The bet that changed everything Chapter 10

/Samantha/

I returned my attention to Susan, who was virtually rolling on the floor with laughter. "What?" I said, giggling despite the fact that I had no understanding what was going on.

What the f*ck, I believe I might be a touch tipsy! I blinked a couple of times as I took a few steps back and looked around the now extremely crowded room.

"You are sooooo badass," she muttered in my ear as she continued to giggle uncontrollably around me.

"Yeah, Henry was the one who taught me." I shook my head. "Let's get another drink and head outside to get some fresh air, okay?" I grabbed her hand and drew her into the kitchen without waiting for a response; we gulped a shot and grabbed another to take outdoors.

At the door, Henry grabbed my hand and pulled me inside. "Just like I demonstrated to you, huh?" he exclaimed with a proud grin. Susan and I staggered out the door, chuckling, and I just nodded and kissed his cheek as we walked away.

Sitting on the swing set in the yard, we talked about our day. "Can you tell me how old Blake is?" Susan, who was leaning so far back on her swing that it appeared like she was about to fall off, was the one I asked.

"Er, I believe he left around two years ago," I say. 'So that would put him at twenty years of age, I guess?' she said, trying to make it sound more like a question.

"Henry and him didn't appear to be particularly fond of each other." I winced as I remembered the tightness that I'd sensed emanating from Henry earlier in the day when they first met.

"I believe they used to be on the same football team when Blake was still in high school." Blake played the running back position as well, and I believe that Coach pushed them both to the limit in order to have them compete for the job. The reason I believe they never got along was because of that," she said, slurring her words and hiccupping at the conclusion.

Henry walked out at that point, looking at me and smiling. "Hey, Samantha Bear, are you ready to call it a night?" he inquired, gently pushing me on the swing from the front of the porch. I couldn't help but smile. He used to push me on the swings all the time when we were little.

He'd even made me a swing for my birthday one year out of a piece of rope and a large stick, which he'd hung from an old oak tree in my backyard. He had fallen out of the tree while attempting to tie the rope, and he had broken his arm as a result. As soon as his plaster cast was removed, he returned to the tree and finished tying the rope around it. Even after all this time, it still hung in my garden. “Susan, you want a lift home?” he asked, shaking his keys at her to get her attention off of his body.

She giggled. “Hmm, do I want to ride with Henry Williams?” she purred suggestively, narrowing her eyes, looking him up and down.

I burst out laughing, and Henry rolled his eyes. When he reached out a hand for me, he said, "Come on you two drunken females, get in the car." I took his hand in mine and danced drunkenly to the car. We dropped Susan off at her residence, and Henry escorted her to the front door. When I looked up, someone was pulling on my jeans, attempting to pull them down. I was startled.

“Hey!” As I squealed, I tried to sit up by moving my hands away from my half-off jeans and shoving them back down. What the hell is going on? Is it possible that I'll get raped? It was at this point that I started shouting and panicked.

My lips was crushed shut by a hand. “Samantha! Samantha Bear, it's just you and me here! "Jeez, calm down," Henry yelled loudly, shoving me to the ground again. When I opened my eyes, his lovely green eyes were just inches from from mine. I burst out crying with tears of relief. Oh, thank goodness, it was only Henry. I wrapped my arms around his neck and gripped him tightly. He didn't move.

"It's all right. Sorry for the hushed tone. You dozed off in the backseat of the car. "I was just putting you to bed," he murmured in my ear as he smoothed my hair down. "That's all," I said. I took a few steps back and looked around. I was in my room, lying in my bed, and he had already pulled my boots off for me. I came to the realization that he must have carried me out of the car and was attempting to keep me from waking up. That is very lovely!

I giggled, embarrassed by my own stupidity. "Please accept my apologies." He started rubbing my hair and my heart rate began to slow. "You scared the living daylights out of me," I confessed, pushing my jeans even further down, but I was clearly inebriated because they didn't move any more than they had before. His laughter made me laugh, and he helped me take them off. He then stripped off his clothing and went into bed with me.

He sat on his side with his back to me, but he didn't come close to touching me. The first time we'd slept in the same bed since he kissed me, he appeared to be completely at a loss as to what to do. My eyelids were beginning to droop once more, and I realized that it wouldn't be long before I was fast asleep. In order to get him to roll onto his back, I pressed down hard on his chest, and he lifted his arm around me as I nuzzled up to his chest. I fell asleep to the sound of his heartbeat, which I had heard him laugh softly earlier in the night.

The following week passed in a whirlwind; Henry and I were entirely back to our old selves; there was no awkwardness at all anymore, which was wonderful. In my new school, Susan and I had become great friends, and I had begun to hang out with her group of friends as well, who were all quite pleasant people.

Because I was friends with Mr Popular, I was well-liked by my classmates at school. Henry was his normal charming protective self around me; I had a sneaking suspicion that he was keeping the males at bay, but I was still getting hit on quite a bit! They were all politely declined by me. Today was another Friday, which was nice.

