Lucia's POV.
I paced around the big living room of our house waiting for my husband Damon to come home. I've been suffering from morning sickness and stomach bugs for a few days now, so I went to the doctor today and he told me the best news I've been waiting to hear for so long, and now, I can't wait to tell Damon about this.
I heard the horn of Damon's car indicating the security to open the gates and immediately squealed. I made my way towards the couch ready to tell him the news.
Few minutes later Damon enters the mansion with a smile on his face. Seeing him smile, I smiled immediately. But it fades away when I see a woman accompanying him. They both were smiling widely at something the woman in his arms was saying. I cleared my throat getting, their attention.
The girl's eyes widened when she saw me and Damon's lips formed a smirk. Why was he smirking? Damon slowly wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her close to him. What The Fucking Hell? I furrowed my eyebrows in anger but he kept smirking at me.
Without uttering a word to me, he led the woman to the guest room while she hung her head low.
Is this some kind of a joke? Is he trying to make me jealous or something? It's not making me jealous, it's irritating the hell out of me. Few minutes passed s and Damon came downstairs.
"What the hell, Damon ?" I screamed.
"Stop screaming you whore.” He shattered my heart with his words. He just called his wife a whore. "I want you to leave my house right now and come back to my office tomorrow to sign the divorce papers." He said, pulling out two glasses out of the China cabinet.
"Divorce? What the hell are you talking about, Damon?" I asked in anger.
"You know exactly what I am talking about!" He shouted in my face. I took a step back. He never shouted at me, let alone talked harshly towards me.
"How can you do this to me? If you wanted to
be with him, why didn't you just tell me
to leave you alone? Why? Because you wanted my money? Tell me you bitch!”
He shouted.
I was shocked, he had never raised his voice at me. I can't believe this, how can Damon after everything we've been through spout such rubbish to me.
"I wanted to be with him? Whom did I want to be with? Are you out of your mind?" I said, loudly.
“Liam. I know you were hooking up with him behind me!" He snarled .
"What? Do you even know what you're talking about?" I shouted. "Liam is my best friend and we've only been here for two years, what do you take me for?"
"You look pathetic trying to act innocent." He rolled his eyes.
"Listen, I didn't cheat on you. I would..."
Damon's eyes widened as he registered what he just did but his eyes showed anger. My mouth opened in shock. I tried to say something but nothing came out. His actions left me speechless.
He just slapped me, how dare he !!!
Without another word I walked into our scurry old bedroom and pulled out my suitcases from the walk-in closet. I collected my things and stuffed them in the two suitcases.
Once done I walked out of the closet with my suitcases. I dropped them on the floor and took a look at the room where we both had made many memories. The room where we made love for the first time.
The room where we conceived our child. I placed my hand on my stomach and let out a sob. My baby. I shook my head, picked up my suitcases again and walked out of the bedroom.
I dragged the suitcases down the stairs, glancing at pictures of us hanging on the wall in the process. Pictures of our first date, a picture of us in front of the Eiffel Tower, a picture of us at our wedding, our first kiss as wife and husband, pictures of us at our honeymoon and many more with family and friends.
Damon had his arm around the woman's shoulder and she had her arms around his torso. He looked me in the eye and bent down to kiss her temple. My heart shattered again and again as he looked at her the way he used to look at me. I didn't say a word as they stared into each other's faces. I walked towards the door and looked back at the house where I had lived for four years. I opened the door and pushed the suitcases out. As I stepped out, a hand wrapped around my wrist and I turned back to see Damon.
His touch burned me, even now. I can't understand how he does that. My eyes met his but they held no emotions for me.. Didn't he love me all these years? Didn't he trust me?
"I want you to come to my office, tomorrow." He said and left my hand. "You have to sign the divorce papers."
"Okay." And without another word, I walked out of the house and his life.
"Mommy!" I heard my little girl, Emma's voice, waking me up as she sat on my stomach.
