Tempted By The Playboy Chapter 23

Lucia POV

“Hey, love bug!" Liam squealed like a kid and wrapped his arms around my shoulders, pulling me into his embrace.

"Liam." I laughed and hugged him back.

“How was the break?" He asked, pulling away. He walked to the couch and sat on it pulling out his phone from his back pocket.

"Good… I guess. How about you?"

"It was great. It was nice spending time with my family. I went to dinner at my boss' place and there is a charity ball this Friday. You should make an appearance.” He rambled and I chuckled.

"I would rather not.” I laughed. Is he serious?

"You should. We can talk to my boss about your job too." He suggested.

Liam is a very good friend I made after we moved to Scotland.

It's finally Friday and here I am, getting ready for the charity ball. Yes, I agreed to go with Liam so I can meet his boss.

I put on a black knee-length dress, curled the ends of my hair, and then tried a hairstyle that worked out perfectly. I touched a light make-up.

I put on my gold heels and checked myself in the mirror one last time before heading downstairs.

Ever since the divorce, I ceased from being the goodie two-shoed nanny.

"Emma! Evan! Can you come downstairs?" I called the kids and within seconds I could hear footsteps rushing downstairs.

"Wow, mom. You look nice.” Evan exclaimed and Emma agreed, nodding her head.

"Thank you, guys." I blushed at them. "Let's go now, I'm getting late," I added and they put on their shoes. Obedient. Since I was going to the ball, my Aunts' were going to babysit my kids. And all four of them were excited.

The three of us headed to my car and I buckled both of them in their seats before heading to the driver's seat. I pushed the gas and started the engine and slowly drove into the traffic. I looked into the mirror and saw both of them playing with their hands. Unlike other kids, my kids get along with each other very well.

Emma Anne Walter, the first of the twins. She had brown curly hair, pale skin, and beautiful ocean-blue eyes, like her dad. She's very beautiful, kind, and caring. Even though she's just four, she helps people a lot. But, when she gets angry it becomes another story.

Evan Theodore Walter, the younger one of the twins. I don't even have to describe him. He's completely like his dad but with brown eyes. He was so much like his dad, that it scared me. He was just four but girls were already falling for his looks. He acted more mature than his sister and would usually say things that a normal four-year-old wouldn't say. But he's a sweetheart.

After dropping the kids at my parents' place I drove off to the address Liam gave me.

The ball was crowded and few people were dancing as loud music played in the background. In a crowd of wealthy people, I tried to find Liam but failed.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to see a curly-haired man. He was so tall and he looked handsome. He gave me a toothy smile, showing his dimples and I smiled back.

“Hello. I'm Harry styles.” He said, holding out one of his hands. I thought twice before shaking his hand.

"Lucia Stones." I introduced myself and then turned away from him and I found Liam. Without saying a word to the man behind me, I escaped toward Liam. As soon as he noticed me, he stood up and hugged me.

“Where the hell is your mobile? I've been calling you.” I pulled away from him.

"Hello to you too.” He said sarcastically and I rolled my eyes at him. "You know? If you do that again, you might just lose your eyeballs." He warned, but I still went ahead to roll my eyes, again.

“Well they didn't," I said and after a long pause, we both burst out laughing.

The next half an hour passed quickly as I met Liam's friends and colleagues. They were all friendly and it was fun to have them around. I recognized one of them as the man I had met when I arrived earlier. Harry.

His name was Harry, right? Everyone seemed to be engaged in one conversation or the other, but Harry was looking at me. Or staring, rather.

"You look beautiful." He smiled at me.

"Thank you, you don't look bad yourself." I returned his compliment with a smile and then turned away to talk to Liam. I've always been very bad at talking with men, well unless they are close friends or family of mine.

"Liam...” Harry is cut off.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce to you all, our special guest, Mr. Damon Walter, our Naval architect for the night." The man who had been MCing the event all evening said, and my heart stopped beatin

"Lucia, are you okay?" Harry asked, touching my shoulder. I couldn't give him a reply. I was way too shocked to talk or even move.

I looked at the man who had broken my heart five years ago. The man whom I loved unconditionally. The man who cheated on me. The man whom I still love.

He was wearing a white shirt silk shirt and black dress pants and had a tie around his neck. He looked even more handsome than I could remember. He was smiling and waving at the crowd as they cheered.

"Lucia...." Harry called again, shaking me.

"I need to leave," I said, all of a sudden, but it came out as just a whisper, I couldn't breathe the same air as the ungrateful bitch.

"But it just started." He argued.

But I didn't listen and I started to run out of the crowded hall. Some people drunkenly cursed at me as I bumped into them, but I didn't even apologize. I just needed to get out of there. I heard Harry calling on me, but I ignored him as well and made my way out at so much speed.

I leaned against a brick wall in the parking lot and took a deep breath. Unwanted tears started to trickle from my eyes and run down my cheek. I put my face in my hands and began to sob. Why am I even crying? Why am I wasting my tears on him?' I asked myself.

I couldn't believe I just saw him. After all these years, just when I was trying to move on from him and his memories, he appeared. What if he saw me?

Oh no! That can't happen. He shouldn't see me, he isn't supposed to.

His father and stepmom were all doing well, they decided to move to Scotland to start again but only to get divorced soon after our marriage.

"Lucy..." I'm pulled out of my thoughts as somebody shakes me. I looked up to see Harry. Why can't he leave me the fuck alone!? "Are you okay, what happened?" He asked, his hand still on my shoulder. I pushed it away angrily.

"None of your business." I snapped at him and made my way toward my car.

"Lucy?" I heard again and when I turned back to shout at him, my heart dropped into my stomach. It wasn't Harry this time, but the only man I'd been scared to face.
