Sortie, Angel of Death Chapter 6

Willow was grateful to C. J. for every stop he would always buy food enough for the three of us. When the third night hit I was losing strength, not feeding on blood was starting to wain on so much. Having two supernatural beings with me all the time, I was beginning to hear their blood calling to me. My head kept lolling as I continued to drive trying to focus on the wisps for directions. My eyes were getting heavy and my muscles felt tight. I needed to feed, if I didn’t I was going to need to sleep.

“Willow,” I whispered to the sleeping pair. “Willow, I need help…”everything went black.

Shortly After

Jerked awake by a sudden sharp pain on my arm I yelled out, “OW!” Looking around I see Shorty laying on the driver door, while the truck swerved in and out of lanes. “SHIT!” jumping to the wheel. Using one hand to push the unconscious fool to the passengers side with Willow helping by dragging her legs. Settling in I slow the speed down from hundred MPH. “I’m biting you back Willow,” I announce as the sight of holes assault my eyes. Willow chuckled as a reply. WAIT, she chucked? I twisted my head to look at her quickly. “Did you just chuckle at me?” The dog’s head nodded with a visible grin.

Slapping my face, “OW! So, I’m awake and you actually understand and respond. I’m losing my mind.” Willow growled and then laid on the unconscious passenger. Keeping my eyes forward I see a spot that a large blue ball was in the distance. Taking that as evidence to pull off the road in a nearly invisible drive, before stopping the engine completely. The trees seemed to swing back blocking the entrance. “I’m not going any further without her being awake,” I stated to whomever maybe listening. As the moon was still high in the sky I decided to go back to sleep laying my head on the wheel and my forearms. I slowly started to drifted to sleep listening to the crickets and frogs music.

Birds started to chirp in the morning light as I stretched awake. “Man, I need a bed,” muttering to myself as I took a look around. Willow was sitting looking at her owner with big puppy eyes. I opened the driver’s door to take a leak to which Willow lunged and snapped at me. Tripping out the door backwards only to land on my ass in the dried leaves. “DAMN IT DOG!” I screamed. Only to have a response of her landing gracefully on my chest knocking my back flat to the ground. “What now?” I snapped. She continued to stare at me with a worried look. Suddenly she jumped off my chest to land on the bench by Shorty. As I got up brushing myself off, that dog started growling at me.

“Look here mutt I need to go piss. We will deal with sleeping beauty once I’m done.” I shot at her over my shoulder as I started towards a thick trunk ahead of me. Mid stream Willow jumped out of the cab and through the woods. ‘Good at least she’ll leave me to relieve myself,’ I thought. Shaking my shoulders as I zipped my jeans, I headed back to the truck. Grabbing a water from the box in the back Willow jumped in the bed just staring into my eyes. The gold iris’ seem to swirl a moment before the turned back to their normal gray color. “What the hell was that!”

“Can you understand me yet?” Willow snarled. My mouth dropped open before my head hit something hard. Blackness consumed my eyes and thoughts before a bright light flooded everything around me.

“Hello?” I yelled to the teal surroundings.

“Welcome C. J.”

“Ah...Who’s there?”

“It’s me, Willow.”

“How can I understand you?”

“Interesting color you chose for yourself.”

“You didn’t answer me.”

“I alpha you,” the voice said. I kept silent as I looked for the source. “I mind linked you, dumb wolf,” the voice snapped.

“How?”

“Last night I started the process. This morning I made you submit. I seriously wonder about your upbringing.”

“I wasn’t raised with wolves.”

“Obviously. Now let me form in front of you.”

“What?”

“I’m trying to get in your head but you wont let me project in front of you.” Trying I picture Willow’s form to allow her in, which just seem to be what my instincts tell me to do. It didn’t seem to work.

“How?”

“Just put your guard down. Trying to picture me as a humanoid form.”

“Uh, what do you look like in human form?”

“I am a female.”

“Yeah? What else?”

“I have gray hair with orange highlights, my eyes are gray, then imagine Sortie’s form with out your hormones getting involved.”

