The Moonstone's Owner Chapter 21

Faye’s Point of View.

My body was asleep, I know exactly my condition right now, but what are these I’m seeing? Mists? It’s blurry, I could be dreaming. No, I mean, I SHOULD be dreaming. Because if not, I refuse this fate.

I saw my wolf, reaching for another wolf, in the form of a mist. She was struggling to meet the other wolf… whom I know I recognized. But my wolf couldn't, it was a painful thing, but she wasn't doing this because she wants Ralph's wolf, she was dictated to mate with the wolf. She was forced.

Sometimes, all the things you wouldn’t want to happen to you will come and haunt you in your dream. I’m lucky I know that, because I could use it as an excuse for all of these things I’m seeing.

Abruptly, I was pulled back to reality I didn’t even know how. On the brink of an eye, I saw Damion, kissing my lips. Or, was he? It seems like he's not.

When our eyes met, my eyes widened, as well as his. We yelled at each other and pushed ourselves to the opposite side of us. It was so awkward! Oh please, earth, I'm ready to get eaten! Open the surface for me and escape me from this reality! God damn it!

If he wanted to kiss me, why not just ask? I’m willing to give it to him, with pleasure indeed. Hell, he still chooses to get the kiss this way, in the middle of the forest where different kinds of birds watch us innocently. I guess, he loves thrilling.

How rude… I should’ve known how we kissed.

“It’s not what you’re thinking!” he defended. I can’t blame him for being so defensive. With my stare, it could instantly make someone confess what he did. I always use this trick, and it always works! However, why is Damion still lying?

“Did I say anything?” I asked, squinting my eyes. “It seems like you were so afraid about something you shouldn’t have,” I continued teasing. He was looking away so he couldn’t see me, and it gave me the idea to tickle him.

Damion jolted and rose to avoid me. I was about to, but I was too weak, my knees shivered. I knelt and massaged the pain in my chest. It was my chest that hurts, but my knees' shivering are keeping me from standing up, what was their connection?

“H-Hey… you were just teasing me a while ago. Fine, I won’t go and let you tease me!” said Damion, kneeling to be at the same level as mine.

"It's not… I don't… it…" I can't find the right word to say. The cold breeze added to my shivering, and my chest cramping got worse and worse.

"Speak properly!" Damion yelled. He looked around, I don't know for what reason. But when his gaze and mine met, a garment was on his hand, and he covered it around me. "Hold on," he said, trembling.

"You don't have to say anything," he added and enveloped my upper body through his broad chest and arms.

I can feel through his hold he's in pain too, yet he managed to put me first than him. Dear earth, what’s hurting the two of us?

Damion and I jolted as we heard someone yell behind our backs.

“WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!” Ralph came, gasping for his breath. He brought almost half of the forest with the amount of food and medicine he had in the basket. “I told you I will do something, Damion! Why did you leave your post?!"

Damion didn’t mind him. Damion removed me from his hold and caressed my cheeks with a desperate look on his face.

“Hey, I won’t die,” I assured him.

I saw Ralph’s raging eyes behind Damion, and he was looking vexed right now. Maybe punching Damion will ease his anger, but I didn’t care and put much attention to him. My eyes wanted Damion.

“I know but it pains me to see you like this,” Damion said. “It wasn’t my intention, it was the moon goddess, okay? Just to make it clear! And it’s sickening.”

Bitterly, I smiled. Is it a mistake to fall in love, for real, with your mate? I’m starting to think, mates are just comparable to show business. Mates are like love teams, leading ladies, or leading men. But in real life, mates are just rugs, and it is nothing compared to the real lover.

What if it turns out I’m just an onscreen lover? Just the thought of it hurts my heart. Oh! My heart… but really, I'm still safe 'cause I'm not falling for him yet. Yet.

“Hey! I was talking to you, girl,” said Ralph, waving his hands in front of my eyes. “I’ve been calling you for almost an hour. Are you back to reality?” asked Ralph. He was mad, crazily wanting to cure me as soon as he could. I nodded slowly. Gosh, that was embarrassing!

