Iris's POV
I wiped my face, as I walked away from Cathy, I don't know what have come over me, this passed days I just can't get Rupert out of my head and to think that I was having dreams about him again dreams that I was kissing him and end up grabbing Cathy thinking she is Rupert.
But I have to forget about him, the faster I get a mate, the faster I will forget about him and focus on my pack and give them the rulership they deserve.
"Alpha Iris, I will go on now, Brother only said I should remind you that you are meeting with Alpha Brown from the Blue Moon pack."
"Alright, I will be with him." I could hear the sound of the door opening and closing, I rest my head lazily on the wall, after some time, I did have my shower and went to meet up with him, hoping that he will be different from the former, it's turned out same, he couldn't stop talking about my beauty like he was obsessed with my beauty.
"Iris, hope you don't mind me using your name because I too wouldn't mind you using my name, like you dropping the word alpha and calling me, Brown."
"Alpha Brown..." He frown at me. "sorry brown and you could call me Iris." He smiled placing my hand on his lips.
"What a beautiful personality for a beautiful alpha, I bet I could be the talk of the territory, and my name on the lips of other Alpha that my mate is the most beautiful and smartest of all Luna."
"Yet again, another dick." It was uncomfortable and frustrating to have a conversation with him, and when he bid goodbye, I finally breathe the next day, I also meet up with a beta, yet again it turns out the same way, it's frustrating, this was worse because I didn't get any word from him, I was here but my heart was far from him, I was daydreaming about Rupert the whole time, as soon as he left I pulled my hair back in frustration.
"Are you disappointed with the beta as well?” Beta Drake's voice came up.
I heaved. “don’t get me wrong, they are all good and could make a powerful leader beside me but I don't feel any connections between us, there is no spiking."
"Alpha Iris, they are not your mate, you could build that spiking with time, it's not bad to pick one out of the numerous, your ceremony is coming up soon and the council is getting impatient and you have to..."
"Yes, I have thought of that, I am picking one."
"Really?" He smiled. "Who is that lucky one?"
"Drake, can you do me a favor?" I look at him, his face is that of surprise, I know that look, probably Surprised that I used his name. After hesitating for a while, he gives me a nod.
"I...want you to...as in..." I closed my eyes when I was finding the words difficult to say, batting my lashes, his eyes are still fixed on me. "I want you to marry me, as in being my mate."
Drake stood here staring at me, it's seem the world stand still and Drake couldn't pat his lips to say something.
"Drake," I called softly when no words came out.
"What did you just say?" His voice was coarse.
My eyes shut, with my fist balled at my side, trying to gain the courage to speak again, I never thought that this could be difficult, he is my beta, and I should be the one emitting this aura, not him. "I said claim me, let's be mate." I finally said when I gain my courage. Still, he didn't say a word.
"The thing is, all those numerous alpha and beta that I have met for these past weeks, I couldn't find any spike between us, and I am not interested in anyone and I really don't want to have anything to do with anyone that couldn't give me that spike, so if you agree to claimed me, we could be a perfect team, even though you aren't in love with me and I too, I am not in love with you but you have nothing to worry about, you could leave when you found your mate and come to think of it, you will become the Alpha." I paused, still not a word came out and I try to rake my brain to see what I forgot. "Perfect, you see, we don't have to consummate our marriage, so you are a free man, this union is just that of formalities."
It seem I trigger his bad mood, his eyes turned black.
"Did you ever think before you speak?" I stared at him. "Yes, did you hear yourself talk?"
I shrugged. "Yes, I did and I have taken a good meditation on that before concluding, I would not have brought it to your notice if it's not the best option and the only option." This time my voice was firm. "so what is your answer?" I didn't wait for him to counter me, I need an answer.
He stood from the couch at my office. "It's a no"
"Why?" I grabbed his hand not letting him leave without trying to persuade him.
"It's because it's a bad idea and I don't see how we are going to connect in such an awkward situation."
"Now you are yelling it's a bad idea because you don't feel connected to me, but you didn't think it's a bad idea when you shove those males at me that I don't feel any connections with," I yelled at him. He went mute. "maybe, you should tell me, a better option that you think could solve all this." I gave out my alpha aura, but still, he look at me in the eyes without cowering.
"Pick from the list of alpha left, you should make your choice."
"And I have made my choice, I have chosen you, and you will do what your alpha wants from you, you will not disobey your alpha, come to my coronation, I will not only declare you as my beta but also my mate."
"I don't want to fucking die yet, I don't want to die before I meet my mate." He yelled, taking me about.
"What do you mean you don't want to die yet? No one is Killing you, it's just you and I having this stuff and no one will even know."
"Not when Rupert is alive, I will never take what belongs to him, I still fucking love this breath of mine, it's either you pick from the other alpha or ready to meet the last alpha in the list, which is alpha Asher from Moonlight pack tomorrow."