“Ok, I’ll try… WAIT why would hormones be involved?” I asked to which she grunted in annoyance. So I try to picture Shorty’s body’s curves and facial features with gray eyes and hair. A form started to shimmer in view. It reminded me of a TV going in and out of static. I tried to focus on the features of what I believe Willow would have. When the image settled in place there stood a beautiful female. Long legs were wrapped in a stripped skirt, a tub top hugged her torso’s curves, a silver chain link necklace fell loosely around her clavicle, her shoulders straight with her neck stiff. Her delicate features a stark contrast from her wild ass length hair. The gray brought out the mild shade of orange with a direct contrast. She whipped her silvery eyes towards me, while her hair floated around making it shimmer with a metallic silver and gold gleam. “HOLY SHIT!” I shrieked. To which her lips curled in a snarl.

“Listen here mister…”

Interrupting her without being able to stop myself, “What are you?” A bored expression calmly expanded onto her face.

“I am a familiar. I am Sortie’s familiar, conjured by fire magic.” Her words sounded as if it was the most natural thing in the world. I sat in the spot I stayed in the teal mist with my mouth wide open. “Are you going to listen yet?” I nodded my head as words seemed to be lost in my throat. “Now that I have your attention listen carefully. Sortie is not a normal vampire, as I assume you have figured out by now.” I nodded in agreement, unsure if I actually believed that or not. “I need you to go give her some of your blood.”

“No,” all I could say to this image claiming to be Willow.

“That’s an order. I order you to wake up and give her blood now.”

“Wake up?”

“Yes, you passed out.”

“Why is it teal?” The image face palmed.

“Don’t ask me why you chose teal. NOW GET UP!” Without realization my eyes shot open. My body on it’s own power walked to the unconscious body in the passenger seat. I looked down at her peaceful resting face, not noticing my left hand’s nails grew into claws. One sharp point ripped through my inner forearm and my right arm shot out over Shorty’s lips. As my body began to come back into my control I removed it smearing the blood on her plump bottom lip. The smear started to slip back into the crease and her eyes shot wide open. Her eyes wouldn’t be the correct term. The eyes that watched me had elongated pupils, irises that normally were light were now dark and stormy. Without a titch of a muscle her eyes darkened and her teeth dug into my neck. Nails dug into my shoulder blades as I started to feel light headed.

“STOP!” a familiar voice said near my feet. My vision started to blacken once again as I felt a new stabbing of teeth started pulling my leg. The vampire on my neck released with a deafening growl before lunging towards my feet. I slide down the cab side face first into the ground. My vision started clearing as my head kept swimming. Using a great force of strength I pulled my muscles to move my arms under me. Turning to lay my head on the ground I ran my hand up my face and through my hair. Breathing was getting harder as I heard a fight in the distant. Feeling ivy wrap around my ankles and crawl up my legs as some others were tightening around my wrist to my neck. Warmth engulfed my being as a tug on my consciousness slipped me to a peaceful black bed.

Meanwhile

Watching the brown hair vampire chase the brindle familiar through the trees. The young man disappearing into the underbrush. Shouts and growls bounce off the trunks of the trees disrupting my ear’s peace. Rubbing my head in my feathers as a blue flame appears next to me. Looking back to the trio for updates on the currant state. The little dog seems to be able to out maneuver the child after her, however the girl had the speed. Watching closely I noticed the young vampire’s movements being more animistic then suppose to be.

“Curious,” I wondered out loud. Catching the attention of the blue bulb. I nodded in their direction and watched for a while longer.

“Come on,” I state to the wisp; “tell me why you brought them here.” It whistled softly as it pointed to the cabin hidden deeply beneath the canopy behind me. “Go get it ready for their arrival then.” I pulled my eyes back to the trio far in front of me. “Keep an eye on them. Something is far from right with this situation.” I jumped off the branch to soar towards the trio before thinking differently. Turning back towards the sun I flew straight towards it before I disappeared from view.

Back at the truck

The rabid vampire continued to chase Willow around trees, as C. J. still laid nestled in the wood’s undergrowth. Willow kept Sortie busy for hours trying to tire the lady out before being able to fix a conversation. As Willow turned around yet another tree Sortie was not anywhere to be seen. Heading back towards the truck cautiously Willow stops quickly as a figure softly drops to the forest bed directly in front of her. Pausing she readies herself to run if need be, as the dark figure stood hidden in the shadows at the end of a grouping of large trees.