“Rate from one to—” Ralph was cut short when I spoke.

“I know where he was speared,” I said. “In his heart.”

Both of their eyes widened, their mouths unlatched. “Are you seeing something we couldn’t?” asked Ralph in disbelief, hoping he wouldn't crash into laughing. What's funny, though?

Is it a funny thing?

“We’re magical creatures. Have you forgotten, Ralph? The spear is invisible," I said, gasping for my breath as it was so difficult to speak. I feel like there's something in my throat stopping me from talking.

Damion's on my side, I closed my eyes and opened them, just in time to blow into his chest.

"Now, you see," I whispered, almost closing my eyes, losing consciousness.

***

"WHAT THE HELL?!" I yelled.

All of a sudden I didn't know where I was, what happened, how did I come here— endless questions crept into my mind. One by one, none of my questions are answerable. I looked around.

Like what I saw before when I went to uncle Lowell and aunt Fatima’s villa, but black surroundings are all I see, nothing else, no more potions, glasses, cabinets, anything. It’s hurting my head. What really happened? How come I was here alone with no one on my side?

As I was recollecting the last memories I had before passing out, my head hits me hard. It’s like it was hammered with a large piece of nail.

“O-Ouch…” I can’t help grunting.

And I remember something….

All memories briefly came. There was a woman catches my eye, and Damion carries me, Ralph is arguing with him about whether he deserved to be the one carrying me rather than Damion.

A woman is watching closely, clenching her fist and drooling in vexed. She was gripping tightly on her sword. She’s beautiful.

Damion was getting weaker, Ralph take over, and finally, the woman showed up with Damion and Ralph. Her lips curled alone, not with the lips or cheeks, just her lips. Wait, was she expecting Damion to weaken his knees?

Then the woman told me about this place, she said she’ll lead the way, and… and…

Auurgh! Holy goddess, I lost my consciousness fully.

I need to wake up and find them. At least, Ralph, he’s the one I needed to meet— auurgh, okay fine, it was Damion I wanted to meet.

Slowly, I held myself up. My feet met the ground, and the door opened without a warning.

Woosh. I almost lose myself over a heart attack!

It was…

Ralph.

“Oh, earth… Finally, you’re awake!” he said, coming running to hug me. However, I didn’t let him.

I avoided his touch and glances, ‘cause if anyone sees us physically touching like the way how a couple does, it will seem like I was a traitor, a cheater, a slut! Damn, see? Even I know everything the gossippers would say. Aish!

“I-I’m sorry,” he said, jerking his body away.

“I’m fine, Ralph. How about Damion? Where is he?” I asked.

His shoulder dropped. “He’s still recovering.”

“I’m asking where is he, not how is he,” I replied calmly.

“Well, see the curtain? That curtain?” said Ralph pertaining to the curtain at the side of my bed, where weird sounds are coming from. “That’s where he is.”

My eyes widened. I suddenly felt excited. Calming myself down, slowly, I turned to the curtain and opened it.

A WOMAN IS BESIDE HIM!?

That woman…

“Damion?” I called for his name. He was awake, smiling playfully with a trace of lust for the woman. He didn’t hear me at first. So I called him again. Louder this time. He was shocked for the first few minutes and then calmed down. “D-Do you know her?” I asked though I was stuttering to speak.

Damion jerked his head on the other side. The woman showed her face and offered her hand. “I’m Mia, the Omega of Sombermane Band Pack.” I accepted her hand and smile a little.

“I’m Faye, Darlene Faye. Damion’s mate.”

Mia instantly pulled her hand from me and gave me a fierce look. W-why?

I didn’t mind thinking about it for now and went to Damion.

“Are you okay?” I asked. “You can go now, Mia. I will take care of her.”

Mia stood firm. “I can do that. You need to rest too, so just lie down where you were lying a while ago.”

“No,” I said. “It’s my job, not yours.”
