Maymunah wanted to see her.
Kendra had half a mind to ignore the Oracle’s summons, but she had been told that it seemed urgent.
And Kendra knew that Maymunah was usually the type to wait for you to cool down and approach her on your own. She didn’t go seeking people out like that, especially when she knew they were angry at her.
So she found herself heading towards the old woman’s wing, clad in just her nightwear and a robe, but not really caring because it was just going to be the two of them, and she wasn’t really going to spend much time there.
Imagine her surprise when she got there only to realise that they were not alone.
At that point, turning back to go and change seemed like a really unnecessary thing to do. It wasn’t exactly as if she was completely naked, hell… you could even call her nightwear fairly decent as compared to some of the things the other she-wolves strutted about in in the guise of clothes.
And so Kendra entered the room, greeting the two inhabitants… a bit colder than usual, but she barely realised, her mind fixed instead on why Killian was wearing a cloak indoors and why he couldn’t fucking meet her gaze.
Had their relationship deteriorated that badly?
“Kendra! Thank you for showing up, I really need your help.”
“Well, I’m here, aren’t I? Please get to it already so I can leave, I’m afraid I have other things to attend to.”
“Before we do this,” The oracle started, “Know that I— that we really respect your decision to not want to help, but we are kind of at our wit’s end and you’re the only one who can help—”
“Maymunah, stop. Just stop it, please.” Kendra cut her off, a feeling that felt quite similar to hurt, but not quite filling her chest. “If you respect my decisions like you are claiming, I don’t think you would have sent for me only to put me in the same situation again.” She threw at the oracle. She turned to leave. “My decision has not changed. I cannot do this… I-I won’t.”
“Kendra.”
The female-Beta stopped in her tracks. She was almost at the door when he called out her name, and even though her brain had screamed at her to keep walking, she found that her heart rather wanted her to stay.
The curly-haired she-wolf slowly turned to face her Alpha, her breath catching in her throat at the sight that greeted her brown-eyed gaze.
“Killian,” She whispered softly, eyes wide.
Her best-friend had removed the cloak that was covering his face, but instead of the handsome, well chiseled face that she had come to know so well… she was met with his fearful, cursed form.
Kendra was by his side in a flash.
“What happened? W-what’s going on?” She rushed out, trying hard, but failing to meet his terrifying gaze.
He looked even more horrifying this time.
The Alpha chuckled sadly. “Long story, but that’s why you’re here. I—we need your help to try to connect the dots to see if we can understand what is happening.” He explained.
“B-but I still don’t get it.”
“I tried to get intimate with Artemis, and then this happened, okay?” He burst out, his tone angry, and slightly accusing. “I figured that since you had broken the impotency curse, I could perhaps go on with our initial plan of letting Artemis fall in love with me since you weren’t open to the idea of helping out… this is what I got for trying.”
This time the jealousy struck in her chest, sharp and bright… but Kendra did her best to quell it.
What exactly did she think?
That he was going to wait for her to come around?
The wolf had a month and a few days to break the curse or lose everything, and yet here she was, feeling brokenhearted that at the first sight of Artemis, he went running into her arms.
“It’s been almost two hours now, and it’s not showing any signs of disappearing.” He finished, snapping her out of her thoughts.
“And that’s why we need your help, Kendra…” Maymunah started. “Killian seems to think that his current situation has something to do with you, and I think he is right. Selene is punishing him for turning to someone else other than the mate she has selected for him.”
“Uh…” Kendra didn’t even know what to say. “So… what am I supposed to do now?”
“I think contact just might do the trick.” Came the Oracle’s answer.
“Where contact is?”
“Relax child, you could start with something simple and easy for the both of you… like holding hands, or hugging.” She explained. “But I should warn you though, that you might have to go to quite uncomfortable extremes, like kissing… and even that might not work. But we need to exhaust all of these options first, if it doesn’t work, I’ll take Killian to go see a witch in Kreiway so she helps him out.”
“Why don’t we just go and see the witch then, Maymunah?” Killian interjected. “I wouldn’t want to put Kendra in an uncomfortable position.”
I would love to be in all kinds of uncomfortable positions with you, Kill.
Kendra blushed at her subconscious’ wild, wild, wild thoughts. Now wasn’t exactly the time to be thinking about such erotic things.
“It’s the same thing she’s going to ask you to do in the initial processes.” Came the Oracle’s answer. “Best we do it at your own pace and in a comfortable place, than under her watchful gaze.”
Kendra didn’t really know what to say, and from the way Killian shuffled uncomfortably, he felt the same way too.
“You two need to make up your minds, and fast… because if you’re able to turn him back, Kendra, it wouldn’t last for long,” The Oracle warned, her eyes a gleaming white, “This is but only a quick fix. Alright, I’ll leave you two to it. Stand in that circle when you’re ready,” She gestured towards a complicated looking circle drawn in limestone and white clay and headed out after that, leaving the two of them all alone.
The fringes on Kendra’s robe suddenly seemed much more interesting and more deserving of her attention.
Kendra cleared her throat noisily to relieve the room off the tension that ensued just as soon as Maymunah closed the huge door shut, her eyes still unable to look the Alpha in the face. “Alright!” She breathed out. “Let’s get this over and done with, Kill. W-what do you suggest we start with?”