The three of us were sitting on the bleachers with Susan and Reece, all three of us wearing Henry's shirt, and we were gleefully munching into hot dogs. I was trying my hardest to concentrate on the game this time; Henry had been trying to teach me some of the rules so that I would be prepared to watch, but everything was moving so quickly that I couldn't keep up.

The voice of someone sitting next to me, Blake, remarked, "Hey, you never phoned," in a sultry tone. I recognized his voice right once. I tried not to look at him since I didn't want to be forced to gaze at his hotness again, and he was far too old for me to deal with! So, that doesn't rule out the possibility of a little flirtation, I thought to myself.

"Hmmm, I had other things to do," I remarked, waving my hand dismissively in the direction of the group.

"Better things, perhaps? The only thing that could possibly be better than going on a date with me?" He asked, a little taken aback by the fact that he wasn't used to rejection! No surprise given his appearance; I'm sure he has plenty of ladies falling at his feet on a consistent basis.

My eyes met his for the first time as I turned to face him and added, "Washing my hair, walking the dog, cleaning the house, you know that type of thing." Oh my God, he's even hotter than I remembered him to be! His blue eyes were wide open, beaming with delight.

In his confident tone, he said, "You have no idea what you're missing out on."

It's possible for me to guess what the date would be like: some awful food, maybe a crappy movie where you'd insist on sitting in the back so we could make out, and then depending on how well the night went, there might be a little activity in the car as you dropped me off, am I on the money?" I inquired, my brows knit together.

His laughter was amusing, and he replied, "Pretty close," shaking his head amusedly.

He drew close to me. "You know how much I enjoy a good challenge," he said softly in my ear, sending thrills down my spine once more.

The seductive smirk returned my whispered response, "Well then, you're definitely in the correct spot, since I can be pretty challenging."

With one arm wrapped around my shoulder, he replied, "Hmm, I can see that." I swiftly elbowed him in the side and stood up to say something.

"Jerry, get your skinny ass off the ground! That ball isn't going to come in by itself!" We teased each other often and Jerry was an all-around wonderful man, so I shouted, giggling as he waved and shook his head at me, I truly liked Jerry.

As I sat back down, I made sure to leave a small amount of space between Blake and myself, but it didn't matter since he moved up next to me as soon as I sat down on the Bench again. "Are you doing anything tonight?" he said with a smile, and I nodded slowly, fighting back a smile.

"And tomorrow?" he inquired, to which I responded with another yes. "And I suppose the day after that?" he said with a sigh. I nodded and concealed a smile at his playful annoyance; I could tell that he was actually quite enjoying the pursuit, especially considering that it was his first time participating in one.

In a long, steady motion he ran a finger up my calf and down my thigh. "I'm not giving up, I'll come back every week and ask you out until you say yes."

I'm not kidding when I say that you're wasting your time. I mean, do you even remember my name?" When I looked at him, he bobbed his head and appeared to be a bit upset with himself.

Then he frowned as if he were admitting to some sort of weakness, saying, "Of course I do Samantha, I haven't been able to stop thinking about you since last Friday."

Oh my God, that's so wonderful, I thought to myself as I smiled. No, Samantha, he's just a jerk who's attempting to get his hands on your pants for some reason. Blake, I'm only 16 years old. I'm not sure how old you believe I am, but I'm not. He was a little taken aback by what I said, so I stated it with a shake of my head.

"Oh my God! Really?" "I thought you were 18," he continued, looking at me with wide eyes, "you're so close with Williams, he's a senior, so I assumed you were too," he added, shaking his head slowly and looking at the floor.

"So, as I previously stated, you're wasting your time," I remarked, shrugging and returning my attention to the game, thinking that to be the end of the talk; however, it was not the case.

"So you've just turned 16 or..." he inquired, his voice dropping off as he looked at me eagerly.

When I responded "Err, no, I'll be 17 next month, on the 25th," he looked a bit surprised, but then he looked a little more delighted.

"All well, then you'll only be out for a year," he remarked with a wink. What the hell was he talking about when he said that? What did you get a year off of? I made my best 'what the fuck' face at him, and he burst out laughing.

"What do you mean, a year off?" With my brows raised, I inquired.

"Do you have any idea what I'm going to call you from now on?" He said, completely ignoring my inquiry, and I grinned, thinking, "What the heck is this going to be about?" "Jailbait," he added, a sneer on his face.

I burst out laughing. "Jailbait?" I inquired, my brows raised, shaking my head.

If you keep looking so damn good, chances are you'll get me tossed in there," he added, his face no longer bright with happiness. Was it just me, or did he appear to be in a bad mood when he said that?

"You'd better quit talking to me then," I said, frowning. I stated I was going to watch the game again, but I couldn't take my eyes off of his dejected countenance.

While I was watching his ass walk away and biting my lip, I thought I heard him remark, "Yeah maybe I should." He got to his feet and stood up and walked away again.
