The wind I could not see whipped around my body with a might whipping my flesh from it’s bone. That could barely compare to the heat that felt to be cooking my marrow by the second. Feeling the urge to scream I open my mouth trying to relieve the pressure of pain. Tears tried to escape from their secret location only to be dried to salt. A peaceful presents loomed by welcoming me to the notion of relief. I tried to move towards the powerful gift and to my ease my body moved quickly. I started running to the positive figure which stays still. The closer I became the more I realized this I not who I need to run too. “Willow?” I cried out to the peaceful energy.
No answer came forth. The heat increased as the wind flew towards me in waves of relief. Working my brain to will it self to recall information I may need. Thinking back memories appeared before me as holograms. I recall the witch, “she used fire magic to subdue me.” Then Willow popped into my view, “She has not shown her magic.” I tried to recall when she was in my head, at last I gave in to the next image that wanted to appear. “Shorty?” I called to the image. I fell towards her feet, looking up I could see her look down. The gleam of her green eyes made me shudder as her bicuspids elongated. The lust in her eyes made me shiver as fear over came me. The wind came at me with a strong force holding me still with no chance of escaping. Willow came running towards me only to be stopped by the pillar of wind boxing her in. She howled out in pain. “WILLOW!” I screamed trying to reach her. My alpha whimpered falling to her side. Fire engulfed her in seconds holding her to a gruesome death. I turned to watch the witch come towards Shorty. “Look out Shorty!” I yelled seeing the image of the witch waver between two. Shorty turned to look at her twisting her features to a more menacing stare. The witch laughed loudly calming the wind and suffocating the fire.
“I made you girly, and I will kill you;” the witch sneered. “I’m killing that monster that never should have existed.” She pointed her bony finger at me. Her laughter started to cackle as her body shook. My eyes would not let me close them, they held consent keep still. I forced myself to watch to see what was going to happen.
“Uyaga!” Shorty yelled.
“Sortie I made you to be the strongest but it seems you are still too human.”
“I already killed the abominations. You fail to realize that with your own blood lust. How can you except to kill everything when you are too blind to keep our mission here. I came to you begging for the strength needed for revenge. You accepted purely to gain your own ending. I know who you are and what you’ve done!”
“HA! I purify nature. I banish those who have hurt it. I punish those who misuse it. You are NEVER going to understand the pain I have lived through.”
“Old hag,” Shorty mumbled.
“I made you to be an iron rod against all who has cursed my blessed nature. They manipulate everything about nature to benefit themselves. You have became no better!”
“Listen here old maid, I have done what you have asked. I am not changing our agreement, however; you seem to be dead set against me not killing those who have yet to do anything.”
“You are too young.”
I watched as their voiced faded out. Shorty stood strong as everything shook around her. Under her breath she whispered something I could not hear. The wind whirled around me saving me from hail, lightening, water, and raining fire. As I watched everything faded around me, “stay still; trust me.” The words that Shorty mumbled hit me, paralyzing me to place. I closed my eyes as I heard a fight hit close by. Breathing slowly calming my heart, I was nudged by a wet nose I look down to see Willow. Her body was that of a young puppy again. Her eyes big silver glossy bulbs of beauty. Jumping up she landed on my shoulder, where she sat calmly. I closed my eyes listening to every movement.
Nymphs hide in nature to ensure safety. Wolves were predators to keep themselves safe. Vampires are on top of the food chain, the top predator was Shorty. The witch is not on the food chain. The strongest in the world fought on my side, however will the witch win? As if his mental block was heard from Willow as she nudged her tiny blue nose on my chin. I ran my finger tips over her muzzle. “Please keep us safe Shorty.”
Outside C. J.’s Head
“What’s the point of this?” Willow whimpered.
“Familiar, you need to be quiet,” Uyaga huffed.
“Do not talk to Willow that way. Also, I agree!” my retort started to mumble at the end. I watched his chest heave as his facial features twisted in pain. Looking passed his face I worked down towards his collar bone. Redness swelled around two perfectly matched scabs. The swelling looked to throb but not spread. Curiously I reached my nails over dragging them across the raw skin. As my index nail ripped the scab free from his skin coming into view a clear liquid drain from his fresh hole. “Why did my bite not torture him?”
“He is not a Lycanthrope alone,” Willow whispered. I used my middle nail cutting loose the second scab. Again clear liquid drained from his skin.
“Sortie, it appears he is immune to vampire venom,” Uyaga announced. “I do say he does seem to be of some use. Do you feel troll’s magic in his bones?”
