The Alpha's Lantern Mate Chapter 13

Scarlett

“You were marvelous,” her voice interrupted our conversation after the training as Marcus and I were chatting about how the pack members never got trained in the past so they were weaker than I had presumed.

I turned to see a beautiful girl with emerald green eyes glimmering at me. “Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Jenna,” she said enthusiastically and forwarding her hand for a handshake which I reciprocated generously. "I saw you teaching that trick, you're so fast and you were absolutely marvelous."

“Thank you, I’m Scarlett, and um…” her face was somehow familiar but I couldn’t recall a memory of us meeting before. “Have we met before?” I asked firmly, she seemed a nice girl unlike those bitches who just wanted to hook up with Klaus.

“What? Are you kidding-”

“No. She really doesn’t remember anything that happened that day except waking up at his house,” Marcus came forward and cut her off before she could ask me anything further.

Jenna gasped and her hands covered her mouth in astonishment. “I’m so sorry, Scarlett. I just came back from my graduation ceremony. I was out of the pack and this stupid cousin of mine didn’t bother to inform me anything.” She pulled Marcus’s ear and I couldn't stifle my giggle.

“Stop acting like a kid, Jenny,” Marcus screamed out in pain, trying to release her hold on his ear. “We have spoiled you, little brat.”

“You move away, shoo, shoo,” Jenna said with a grimace on her face. “I want to talk to her in private.”

They talked to each other via mind link and I averted my gaze from them to allot them privacy. I was missing my old pack, Alpha Elbert hadn’t even offered me a mind-link of this pack, nonetheless, I was feeling like an outsider.

“Alright. I’ll leave my precious friend with you," looking at Jenna, he said grimacing his face in resentment.

"I don’t have any other option except to leave you with bad company. See you tomorrow,” Marcus gushed in an annoyed voice before kissing my cheeks and leaving us alone.

Jenna sulked before asking me for a walk to the packhouse where many pack members lived in their separate rooms and I used the locker room for a shower before going back to Aunt Rachel’s house daily.

“Um, I don’t know how to start this conversation but I’ll. I understand your situation as you’re new to this pack and I’m sure that my brother wouldn’t have treated you so friendly,” she started as we reached the locker room.

Jenna continued further, “you really don’t remember that day when you went into your first heat? I mean, it’s special for all the she-wolves, you know, right? The first heat and the first mating with your mate,” she gave me more hints when I gave her hazy looks.

“Um, I’m being honest, I don’t remember anything about that day. And your brother treats me so nicely that he’s the only person on whom I can count and he’s my only friend except for my cousin in this pack.” I tried to explain to her despite her doubt about her brother.

They seemed so cute while bantering, maybe they were so close that she called Marcus her brother. I heaved a sigh of relief when I got to know that at least there was one girl who knew about my mate.

“If you don’t mind, can I ask you a question?” I halted in my steps and she did the same.

“Yeah, sure. Go ahead,” she said with a reassuring smile on her delicate face. Somehow, her curly brown hair reminded me of Klaus. Except for the eye color, they had many similar aspects like hair, facial features, and an aura that commanded respect.

Licking my lips to conceal my quandary, I slowly gulped not to seem nervous in front of her. “Do you know who my mate is?”

Jenna broke into a couple of chuckles. “Of course. I’m sorry for intruding on your privacy, I just wanted to make sure that you don’t feel lonely.”

“Oh, my goodness. It’s such a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I needed a girl-friend with whom I could talk about my mate as not many people know about us being mates,” I said genuinely, feeling grateful.

“I don’t remember anything about my heat and as you said, it’s precious but my mate doesn’t want me. I don’t even know if we mated during my heat or not, I have no mark on my body except this tattoo,” I showed her the tattoo that was composed after my heat.

Her hands grazed against the skin of my neck as she examined the tattoo. “Usually, werewolves get their marking spot filled with red ink when they mate. It’s the first time that I’m seeing a crown and a moon tattoo after the first heat.”

Nodding my head absentmindedly, I agreed with her. “And my mate is a di-k. He is that bad boy big Alpha who just hooks up with every girl he can get. He doesn’t believe in mating bonds and Moon Goddess, I don’t matter to him,” my intonations changed as I talked about him.

“He acts like I’m not his mate and now, I’m confused, too. Maybe I was wrong, he wasn’t my mate, I just felt attracted towards him,” I said, lowering my head. “I don’t know why I can’t recall a single memory of the day when I went into heat.”

Taking my hands into hers, she patted my palms with her thumbs. “I’ll try to help you with this. I’m studying medicine. I have finished my graduation but I haven’t practiced yet.”

“When Klaus and I were hugging each other, you came there with Marcus and fainted,” Jenna began explaining and a few images flashed in my mind of their embrace moment and me staring at Klaus’s lips.

She started strolling towards the locker room again holding my hand. “Then, Klaus asked Marcus to pick you up and take you to our pack doctor. Your heat had already started so the doctors couldn’t help you but advised Klaus to help you.”

“And then, Klaus took me to a beautiful pond where we…” I bit my lower lip and stopped uttering when I remembered us standing naked in that pond, entangled with each other.

Jenna cleared her throat, a sly grin decorating her face. “So you guys mated?” I couldn’t help but feel jealous of her when I remembered her embracing Klaus for her dear life.

“No. I fainted there, too. We haven’t mated yet and I’m grateful for that. I hate him, I don’t want a playboy mate. Thanks for listening to me and helping me,” I offered her a small smile before opening the knob of the bathroom and the moment I closed the door of the bathroom, I was pushed against the wall of the shower room.

His hand pressed hardly on my mouth, stopping me from screaming. How could Klaus be in the locker room? He never showered here before.

“Don’t you dare shout unless you want everyone to know that you’re my hookup for today,” he mumbled in his deep husky voice, a signature devilish smirk of him playing on his handsome face.

Besides being stuck with him, I couldn’t control my body as it reacted dumbly as always. My chest started falling and rising rapidly as his face was so closer to me that when he spoke, his hot breath fanned my face.

“Why the hell were you complaining about me to my sister?” His eyebrow arched up perfectly and my eyes widened in bewilderment.

Sister? His sister?

So I was back-bitching about my mate to my mate's sister.

“Klaus, you fuc-ing come out of the shower, now,” she warned him from the outside of the bathroom, slamming her hand on the door and I was clueless to thank her or blame her for parting us from each other. “I’ve smelled your scent and you better not ignore my mind-link next time.”
