide and temporary shelter as needed and receive the protection of the alliance in return. Their warrior will also get to train with the other packs so they can better defend their packs until help arrives. So far most packs have agreed to the restructuring plan and like the idea of connecting to the other species.
“Son, I am so proud of you.” Alpha Connor says. “You have come a long way in such a short time.”
“Thanks dad.” Trevor says
I can see that Trevor really has grown. Even my dad gave Trevor a smile.
‘Trevor has done what not a lot of cadets at the academy can. He has impressed me, the royal beta and the Alpha King. We all thought he was going to be this spoiled self-center alpha brat, but he came in to the academy ready to learn from his mistakes and be a better alpha. I wanted to hate him for hurting my cousin, but I can see that he is truly remorseful and focused on protecting the kingdom. Now, we have not announced this, but since there is a real threat and all of the cadets at the academy have been immersed in dealing with this threat, they have all shown that they have what it takes to be the next generation of leaders, we will be having a secret graduation for them the week before Christmas. We are keeping it secret because we still need the cover of them being in the academy to keep moving our plans forward. Trevor will be traveling between the academy and my cousin’s location as our plan progresses. Seleste, are you going to be ok with working closely with Trevor?” Maurice asks.
“Trevor and I have been friends since birth. We had a glitch in our friendship, but Tamaska and I have forgiven him and hope that we can rebuild our friend to a good level, so no, it won’t be a problem for me. Even if I hadn’t forgiven him, this is bigger than him and I, so I would have just dealt with it.” I say.
I can see that Trevor now has tears in his eyes. My father and alpha Connor are looking at me with pride. I guess I just showed them I can put on my big girl panties and handle business.
“Thank you Seleste for giving me this chance to earn your friendship back. I promise I won’t let you down and I pledge to work with you and the team and do all I can to keep you and the kingdom safe.” Trevor says.
“Thanks Trevor. I believe that you will be successful in pulling everything together.”
I shock everyone by reaching over and giving Trevor a hug. He freezes for a second and then return the hug. I feel a new bond forming between Trevor and I. Not a mate bond, but a bond similar to what I have with my inner circle. Trevor must have felt it too. He takes a deep breath. I can see many different emotions pass his face. First surprise, then excitement, then disappointment and finally acceptance.
“He thought the mate bond was reforming, but Convel told him that it’s a familiar bond, not the mate bond. Convel and I explained to him that he is bonded to us as part of our inner circle. He was sad but accepts his role in our lives now.” Tamaska says.
“Now that we’ve done the housekeeping, lets talk about the scumbag who was following my baby girl.” My dad says.
The shifter was kept in the dungeon. So far, he has not said anything. They agreed to let me come with them. I had to promise to let dad and alpha do the talking. They don’t want to take any chances with me revealing myself to them if they don’t know who I am already. Maurice is going to listen, but not show himself. They don’t want to highlight our relationship with the Royal pack just yet. Trevor will be there as the future alpha. I will there in my role as the future gamma.
As we start walking to the dungeon, Tamaska tells me that we maybe able to pick up some of his toughs and may even be able to read his mind. I link my dad to let him know what Tamaska said. My dad is going to rile him up so that he projects his thoughts.
When we walk into the cell area, the shifter just looks at us. He is not planning to talk at all. I can tell he is committed to their cause.
“So what are you, the welcome committee?” The shifter asked.
“Why were you following my pup?” My dad asks.
“Who was following anyone? I was just out for a run with friends before you all attached me.”
So you just haven’t to be running around a private airfield and running unto private pack lands just for fun?” Alpha Connor asks.
“Oh wow, you all pulled out the big guns and called in the alpha. I feel special.”
“Why were you trespassing on my pack land? You do know that I could kill you for less?
“Do what you feel you need to do alpha?”
Trevor stands up and walks next to his dad.
“Oh so now you bringing in the young alpha? I really feel special.”
“You need to watch yourself. I would have no problem killing you,” Alpha Connor says
“And yet, I am still here and alive.” The shifter smirks.
“I’m going to ask you one last time, why were you following my pup and her friends?” My dad asked
The shifter just looked at my dad and smirked
“How do you know I wasn’t following you?”
“then why were you following any of us?” My dad says grinding his teeth.
“Gamma, I think he needs a little persuasion to talk.” Trevor says.
“I’d like to see you try you mutt.”
Trevor walks towards him, but my dad and alpha Connor holds him back.
“Don’t let him get to you son. Let’s start the fun part.” Alpha Connor says.
Well T, I guess we will go and let the boys have fun.”
“We’ve gotten what we needed from him anyway.” Tamaska says,
I link my dad to let him know that I am leaving for this part and that Tamaska was able to get some information from his thoughts. I walk out of the dungeon and find my mom and the luna waiting.
“I guess the bays want to play with him a little.” The luna says.
“Yep. I figure I would excuse myself so that they don’t have to hold themselves back.” I said.
We walk back to the back house and wait for them to finish. I let my mom and the luna know that Tamaska was able to gather information from his thoughts. Mom and luna tried to get me to tell them the information, but I’m not getting into it until the men are present.
After about an hour, the alpha links us and asks everyone to meet in his office. The men walk in looking a little frustrated.
“He did not provide much information. All we got was that he was told to watch our pack.” The alpha said. “What did you get Seleste?”
“Tamaska was able to tap into his thoughts. He does not know who I am, but a source has told them that there is something special about me. Several groups have been tasked with watching me and trying to take me if they get the chance. They work in small groups. Only the leaders know the members of the other teams. This group was on a recon mission. They want to know our vulnerabilities. Someone told them that I have been training with different packs and other species. So far, they don’t know about my abilities. That was as much as this one knew.”
“So that means they have an inside source who is aware of your traveling, but not in our inner circle to know what kind of training you are actually doing.” My dad said. “Did anyone from Alpha Carter’s pack know about your elemental abilities?”
“Only the few elementals I worked with. The whole pack saw the physical training and meditation, but we limited access to all advanced training. All of his ranked member families were aware of my visit and my training with their pack as the famous Gamma True, but nothing else.” I said.
“So it could have been someone from Alpha Clark’s pack. Everyone from our pack knows that Seleste is the protector, so the traitor is not in our pack and outside of the Council, no one knows your training schedule.” My mom says.
“True and I don’t think it was anyone from the Coven either. Only the Royal family knew I was training with the Prince. Everyone else thought I was just visiting with Alpha Clark who is friends with the Prince. There was a lot of speculation about Alpha Clark and me being mates. We let those rumors flow while we were there since it gave some credibility to my being there. We will have to reach out to Alpha Clark and the other packs that are working with us to let them know we may have a traitor in the midst.”
“Seleste, I think you should cancel your trip to the Bear’s Den.” My dad says.
“Daddy, I know you want to wrap me in bubble wrap and protect me, but this is my destiny. I have to do this. I will not let evil control my actions. I am surrounded by strong warriors who will give their lives for me. I will be ok.”
“Seleste is right bae.” My mom said. “We did not raise her to run and hide from trouble.”
“I know, but you can’t blame me for wanting to protect my pup.”
‘I love you daddy and I will be ok. Evil will not win.”
We soon finished the meeting and everyone retired for the night. Tomorrow is another day.
