I howled to my brothers and sisters, to my friends, to my family and
to Jack, a cry for survival and location. They had me
found, found the lair of the strays, did not want to know
like, but we would destroy that damn place, burn it down
only ashes remain.
I heard a chorus of familiar howls ringing in response, my eyes
burned and I could smile with relief. But my joy lasted
little when the door was opened again and the vampire came in, my
breath stopped in the throat.
I had barely been able to fight Nick, an inferior wolf, I didn’t know if
would have the strength to kill that vampire, my legs almost gave in to
each step. The vampire advanced towards me, he was dirty from
blood, I growled to know that it was the blood of my people,
wolves he killed until he caught up with me.
I threatened to attack him, but when a familiar smell hit me, I
I froze, a growl full of dominion and savagery broke the fragile
silence. The vampire widened his eyes.
That’s when a huge dark— haired wolf as the night came in
through the doors and jumped on the vampire, knocking him to the ground,
snapping at the parasite’s neck with the enormous sharp fangs,
ripping his throat out.
Jack. My heart jumped when I recognized him, that was Jack’s wolf.
I continued standing in place, watching the wolf of the Supreme tear the
vampire without mercy, barely blinked before the wild violence of the beast
making the vampire in pieces before me, just watched that
strangely satisfying scene. As much as my desire was to kill—
Lo with my own hands, thanked the moon for Jack having me
found in time.
When the wolf finished tearing the vampire apart, leaving only
pieces of the parasite through the ground, raised his head to me, and when I
I came across those beautiful red flaming eyes, I felt like
to cry, to bite my teeth, fighting tears.
The wolf approached in slow steps, the dirty black hairs of it
blood that flowed from his mouth. I shrunk the body with the noise that
echoed through the bunker, cries of cries of pain, it seemed that a war
happened in the lair.
When the black wolf stood before me, it took a few seconds
until Jack transformed and returned to human form. And see him
after all hit me like a punch in the stomach, my legs
almost failed with the naked Supreme Court vision in front of me.
On another occasion, I would admire you for hours, never get used to
the beauty of Jackson, he looked the same, if not for his
serious expression, made of ice. So cold that I felt my skin
shiver. I preferred not to think of who was all the blood that stained
his body, he had spent the last days hunting without rest,
immersed in the wound I caused in your soul,
Seeing Jackson after all he had discovered made anger ignite
inside me, and maybe I should scratch that perfect face to
get some reaction beyond indifference. As much as I was
furious, burning, longing for an explanation or simply
punch his face, that flame of anger was swallowed by the coldness of his
eyes.
By the Moon! Those gray green eyes that admired me with so much
heat, passion and love were distant, did not shine to see me, was
completely erased. My mouth dried up.
I was no longer before my Jack, the male for which I
I fell in love, I was facing the Alpha Supreme, the ruthless male,
made of steel and ice, impenetrable. And it was I who woke up the monster
asleep inside of it.
Just as I betrayed Jackson’s trust and abandoned him, he
also deceived me, lied to me and hurt my heart
a way that no one ever could. I lifted my chin, leaving
that my fervent temper would erase all the trace of the pain of
betrayal.
Jackson’s nostrils inflated when he smelled Nick in
me, your eyes hardened when you found the dead wolf’s body
near the wall. Those glowing red eyes came back
to my face.
— Did he touch her?
Hearing her husky voice made the hairs of my neck bristle. I tried
find my own voice, still shaken by his presence.
— He tried, but he didn’t
got— replied
short, almost voiceless.
Jack waved, but that cold hatred had not yet faded from
your angry eyes. I scratched my throat, rubbing my arms
chills, expelled the memory of what happened minutes ago, when
Nick almost raped me.
I had imagined what it would be like to meet Jack again several
times since the night of the abduction, I figured he’d hold me tight and
would kiss me to see me, but there was no spark of heat in
your eyes, none of the male I fell in love with.
Something had broken between us. Something very important to be
easily fixed.
Almost jumped out of fright at the sound of bones being broken in the hallway
across the door, Jack turned his head quickly, a predator
experienced. I blinked slowly, squeezing his lips when he
subtly touched my back, knowing my fear for what almost
happened.
— Come on, it’s not over yet.
Just nodded in agreement, didn’t say a word to
start walking, still limping from the wounds that healed
slowly. Those physical bruises would be easier to heal
than the open wounds in my heart. Jack pulled the pants of a
dead wolf near the door and dressed her quickly, covering her nakedness.
The hallway was dark, I needed to use my senses to deflect
bodies in pieces across the floor, twisted my nose by the rotten smell that polluted
the air, the bunker lights were turned off, but the darkness was never a
problem for the wolves. Jack continued with his hand on my back,
a touch so light and subtle that made my stomach turn.
We passed some empty rooms, the locks were broken and the
destroyed bars, I saw chains of broken silver inside each
room, knew that wolves were kept in those small cells and
dark, and if they were empty, the females were freed.
A strong dizziness hit me, Jack held me so I wouldn’t fall and
feel his firmness made me hold a sigh, my body still me
cheated when it came to my partner. Jackson smelled like home, he
brought peace and comfort to my broken heart,
Curse!
— Are you okay?— he asked softly to my ear.
I shook my head, running away from his touch and away from him,
continuing to walk.
— I will be well— assured coldly.
I felt him on my back.
