The Alpha's Lantern Mate Chapter 18

Klaus

"What the heck was that?" Jenna spat at me before I could follow Scarlett to the backyard door of the club. "You don't have any idea how this news will break and your in-laws are going to make a fuss about this."

The last thing I wanted to do now was to explain my plan to anyone, not even Jenna. I needed Scarlett to trust me, she had suffered through a lot.

I wasn't there to comfort her when her sister died, she needed me and I left her alone, all by herself though I was supposed to share her pain and soothe her. I have been a ridiculous mate to her but not anymore.

Holding Jenna from her shoulders, I looked into her green emerald eyes that were filled with concern for me. "Look, Jenny, I need you to trust me. I know what I'm doing, I've prepared for everything," assuring her, I left her behind and skedaddled to the backyard.

As soon as I opened the door, my eyes lurked to where Scarlett sat with Marcus. Her head rested on my cousin's shoulder, his hand cupping her cheeks as she uttered something.

My fists clenched tightly by my sides, I hastened there and without thinking anything, my hands grabbed his collars before blowing a punch to his face.

"You better let me handle this," Todd growled loudly, not fancying the proximity between my cousin and mate at all.

I was too furious to listen to him, I could handle this better than him. The last time I let him take control, he hurt my father and grandfather so I put a barrier between us.

"What the fu-k you think you're doing, Klaus Nelson?" Scarlett snarled loudly, trying to push me away.

"What the fu-k you think you were doing, Scarlett Walkers?" I grumbled as loudly as her. "After I announced you as my mate, what were you doing with my cousin?"

She leaped in the air and kicked me with such force that I fell to the ground by my face. "You don't own me, I'm not a possession to take over. And you don't get to hit my friends."

Climbing from the floor, I met her eyes and could see wrath blazing in her blue eyes. “Why do you want to protect Marcus? Tell me the truth, do you like him? Or you guys have already…” I couldn’t finish my words, they wouldn’t have mated, I regretted my words as I came back to my senses.

My eyes grabbled where my arse-ole cousin was and I found him snorting on the ground. He must have been too drunk to fall asleep after tasting my punch.

“What do you want to say, Klaus? That I’ve slept with your cousin, right?” She mumbled with hatred, taking a step closer to me.

I had messed up again, I should have controlled the words that rolled over my tongue. She was hurt by me doubting her, the pain emerged from her eyes and unfortunately, I was the reason behind her pain again.

Extending my hand, I attempted to hold her face but she stepped backward, pointing her finger at me. “Don’t you dare touch me! You’re fuc-ing jerk of a mate. Yes, I’ve slept with your cousin and many others but you know what, you’re the worst. No one gets to doubt me and possess me,” Scarlett roared with bitterness, tears emerging in her eyes. I knew whatever she uttered was due to anger, it wasn't true.

“I…I didn’t mean that,” I said, trying to calm her. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that but I can’t help my Alpha nature, you know it, we’re possessive and protective of our mates.” I gave her the best excuse I could for my mistake.

She laughed ruefully, a hint of sarcasm mixed with her chuckle. “So what? Why don’t you remember that when you flirt with other girls? Just because you're an Alpha, you can treat me however you want, huh?”

“It’s not like that, I’m sorry for the mistakes I have made in the past, I didn’t mean to hurt you. I was just teasing you because I was jealous when you hugged Marcus,” I argued, proving my point. If she was hurt, I was hurt, too. I wasn’t enjoying flirting with the other girls, I was never that kind of guy in the first place.

When she didn’t respond to my argument, I walked closer to her and pulled her in a tight embrace. I stroked her back and shoulder gently, she didn’t reciprocate my hug and I could understand the reason very well.

“I’m sorry, Scarlett. Can’t we move on from the past and forget what has happened?” I whispered in her ear, pulling her closer to me.

She pressed her hands against my chest and pushed me away. “No one gets to hurt my pride, not even my mate. Learn to fuc-ing trust me,” she proclaimed in a stern voice that challenged me to interrupt her.

“I trust you,” I insisted, trying to hold her hands but she drew her hands back.

“Your last action proved that so well, Alpha Klaus,” she emphasized the word Alpha. “You literally thought of me as a harlot and I don’t tolerate disrespect, not even from an Alpha.”

I didn't like her calling that ridiculous thing herself, it made me furious and I couldn't stop cursing myself.

“Please, don’t say that.” My finger rested against her lips and her gaze tumbled over my lips. I seized that moment to claim her lips without her consent. My hands cupped her cheeks, holding her face between my palms.

She responded to my kiss after a while and I tried to turn a slow kiss into a passionate one by pushing her against the pillar of the backyard gently, resting my hand on the back of her head so she won’t get hurt.

I licked her lips, grabbing her thigh that allured me to touch her the moment I saw her in that black dress. Wrapping one leg on my hip, I took her bottom lip between my teeth which caused her to moan.

My tongue jabbed into her mouth, wanting to explore her mouth and taste the champagne in her mouth. She kissed me back with the same passion and I couldn’t feel happier. I caressed her thigh, kissing her deeply.

Her hands hung around my neck, crawling to my hair and grabbing my hair into her fists. My lips shifted to her jaws and left wet kisses all over her mouth. She abruptly pulled my mouth and kissed my lips.

The mating bond played its part to spread sparks in our bodies, I loved her dominating side the most. I loved how she reversed the roles and kissed me to teach me that if I wanted her, I needed to be in control and she would handle me.

She ended the kiss with a soft smooch and bit my lower lip a bit brutally. The sweetness with a little pain, that’s how her kiss felt.

I placed my finger on her chin and held it high so I could get access to her neck and throat. My lips stroked her skin and my tongue licked the curves of her neck, circling her marking point. She moaned breathlessly and that sound was music to my ears.

“Klaus…” she moaned my name loudly when my teeth clenched her shoulder, affixing her hands and chest to my chest, the sensations taking over her actions.

My hands roamed over her body carelessly, from her thighs to her breasts slowly. I could smell the scent of her arousal and I was sure that she could smell mine. Somehow her scent aroused me more and I lifted her so she could drape both legs around my hips.

Her head was higher than mine as I had held her from her waist. Her hair falling all over my face, my lips an inch away from her cleavage, and her hands fondling my neck and shoulder. I kissed her collarbone and she held her head back, clenching my hair in her fists tightly and biting her lip to stop herself from moaning.

Her marking spot allured me to mark her right there and right then but I knew that if I would mark her, she would get access to my mind-link, memories, and thoughts so I had to resist the desire to mark her.