“How about you start with looking at me, Ken?”
Well, that was easy?
Kendra tried, but she realised that she couldn’t hold his gaze for long. The action invoked a chuckle and a scoff out of the Alpha.
“You can barely look me in the eyes, Kendra… how do you think we’re going to pull this off?”
“But I’m looking at you, Killian!”
Liar.
“Alright. Come closer.”
Kendra swallowed at that. He had her cornered over there, but oh, she was no scaredy cat. She took a tentative step forward.
“Closer, Ken,”
Another step.
This time Killian didn’t say anything, he just laughed. The sound infuriating Kendra so much that she closed the distance between them and shot him an annoyed glare.
“Ah, there she is… now that wasn’t so hard, was it?” He teased.
Her heart went out to him as she observed his horrendous face. For the love of her, she couldn’t understand just how he still had the strength to find things amusing— t-to keep on keeping on.
She was hugging him before she even realised it, another set of stray tears making its way onto her face.
This was the second time she was shedding tears for her best friend.
“Now, don’t you cry, Kendra. Everything is going to be alright.” The young Alpha soothed even though he didn’t believe a single word he was telling his friend. They hugged in silence for what seemed like an eternity, but then Killian just had to go and break the peace and quiet.
“I-I just don’t understand… is the thought of being my wife that horrible to you?”
Kendra pulled away, her face white in horror. “No! No, Killian… trust me when I tell you that it’s not you. It’s just the thought of marriage in general that is freaking me out.” She tried to change the subject. “Look, can we move on to the reason why we’re here?”
Killian nodded. “So, apparently contact and a hug didn’t work, meaning we’re going to have to go a bit further. Is that okay with you?”
The dark she-wolf swallowed.
Why was she suddenly nervous?
She had done this with him before, so what was going on?
Well, the other times were quite spontaneous… these seem pretty pre-meditated to me.
Her subconscious teased, but for once, Kendra agreed.
“Sure, sure… I’ll be fine.” She raised her head to look up at him again, briefly wondering how she was going to press her lips on his— they weren’t even exactly lips anymore.
Kendra closed her eyes, picturing her best friend in his normal form— in the form that she usually pleasured herself to.
And suddenly, it didn’t seem so hard anymore.
Standing on her tippy toes, she leaned in and pressed her lips against his— short and sweet.
But nothing happened.
The female-Beta felt her heart sink in dismay. She had honestly believed with all her heart that it would work.
Even through his weird form, Kendra saw Killian’s jaws clench… a tell-tale sign that he was getting angry.
“Well, that went well,”
The sarcasm wasn’t lost on her as she heard him continue, “I’m going to go call Maymunah… perhaps, she’d want us to leave for Kreiway tonight.”
She reached for his hand before she could even realise it. “Wait! W-what if we try again, hm? Perhaps a little more tongue this time?”
Though his face was pretty much the same, Kendra thought she heard him chuckle. “Ready when you are then, milady.”
And so for the second time in that night, their lips found each other, with things quickly turning heated. Kendra cut things off before it got too far, stepping back to observe her friend and see if there had been any changes,
But there was still nothing.
Kendra tugged at her hair in frustration, a loud groan escaping her when she realised that they had been doing things wrong.
“Killian, the circle! We’re supposed to be in the circle!”
Killian face-palmed at their obvious mistake, feeling his heart soar with hope once more. Without another word, he reached for her hand and pulled her into the circle with him.
Apparently that was all they needed— a mere touch of hands.
For Killian’s cursed form started to disappear off his face, a golden-like kind of light engulfing him… making him look like an angel of some sort.
Kendra couldn’t control it… this was more than desire—
This was an insatiable, inexplicable type of hunger.
She didn’t even try to make sense of it, or try to fight it… she just grabbed him by his coat and pulled him in for another earth shattering kiss.
A soft moan escaped her when he tugged her close, returning her kiss with just as much fervor.
It was though they were both possessed, and maybe they were… because the passion that radiated off the both of them was enough to burn—enough to consume.
Oh, but in that moment, they didn’t seem to care. It was just about living in that moment, and they actively took advantage of it. Kendra’s fingers tugged at Killian’s hair, her core getting wetter and wetter at each groan that escaped his lips at each tug.
Killian’s own hands roamed his Beta’s body, pulling, caressing, teasing, squeezing.
Just as they were starting to drown, they heard the door open, the action causing them to begrudgingly pull apart.
“Oh, goddess! I’m so sorry,” The Oracle apologized, but from the wicked gleam in her eyes, Kendra wasn’t exactly sure she was as sorry as she proclaimed.
She on the other hand was quite grateful for Maymunah’s timely interruption.
Who knew how far things would have gone if she hadn’t barged in?
“Oh, it’s good you came in,” She brushed off the Oracle’s apology, while trying to inconspicuously tie her bathrobe which had come undone somewhere during their passionate session. “I believe we’re done here,” She shot Killian a quick glance, blushed at the satisfied smirk he had on his face and quickly looked away. “Your suggestion worked just fine, so I guess I’ll be taking my leave now. Have a goodnight.”
With those words, Kendra dashed out like the room was on fire.