— When was the last time you ate or drank anything?— asked again,
looking for more information about my condition, about what they had
done with me.
— At Ayla and Mark’s wedding.
I heard your low growl.
— That was two days ago.
I just shrugged, indifferent to that fact. I sped up, I
holding on the wall not to fall, did not trust myself close
of Jackson and that was not the time to have the conversation that
would change everything, my priority at the time was another, rescue all
the females of the lair and burn that place with the rest of
stray.
Every step away from Jack was painful, my heart was
squeezed inside my chest, the grip in my throat was
harder to ignore.
I turned the corridor and found more cells open, but I saw a
closed. I approached in slow steps and tried to see something in the room
dark, my senses detected a life inside, the sound of a
weak beating heart slowly caught my attention, a hiccup
broke the silence.
— Who are you?— the thin voice of an unknown female sounded low from
inside the cell.
— I’ll get you out of here— that’s all I said.
I took an iron bar that I found in the hall and hit us
steel padlocks on the latches a few times until I broke them,
with a kick, making a face for the pain of the wounds. I used
my vision lupine to find the female shrunk in the wall, the
body shaking with cold, as bruised as I.
— Are you all right?
When I bowed before the female, I saw that she was bound by
silver chains, I took the iron bar and hit hard on the
chains until I broke them and threw them away from the female, releasing her.
— You’re free, come with me, I’ll get you out of here— I reached out my hand.
The female threw herself at me and hugged me tightly, sobbing in
my shoulders, crying for relief, bit my lip not to cry.
I stroked her back until she calmed down so I could
Get her out of that room, rid her of my torment.
— What is your name?
She swallowed it hard.
— Daisy.
It took a few seconds for the wolf to stop crying, I helped her
get up off the ground, she was so weak that she almost couldn’t
walk, I took her out of the cell slowly, she struggled to walk,
tumbling and almost falling most of the time. When I stepped on the
runner again, saw Jack across the hall, a female
I was beside you, Raya.
— My lady— she ran to see me, panting, was dirty and with
some superficial wounds to the arms, but it looked fine.
— Get her out of here, please— I asked Raya, the wolf quickly answered my
request and passed Daisy’s arm over her shoulders, helping her to
walk.
— It’s over, that hell is over— I heard Raya tell the female and the two
disappeared in the hallway.
Jack and I were alone again, a few feet away
separating us, he was so close but so distant and cold. Jack let go
a deep sigh and held out his hand.
— Let’s end this, Hayley.
Before I could get close to him, a wolf emerged from the shadows
on Jackson’s back with a knife in his hand, I widened my eyes. Jack
was not fast enough to prevent the stray from sinking to
knife in his chest, my blood froze with the moan of pain that escaped
of my companion.
Dominated by an uncontrolled fury, I advanced against the stray and
tore his throat before he could defend himself, blood
gushed in my face and the body of the male went to the ground, agonizing until
die.
I turned around and found Jack sliding down the wall to reach the floor,
I knelt beside you and touched your face, seeing your expression
contorted in pain as he tore the knife plunged into his chest and the
threw away. I despaired at the blood that flowed from the wound, tore
another piece of the dress and took the fabric to the wound, trying to
stop the blood.
Jack closed his eyes, resting his head on the wall, he sounded and
breathed with difficulty.
— I did not fire apprehensive. — Stay awake, please.
An unbridled fear of losing Jack caused tears
run down my face, sniffed, squeezing the tissue around the
wound, his blood stained my trembling hands. Jack opened the
eyes to hear my cry and for the first time since I met him again,
Coldness of his gaze disappeared.
— Hey, don’t cry so the calm tone of your voice made my cry
enlarged, let it go and brought dirty hands to my face, trying
prevent him from seeing me cry, held the broken sound that formed
in my throat.
I was so mad at myself for not being stronger, for not
get to fight more, but was so tired of the last
events, and seeing Jack injured was desperate, would not stand
lose it. The fear was overwhelming.
His hands held mine and pushed them away from my face, I looked
to him through tears, with blurred vision. I faced those
deep eyes and tried to release my wrists from his grip, but he didn’t
I let go, kept holding me, contained a hiccup.
— It’s all right now, Hayley, calm down— whispered softly, kissing
my face wet gently. — The bastard was so dumb that
tried to kill me using an old iron knife, I will heal in
brief.
I denied it with my head.
— No, nothing is fine and you know it.
Jack held a sigh because of the wound on his chest and stared at me
for a few seconds in silence, his mouth became a rigid line
when he pressed his lips. He didn’t disagree.
Blinked a few times, taking the vulnerability away from my eyes and
again pulled my wrists, Jack relented. dried my face wet
and I controlled my emotions, I would deal with him later.
I’ll burn this place down— I told him.
— Make yourself at home.
I tightened the torn fabric of my dress on Jack’s chest, noting that
the blood had already stopped flowing, the healing factor of the Supreme was
accelerated. Jackson opened his mouth to say something, but something made him stop,
their nostrils inflated when a strange odor hit us.
— What is it?— I asked softly.
I saw the moment the beast within the Supreme awakened again,
I trembled as his eyes became gloomy.
— I know that smell.
— From where?
— It was impregnated in the body of my sister, it is impossible not
recognize.
I stressed your statement.
— Are you sure about that?
Jack looked at me and I knew what he would do.
— The wolf that raped and killed Lydia is here.