"Come on, Mom! It's Christmas!" Evan, my little prince said. They both are so excited because it's Christmas and they get to open presents today. I chuckled lowly as I opened my eyes and looked at my kids whose faces were bright and beamed with happiness.
“Merry Christmas, babies," I said, sitting up with Emma on my lap. I kissed their foreheads and they tackled me with a warm hug. We stayed like that for a few minutes before Evan pulled away.
"Merry Christmas, mommy.” They said and kissed my cheeks and immediately a smile appeared on my face.
"Come on mommy, let's open the gifts now!" They both squealed.
"Hold your horses, guys. Your aunt's family should be here before you can open your gifts." I told them and they pouted.
"Let's get ready. Yeah?" I asked and they both gave me a nod before we got out of bed and started with our morning routine.
It's been an hour or two since my family arrived and we all opened our gifts a few minutes back. Now we all were just sitting on the couch, women talking, just as they are known for, and the men playing with the kids.
"Daddy, I am sleepy." Molly, my best friend's daughter, said to Nathan.
"Come here, sweetie." Nathan beckoned and pulled her into his arms and lay her on his chest. She closed her eyes and in no time, fell into a peaceful sleep.
I stared at both of them adoringly. Ellie was really lucky to have a husband who cared for her and their daughter. Tears formed in my eyes as I thought of Damon but I quickly blinked them away before anyone caught me. My Aunt excused herself to go to the restroom and my best friend started to speak.
“Why don't you call him?" Ellie placed her hand on my shoulder and I knew she had seen the tears in my eyes.
It's been five years since Damon and I got our divorce, five years since he left me when I was pregnant, and 4 years since I gave birth to my children.
I was completely alone, broken, sad, and depressed without Damon. I felt lonely. But after my kids came into the world, everything changed. Everything. I had to be strong, for them.
Though sometimes I felt vulnerable I tried to be strong. I turned to look at my children and saw them smiling as they played with my dad. I always want to make them smile and make them... Happy.
I turned to my best friend and she was looking at me, waiting for an answer. I slowly shook my head, left to right, indicating a ‘no’.
"Okay. Your wish. But, don't you think he deserves to know?" She asked.
"He doesn't deserve to know anything," I said angrily.
"But he's their father." She snapped and rolled her eyes at my unwillingness.
"So what! Huh!? He didn't even let me tell him that day. He was busy spending time with his girlfriend. He accused me of cheating without knowing the truth. He slapped me when I tried to explain." I suppressed a sob. "He doesn't deserve to know nothing. They are not our kids, they are my kids." I cried out in frustration.
I then realized that I'd been so loud and now, everyone was staring at me. I got off the couch and ran into my room and locked the door before sliding against it. I put my head in my hands and sobbed uncontrollably. I still remember that day, when I signed those divorce papers at his office.
**flashback**
I walked through the large doors of the company and towards the elevator. I pressed the 30th floor that led to Damon's office. I was here a couple of days back and everything was perfectly fine. But now, everything has changed.
Since we moved to Scotland he started being cold and harsh.
Last night was unexpected and dreadful. I didn't know what to do when I walked out of his mansion. I cried, sitting on a bench at the park. I stared into space thinking that this all was a nightmare.
After I don't know how long, I went to my dad's place. He was irritated when he opened the door but when he saw that it was me, his irritation changed to Worry. He asked me what I was doing there at that time, but I didn't utter a word. I couldn't.
I put my suitcases in my old room and when my aunt repeated her question, I just shook my head, went to bed, and closed my eyes trying so hard to forget the pain and once again, hoping that it was all just a nightmare. But, when I woke up in the morning, I realized that it was all true and not a nightmare.
So here I am. Just Like he asked me to, I came here to sign the divorce papers.
When the doors of the elevator opened, I walked to Joannah, Damon's assistant and she looked up to see me.
"Ma'am?" She called. There was an undertone of surprise in her voice. "Mr. Damon is in a meeting." She told me. I cleared my throat and started to speak.
