Alpha Coast sat in his office with Beta Arthur discussing the development of the pack, he had to go on a business trip soon but he didn’t want to leave Bella behind.
“I would prefer if you for the trip, you are adverse with our business and it is just a three day convention” He said to him and Arthur frowned, he also didn’t want to part with his mate and wanted him to leave instead.
“But Alpha, I can take care of things here while you go” the chat between was more about brothers who were unwilling to leave their mates rather than an Alpha and a Beta.
“No, you can take care of things better over there, you need to stay away from the pack maybe just for a few days and cool your head” Alpha Coast stated with a smile, his effort to convince his beta was turning into an argument between them.
“No, you should get the weight of the pack off your shoulders and enjoy this three days convention, it would take a lot of things off your chest and by the time you know you would be as free as ever” Arthur objected and they both laughed.
“How about we send Lucian, he is free at the moment” Arthur suggested.
“What are you two convincing behind my back, I though the Alpha was going on this trip why are you two shifting it to me” Lucian says walking in.
“Because you have no mate” they both chorused and he paused. It was nice to see the Beta and Alpha joke around, it had been a long time since he saw Alpha Coast smile, with all the things that were happening, he knew he had been through a lot and even more from his mate Bella.
“I have found my mate” he said shocking them.
Alpha Coast raised his brows in question, was he deceiving them.
“Where is she?” He asked.
“At my house, she is human and doesn’t feel anything” he answered taking his seat.
“You got a human mate, I had never expected that” Arthur remarked, he had expected the mate of Lucian to be a strong woman compared to who he was.
“I was surprised too” he answered.
He too out a letter from his pocket and gave it to Alpha Coast,
“This was dropped off an hour ago” he passed it to him waiting for him to read the content.
After Alpha Coast read it, a frown formed on his face.
“Alpha Jude of Blue lake Pack would be paying a visit tomorrow” he said grumpily.
“That man is trouble, what does he want now” Arthur emphasized,
“He wasn’t there for the ceremony and hasn’t met Bella, I believe that is what he is coming for” Gamma Lucian answered.
“Arthur, you are going on the trip, you can take your mate with you if you want.
Lucian get everything ready for the arrival of this damn Alpha, he might not spend a day but it would be nice to be prepared” Alpha Coast ordered and walked away. He had never been in good terms with Alpha Jude and he knew his visit was going to have a detrimental effect on him, he walked angrily back to his chambers with his head down deep in thoughts, he was so consumed by the visit of Alpha Jude that he bumped into Bella coming out of his chambers.
Bella hit her head on his sturdy chest and fell back, he stretched his hand and grabbed her pulling her to his embrace, his arms wrapped around her waist using that opportunity to keep her closer to him.
“I’m fine now” she said when the hug took longer than expected, he had saved her from falling even though it was his fault but she didn’t expect that he wouldn’t want to let her go.
Her scent filled his nostrils mixed with the vanilla scent of her shampoo, his heart was beating faster with her close to him but his muscles and nerves were relaxing. Earlier he was so worked up about the visit by Alpha Jude but her presence had taken all those thoughts out of his head and he felt relieved.
“Just for a few minutes” he requested.
He still wanted to enjoy that feeling of warmth and peace that she gave him, slowly their breathing were in sync and he could hear her heart beating faster too. He loved that he had that effect on her as he smiled.
A minute had passed and Bella tried to pull away but he pulled her back.
“One more minute” he requested and she stood still. It would be a lie to say that Bella didn’t enjoy his embrace, she felt so secure and safe in his arms that she was willing to let go off her worries and remain like that for a while, it wasn’t just his request that held her still but also her longing to enjoy the love and care of her mate. He was her mate and no one could give her that much comfort if not him.
She rested her head on his chest and closed her eyes, she could hear his heart beat and she softly smiled, the butterflies in her stomach were going crazy and she was beginning to fill wild thoughts in her head, she had to get herself out of the situation she was in or else she might do something stupid as usual.
“Another minute has passed, could you kindly let go off me” she requested.
Alpha Coast immediately became sad, he wanted more, he didn’t want her to leave him but sadly he had to let go.
“Where are you going to?” He asked after releasing her.
“I need to visit Luther” she answered and he felt more sad, it had to be that damn boy again who always stole a spot in her heart when he couldn’t.
“The Alpha of the Blue lake pack would be visiting tomorrow” he informed her, he didn’t want her to meet the likes of Alpha Jude, he preferred if she was hidden from him until he was gone.
“Do I have to pretend also?” She asked him keeping her hands on her tiny waist like it was more of a demand than a question.
“No, you don’t have to pretend but I would prefer if you stayed indoors, you might be the reason why he is visiting” he answered sincerely, he wanted her to know that he would never hide the truth from her so that she could trust him and let her guard down.
“And why is that?” She questioned.
Alpha Coast didn’t mind that she was asking too much questions and he was ready to answer them all.
“He must be eager to know who my mate is since he missed your introduction ceremony” he said.
This was one of the reason why he held that ceremony, so prying eyes like Alpha Jude wouldn’t have to pay a special visit just to see her.
“So because of him I have to stay indoors, I don’t see the point why I have to do that” she objected and he sighed.
She had always been rebellious to him and wouldn’t heed to anything he said, he wondered when she would pay attention to him and listen to him.
“Please just stay indoors” he resorted to pleading with her if he could get through her thick and rebellious heart.
“I’m sorry but if I have to come out to get something then I will, I don’t see why you should be worked up all because of the presence of another Alpha or does he have something against you, did you do something wrong to offend him?, did you harm his mate?” She accused him and he rubbed his forehead in frustration.
“Why must you always assume the worst in me” he said and she smirked.
“That’s the only way that I can see you for who you truly are” she replied.
“And what exactly am I?” He asked her moving closer to her.
“A murderous beast” she answered,
“Then I am a beast that you can never get away from” he stated.
“We will see” she smiled and walked away.
Alpha Coast was baffled, what exactly did she mean by that, he could feel she was up to something yet he couldn’t quite figure it out but no matter what, he wasn’t going to let her go.
