Iris's POV.
Beta Drake and I were at the office, after I send Rupert out, we were sending out the invitation that was left for my alpha coronation tomorrow and we were having a last check on the things that need to be done and fixed for the coronation.
"So it's all set right?" I asked beta, Drake.
"Yes, so you said you are not announcing your mate yet." I move my eyes to Drake.
"I would love to, if only you accept my proposal"
"Please don't give me that look, I already told you, I can't do that, I would gladly accept if I wanted to be your mate, or feel a little spark for you."
"Would you had accept if Rupert is not in the picture?" He looks at me, as he moves his gaze from me.
"Don't get me wrong, if I had felt a little spark between us, I would have jumped at the opportunity but I don't have the quality of an alpha and I want to meet my mate."
He stop talking and was expecting me to say something but my eyes and fist were clenched and some intensifying pain hit my chest and my wrist, a mark was appearing on it.
"Iris." He called, I pinned my lips trying to bear the pain that was coming.
"Fuck, I can't." I cried out while I writhe and struggles to bear the pain, I haven't felt this kind of pain all my life, I bit my bottom lips, trying to suppress the pain.
"Alpha Iris, are you..." Beta Drake rushed to me, he wanted to hold me, when he saw my wrist he move from me and my gaze move to him, my eyes had changed color.
"What is it, am I dying?" I asked as tears drop my eyes, I clenched my fist, dug my claws into the chair, and pushed myself off the couch, as I was salivating.
"Your mate, he is mating with someone."
"What? I don't have a mate." I voice out but the pain hit me more.
"I don't think so, that mark on your wrist is evidence that your mate is somewhere mating with another."
"Dammit, how could the goddess gift me with another asshole as a mate?" I cried as the pain becomes unbearable and heat packed into my system, I too wanted a male to touch me, and as my gaze changed, I run my tongue over my lips, my eyes covered with desires, I was staring at Drake, he is like my prey. Launching myself towards Drake but he veers, I struggle on the floor trying to attack him again.
"Please, don't." I look at him. "I will help you but please don't kiss me."
My tears drop, the pain is too much for me and whoever that bastard is, he must be ruthless, how could he touch another while we are mates?
"How can I promise you, I will not kiss you, when I am dying? I need you, please touch me" I managed to speak.
"You have to, I don't want to die yet, I don't know who you are mate to, I don't know if he is a monster, I don't want to be killed by whoever you are mate to."
"Fine, I will try." I finally agree, biting my lower lips with my teeth.
"Give me a few minutes and don't go anywhere." I nodded with watery eyes, as he pulled the door, I could feel Sally's restlessness, my heat hit the rock and there is no turning back, all I wanted was to shift and go look for someone that could put this heat away from my body.
"Ah" I let out a sharp pain, as I go on my four, I was ready to let Sally out, so we could look for any male wolf when the door flew open, Drake was standing there, and he stared at me.
"Iris, what are you doing?"
"I need to let Sally out since you can't help me, I don't want to die here." He smiled coming closer to me, I thought he was going to kiss me, and he pushed the drugs into my mouth.
"Go on and drink it, why wouldn't I help my Alpha." He is cunning but I love it, I drink, it was eight pills.
"Wouldn't this be too much?" I asked with gritted teeth.
"Your wrist shows that the person giving you those bruises must be ruthless in bed. So you need more." I managed to smile at his words.
"Are you sure it will help?" He raised his eyes as he help me to the bed in my room, leaving the office, the pain is no longer as severe as the pain earlier.
"Of cause, it will." He stretches out Ice to me. "Use it on your wrist, chest, and arms, if you think you want a little pleasure, it will help calm your heat."
"Thank you, so who thought you about this?"
"You are nosy?"
"Didn't you tell me that, all alpha are nosy?" He went back to the couch, he stared at me. "Go on and tell me?"
"Are you alright now?" Changing the topic, I just assumed he doesn't want to give me the story behind it.
"Hm!" I place the ice on my chest. "He hasn't stopped but I think I could manage."
"Please endure a bit, I am sure it will stop soon." I pin my lips together.
"Sorry, you will get through this." He mouthed.
"Why don't you just have me?" I asked with gritted teeth as it hit me one more time, I grabbed the ice and pushed it into my undies, and Drake turned his gaze from me. "Drake please, kiss me, I will not ask for anything else."
"Iris, I can't, you and I know that I can't, he too is going to feel that you are unfaithful."
"That will be better, it will make him reject me, I will be free then, I could live my..."
"Iris stops trying to make me change my mind, I will not do it."
"You will not do it?" I sneer at him.
"It's because I can't."
"You can't, or you don't want to help me." I growl.
"Wait, I got an idea." I look at him. "relax, this will work perfectly." He said, pulling the door. I hit my head on the wall slightly, although the drugs are working but sometimes it's just come with force and I find it difficult to endure.
"Did you want to bring me another drug?" I questioned.
"No, the solution to all your problem." I don't know what he was about to do, I only hope it works, even though the drugs were powerful, I could still feel the pain slowly, five minutes, after Drake, my body became relaxed, and slowly, my eyes closed, not because of pain, I could finally breathe.
"Is the pain still there?" Beta Drake's words hit me, I raised my head and look at him
"No, it has disappeared, tell me, what do you do?"