"He-" I was cut off by a very familiar voice.
"It's okay, Joannah. I asked her to come here. To sign the divorce papers.” He added as his eyes pierced into mine.
He was dressed in my favorite Navy blue suit and a white shirt inside with a pair of pants that matched his suit. He looked incredibly handsome.
No! Don't think such things! I warned myself. At one point, when we were still in a relationship, I thought that this was too good to be true. And now, I'm sure he realized that. I was not good enough for him. He deserved more.
Silence settled over us as people around the floor stopped walking and stared at us with mouths wide agog. They were surprised. Hell, even I was surprised.
Damon walked back into his office leaving the door open for me to walk in. I looked at Joannah, whose eyes were wide and her lips were parted. I forced a smile toward her and entered his office.
The cool air from the central air conditioner hit my body and I shivered. Or was it the situation that made me shiver? I didn't know. The woman from last night was sitting on the couch, where I usually sat whenever I came to see Damon and a man was sitting on the chair at Damon's desk. I guessed him to be the lawyer.
"Babe?" Damon called and I looked forward. My heart broke even more when I realized he was calling the woman. "Can you please wait in the other office while I deal with her?" He asked the woman and she nodded, smiling at him.
Damon smiled back and gave her a sweet kiss before walking to his seat. She collected her purse and walked past me with a smirk on her face.
I looked at Damon with tear-filled eyes and he looked back at me with no emotions in his black eyes at all. He slowly nodded toward the now empty sofa, silently indicating that I sat on it. I did as I was told, again.
"Hello, Mrs. Walter." The man spoke.
"Miss. Lucia stones," I said, my eyes still on Damon's
"Um... apologies ma'am." The man cleared his throat. "I am David Simons, Mr. Damon's lawyer." He introduced himself to me and I gave him a slight nod.
"So...shall we... um... start?" He was nervous, so I gave him yet another nod.
"Miss. Stones will have no right on the properties of Mr. Walter. She will no longer meet him after today. She will stay away from the paparazzi and media. She will be provided with a hundred thousand dollars, only.” He finished.
"Anything you want to add, sir?" He asked Damon and Damon shook his head. He repeated the question to me and I nodded. Mr. Simons turned to look at Damon, before giving me a nod of approval.
"I don't want anything from him. Not money, not anything.” I told them. The lawyer looked surprised for a minute, but then he gave a nod and did something on the paper. Damon and I stared at each other.
"Okay! Everything's done. You just need to sign them." The lawyer said. He handed me a pen and the papers and I took them with my shaky hands. I looked at Damon but he was ignoring me. He was typing something on his phone and smiling.
I shook my head knowing that he isn't going to stop this or let me tell him the news. So I signed the papers. Then the lawyer handed the papers to Damon and he immediately signed them without any hesitation. "I'll send the papers to the judge." The lawyer informed him and got up. He collected his things and shook hands with Damon before heading to the door.
"Why didn't you take anything? I thought you would want more." Damon said once the lawyer was out of sight.
"I don't need anything. We will be fine." I said, looking at him, hoping he would realize what I meant.
“We? You mean you and him?" He asked angrily and I shook my head in annoyance. I abruptly got up startling him in the process. I collected my purse.
“When you realize your mistake and come back to me, don't expect me to forgive you,” I warned and turned to walk away.
"I will never forgive you." He snapped, but I didn't turn back.
"I don't expect you to forgive me because I didn't do anything, you've forgotten everything we both went through all in the name of fake pictures you saw. I'm disappointed Damon."
This time, I really walked out of his life. I'm never gonna look back again.
Back to the present.
Tears stream down my eyes as the memory of that day strokes my mind. I heard soft voices behind the door.
"Mommy? Can you open the door?" I heard Emma's voice. I quickly wiped my tears and opened the door. Immediately I wrapped my arms around Emma and Evan and hugged them close to my body.
"I love you. I love you both so much." I whispered to them.
"We love you too mom." They both replied.
