Iris's POV
"No, he is not worth it, I couldn't bring myself to have someone like him as my mate, he is going to turn the pack into something I can't tell."
"Okay then, I will send messages to the other alpha or will you like me to also entertain the other pack beta?"
"Hmm, I never thought of that." I smiled looking at him. "Sure, let my next meeting after this alpha be a beta, maybe, he will be more responsible and pay attention to my needs.
"Sure alpha Iris, you should rest now." He exit the door leaving me to fall to my bed, I was exhausted that I didn't waste time before diving into dreamland, the son Ray was what woke me up.
"Shit, Susan put the curtains down, I am still very sleepy."
"Alpha don't sleep at this time." I jumped off the bed, as I heard the voice.
"Ariana, what are you doing here this early?"
"I thought of coming to see the alpha that has forgotten her friend." She teases me.
"Stop that, you and I know that, I didn't, I asked Mason to send you to me, a few days ago but he send that asshole to me." She smirked, I stand from the bed. "didn't he tell you?"
"Nope, he didn't, he only said that you were busy when I asked after you. So tell me, what have you been busy with?" I slipped into my bathrobe.
"Busy looking for a mate." She tittered at my words. "stop laughing, it isn't funny, I thought being an alpha and saving my pack, protecting the members of my pack, and being a good alpha is all that I need, I never thought that my personal life will be their business as well."
I sighed as I sip on my tea. "so you are having an arranged marriage, as humans do."
"Is that what they call it?" I asked.
"Yes, so are you getting married?" She too sip on her tea.
"I am not getting married to someone I don't know." I mouthed.
"That you can't avoid, one day, you will get a mate, so it's either now or later, just like Rupert. He..."
"Can we not talk about Rupert?" I scoffed, she pinned her lips together.
"Sorry, so what are you going to do?"
"I don't want to get a mate that I don't love, I only want a mate that I love." Ariana tittered.
"Have you forgotten that you are an alpha now, in this world that you belong to right now, there is nothing like love but politics, your parents might be lucky to find each other, and those of us that are fated to those who love us." I fall back to the bed staring at the ceiling.
"Iris..." She called I sit on the bed fast. "Sorry alpha Iris."
"Don't be ridiculous, I am still Iris, nothing change about me."
"I have an idea, maybe you could pick a chosen mate, you could negotiate with him, tell him that you will accept him as a mate, and he will gain access to power, he could be ruling beside you, but he is not going to touch you. And he could be with whoever he wanted if he need an heir." I stared at her. " Sorry, it's just some stupid thought, I was only blabbering." She speaks fast.
"No, that is not what I think, I think it's the most brilliant idea that I have heard in the past weeks, after my next meeting with the next alpha, I could option for that." I pulled her into a hug.
"I think I have an idea of who to option for."
"Who is it?"
"It's a secret, I am going to tell you after I meet up with the next alpha on the list."
"Okay, so let's go have a tour, I want to see your lovely pack."
"Of cause, I need air as well, let me wear something nice."
"Sure, alpha Iris." Ariana had always been good company, we did have a lot of fun during the day, and I didn't remember anything about my problem we have dinner before she left when I retire to my chambers, I was tired so it didn't take long before my eyes closed, Sally is been absent, I know she is alive but she isn't talking to me and even the suggestion Ariana give didn't make her excited, so I am all alone.
I felt a cold breeze hit my face, and my door crack open, I turned and see the direction the noise is coming from.
"Rupert, what are you doing here? My eyes met the man resting lazily at my doorframe.
"To see you, did you dress so sexy for me." I lower my gaze, watching my transparent nightgown that was barely covering anything on my skin, and to think that my thigh and legs are exposed, I try to stand when I noticed where his eyes are fixed on, and in a flash, he pinned me to the bed and used his fingers to trace my legs to my thigh.
I shut my eyes as his fingers makes their way to the Hem of my nightwear, then his finger slipped under my gown and his face came closer to mine, his breath was on my face. I was waiting for his lips to meet mine.
"Open your eyes Iris" His baritone voice was angelic and sending shivering into me, and my anticipation become high, I don't want to watch his eyes, all I wanted was his lips and hand doing magic to my body.
"Come on, don't be stubborn open your eyes."
"Why do I have to open my eyes? just kiss me, Rupert, I am all yours." I mouthed.
"Are you sure, you are all mine?" I grabbed his neck, pushing our face closer, his lips is just an inch from me, and I know the next few minutes, our lips will clash.
"Alpha Iris, wake up."
"Just a little bit closer."
"Alpha Iris..."
"Please kiss me," I murmured, my grip become stronger, and he was struggling to get off me, I try to understand him, then the kiss finally comes, not on my lips but on my nose, it was shorter than I expected, something was different, the sound of female laughter had followed the act, and my eyes flew open.
"You" I almost yelled pushing her from my grip, this naughty Cathy. She couldn't stop her laughter, we are a little closer knowing that she is the only female around and my beta sister apart from Susan and Ariana, she is among the few she-wolves I could talk personal stuff with.
I sat on my bed, looking at her annoyingly. "Can you stop laughing at your Alpha?"
"Sorry alpha Iris." She said amid her laughter.
"Now I see you want to get punished." I fake a false facade.
"Sorry... I am sorry." she tries to hold her breath. "Now tell me, who were you dreaming of?"
I shrugged. "no one."
"No, I don't think so, you were pouting really bad like someone desperate for a kiss." She chuckled and I felt embarrassed, I stood fast from the bed.
"I see you want to get punished.
"Tell me alpha Iris, is it alpha Rupert, you are dreaming of, Brother told me that you are..."
"No, I am not dreaming of Rupert."