“I feel many abominations in him. I tasted a few, however; Lycanthrope and Nymph blood run his veins,” I deadpan to the old lady. I watched waiting for blood to drain out but it never came.
“I smell humans on him but not their blood on his hands,” Uyaga stated.
“Is it possible that his nymph side keeps him from harming humans?”
“Sortie, do not be foolish. He is just as deadly as any other monster.”
“He has yet to kill. Maybe he can be trained?” Willow puppy eyes gleamed in hope as she watched Uyaga ran her hands over his twitching body.
“He has yet to hunt after his unlocking. I doubt he will be able to go long with out any blood. We all know what blood his kinds lust for.”
“Uyaga, think this through. Yes, he may lust for blood. However, you even said Nymphs can not harm any humans. So he will need to hunt something. I think we can help him to be useful,” the glint in my eyes shone in each face now looking at me. “If we are successful it could save his life?”
“If you train him how will you keep him in check?” Uyaga questioned.
“You made me more powerful then they are. Why would he be different?”
“He is more powerful then both put together now. If he trains he could easily over power you.”
Growling out, “Listen here old woman. I will not let him be more powerful. I can and will always be able to take him out if that time comes.”
“Also, I am his Alpha,” Willow stated; “and Sortie is my Alpha.” A grin covered my face as I saw the love from Willow’s eyes.
“It is too dangerous to keep him alive now. If he tunes into his powers too much he could easily over power and overtake the Alpha position in your group,” Uyaga blankly stated.
“HA!” was the only noise that could escape my lips. Earning a glare from Uyaga and a snicker from Willow. Uyaga had made up her mind only thing I could think to help was to speak to C. J. in his mind. ‘Listen to me C. J., you are in danger please choose your decisions carefully.’ He did not respond. I watched as Uyaga placed two haggard hands on his wide chest. Rolling her eyes back she started moving her mouth. No sounds rang out as she started pumping her hands over his chest never actually touching him. Her lids closed as she started leaning forward. Without warning she stood bringing her hands to his neck.
In a blink of an eye C. J. had pushed Uyaga to the ground standing over her body with a menacing growl. His eyes flew wide open with no pupils visible. The threat that radiated from his body pushed through the wind his steps bounced off the near empty walls. We all stood there watching as without emotions he turned towards me. What looked like floating, as he speed to stand in front of me. His gentle touch soothed me as his fingers wrapped around my hand. He knelt in front of me bowing his head lower then his shoulders. “Alpha,” his words silenced the room of all sounds. The three of us women watched in great horror as he waited for my response.
Back in C. J.’s Mind
I felt numb as waves upon waves of energy flooded my body. As told I stayed still with Willow still on my shoulder. After what seemed as hours things became eerie. I looked out at the once battle field Shorty knelt there trembling as blood poured from her side. I tried to run to her. Willow jumped off me heading towards her. Willow reached Shorty, where as I was cemented to the ground. The witch appeared before me magic power pushing from her. As the words appeared in my head ‘listen to me C. J., you are in danger please choose your decision carefully.’
The witch pushed her power at me, pushing her magic in me. The power vibrated my cells causing so much pain I wanted to die. The peaceful presence I felt early came back, I tried to reach for the presence and it seemed to want to reach me also. I looked over to where Willow laid crying on Shorty as the Vampire’s chest shook with each breath. Anger built in side me as the power continued to vibrate my cellular being. The magical pressure started to focus on my neck pushing deep to my spine. I attacked the witch snapping her back to the ground calling the vines of the forest to hold her. The vines obeyed my command. I stalked to Shorty grabbing her hand calling for the natural elements to heal her side. Plantain grew weaving threw her skin and covering her once gaping hole. When she roused to her feet I knelt before her. Still holding her soft hand I bowed my head to her, “Alpha.”
The words fell from my mouth and rang around me as Willow bowed next to me. Shorty stood strong as she glared at the witch’s entwined body. Her eyes blazed as death over took her vision. She pounced on the witch ripping her head off her body. Shorty stood over the decapitated body that shimmered, crackling as if her fire was ending. Shorty showed her toothy grin as she held up the head. Willow and I bowed our heads, before the darkness over flooded my being once again.
Opening my eyes I see my hand holding tightly to Shorty’s. Her eyes glared at mine with an unknown expression. I could not move with any order my mind sent to my muscles. Bowing my head again trying to figure out how I became kneeling before her. “Alpha?”
