"Oh. You are in Tagaytay?" Dave wrinkled his brows. "And, you drove there?"
I grew up with Dave. He's my childhood best friend, so he basically knew that I was just pretending to be a simple girl. Well, I am still a simple girl, it is just my family ain't one.
"You finally bought a car?" He rolled his eyes. "I've been telling you to do that for the last few years. Why just now?"
I chuckled a bit as I walked towards the glass window overlooking the city. Through the phone, I showed him the place. We used to grab coffee in the town back then. He's really my go-to-best friend.
"Because you are no longer here to fetch me," I joked although that was quite true because he's always been there to pick me up wherever I go.
He just decided to leave the city after our graduation day to work with his family who is also in Spain.
"Gray's there, dude!" He scowled. "Why is he not picking you and letting you drive alone? Do you want me to punch him?"
I laughed at his expression. It showed like he was ready to punch Gray any moment.
"Your boyfriend has a lot of cars plus he owns an airline. Just go and ask him to send you a private plane." He told me.
"Wait…what?" I paused as I sat down on the couch.
Lyuna was still sleeping and I am just waiting for her to wake up before we go home. I am still a bit dizzy but it's manageable. Plus, we need to go back because we still have work tomorrow.
"He owned an airline?" I said in amazement. "I didn't know that."
"What else do you know about him?" Dave rolled his eyes. "You didn't even let him court you. You just said yes that easy. How unfair is that!" He acted that he was in pain, there's still some, though I know he already moved on from me.
"You didn't court me!" I reacted. "What's with the face?"
"You never let me court you." He stuck his tongue out. "You are kinda unfair with Mattel."
I paused upon hearing the name. It's been a long time since I heard that name from someone I knew although I heard and read it in news and even from the internet. It's a famous name that's difficult to forget.
"Mattel's…" I sighed. I really don't know what to say after that.
"What if Mattel comes back? What are you going to do?" Dave asked me.
"Mattel…"
"See…you don't even know the answer. Are you just using Gray to forget about Mattel?" Dave groaned in frustration. "Don't tell me that!"
"Of course not!" I reacted. "I love Gray, okay? And, Mattel and I were not even a couple to begin with."
"He promised you that he would be back."
"He broke that promise. Am I not allowed to move on?" I scowled.
"Have you ever asked yourself the true meaning of love? I mean, how were you able to say that you do love Gray?"
"I've known Gray since…"
"Since he started writing on that platform?" He cut me. "You only know half of him but not the real him. How could you say that what you are feeling is love? Have you ever thought that maybe you are infatuated or just overwhelmed because you saw your long-time crush and finally he already had a face." He explained which made my mind blow.
"Why are you confusing me? I told you, I love Gray and I care for him. We are together and…"
"Why did you say yes to him so easily?" He added again. He really doesn't like the idea of me answering Gray that easy.
What can I do? I already did it and so far I am not regretting my decisions. There are times when I think about it, but like he said, he has a lifetime to prove his love for me. So, am I. We are giving each other a chance. We will make it work, no matter what happens. And, it doesn't matter how and when we started.
"Well, I just don't wanna waste any time and I do really--"
"Have you ever thought of what would Mattel feel?"
I heaved. It never occurred to me. Does it even matter? We are not together and… what are we? We had a thing but… I don't know what happened to us. We just became strangers.
"He didn't even think of me when he did that." I frowned and suddenly got sad upon thinking about Mattel.
What the hell is this love?
Gray's my first boyfriend yet I've been on dates and I could say that I did fall in love once or twice. I am not just sure what love even means. I was young and a hopeless romantic trying to find a perfect love but when Mattel disappeared, I realized that there is no such thing as perfect love. We just have to make it perfect despite its imperfections.
Okay, I never thought about this. I already forgot about this and now Dave is talking to me, trying to mix my feelings. Ugh! This is giving me a headache.
"Let's just forget about this, okay? Why are we even talking about this?" I rolled my eyes. "I will hung up if we - -"
"Crossroads will have their concert in the Philippines before this year ends." Dave said.
"What?" My eyes widened and eventually felt the butterflies in my stomach not because I am having jittery feelings but for the reason that I am getting nervous.
"You are kidding?"
"No." He smiled. "Why would I do that when you know what it means when he holds a concert here."
There was silence for a minute until Lyuna came up from the room, massaging her head.
"Hey, what time is it?" She asked upon looking at the clock. "Ugh! I am having a headache!" She fell off the couch.
"Saved by Lyuna," Dave grinned over the screen. "I'll call some other time. Just letting you know. Don't say I didn't warn you."
He blew kisses before hanging up. I sighed and tried to remove things from my mind and just focused on Lyuna who was having a mental breakdown. I pity her yet I don't know what to do. I am not good at comforting people and I really don't want to get it between them so I am just letting her vent.
I also don't know Dio's story. I told him about Lyuna, but he isn't replying. I even told him our location so it was up to him if he would…
My mind reverted back to reality when the doorbell rang. We weren't expecting anyone since I didn't order any food. I was even ready to go and just waiting for Lyuna to fix herself.
Since she's not in her usual self, I was the one to open the door.
"Dio!" I gladly said upon seeing him because I somehow expected him and was waiting for him so they could both settle it.
However, I wasn't expecting him to be with Gray.
"I picked him up and taught him how to be a real man. So, can you now leave them both and be with me?" He winked before mouthing I miss you.
"I'll get my bag," I said and immediately grabbed my bag on the table.
"Lyuna. You need to talk to him, so I will go."
"What?" She widened her eyes. "No! I will not talk to him-"
"You will because I might buy you a house and a lot if you will continue crying the whole year," I said in poker face. "Settle it. Okay?"
"I think I'd like the house more," she pouted.
"I'll see you at home. Bye!" I waved and didn't let her finish her sentence.
I glared at Dio and warned him. "Please, if you love her. Do the right thing."
Dio just nodded as he went inside. He was so sad and pale. What happened to both of them? I am shipping them forever and hope that the ship won't sink.
"How did you find me?" I turned to Gray.
He hugged me as he whispered words that sent shivers in my body.
"It's because I always know where to find my home."
"Why are they so cheesy?" I giggled as I pinched his cheeks.
"I love you!" He kissed my forehead. "Come on, let's go."
"Where are we going?" I asked.
He just smiled and didn't answer my question. Well, as long as I am with him, it doesn't matter where.
