The Rejected Mate Chapter 24

I did not sleep throughout the night, I kept dialing the number that sent me messages about my parents. But it's not connecting. I did not give up till I dose off.

Waking up the next morning, feeling motivated and ready for work. I have a big mission in front of me, and I was hoping to find what will make a good impression, that can make Derick to help me so fast. I got dressed quickly, grabbed my bag and headed out of my condo.

As I stepped outside, I hailed a taxi and was about to get in when I heard someone call my name. I turned around and saw Blake standing there with a furious expression on his face. He walked up to the taxi and slammed the door shut, blocking my entry.

"What's the meaning of this, Blake?" I asked, confused and irritated.

"Why did you tell Derick where to find me?" he demanded.

"Is that why you're stopping me from going to work? Besides I don't know what Derick plans was, when I tell him your address," I replied

Blake, feeling he shouldn't have stopped me though.

Blake's anger intensified, and he told me that Leah lost her pregnancy after Derick attacked her. He blamed me for this, saying that I had brought nothing but problems since I started hanging out with Miranda.

"And why did Miranda got into this conversation? Come on, Blake, don't blame anyone for your actions! If you and your rouges did not attack Derick's pack and killed his follwer, I am sure he won't have done that to Leah."

"What! Leah is your stepsister Sophia," Blake spat.

"And what about the person you killed? He is also someone's family! And let me remind you, Leah stop being my family the moment she betrayed me!"

"I see, no wonder, I chooses her over you, and I never regret doing that. You this rejected mate. You disgusted me!" I slapped Blake, with the anger in me, after he made those statements.

Blake narraow his eyes and said to me that, "don't worry, I won't take revenge on you because you're already at your doom! Keep moving with Miranda who is hiding her identity!"

I was shocked by Blake's statement, that Miranda is hiding her identity. And I asked him what he meant by that. But he just shook his head and walked away from me, leaving me standing there, stunned.

I didn't allow Blake's words to slow me down. I got into the taxi, determined to focus on my mission. And not letting him calling me a rejected mate distract me. As the taxi drove off, I couldn't help but wonder what Blake meant about Miranda hiding her identity from me. Could my suspicious about her be true? I sign and said to myself that, Blake got some nerves calling me names, when he was the one that rejected me.

I arrived at work, after changing into my coffee shop uniform. I made my way back to the main area to start attending to customers. Maria called out my name and motioned for me to come over. She informed me that there was a customer in the VIP area upstairs who needed a coffee.

Maria handed me the coffee she had already prepared and asked me to serve it to the man. As I took the coffee, I couldn't help but notice a black rose tattoo on her wrist. I had never seen it before, and I was taken aback.

Lost in my thoughts, the coffee slipped from my hand and spilled onto the floor, drawing the attention of nearby customers. I quickly apologized, but Maria was not happy.

"This is the second time you've done this. If you do it again, I'll have to let you go," she warned, turning away to start making another coffee. She handed it over to me, and tell me to be careful with it.

I carefully took the second coffee up the stairs and found the man sitting on a luxurious couch, wearing an expensive black suit. As I approached him, I couldn't help but notice the strong, distinct scent of a Wolf emanating from him.

He looked up at me and I could feel his gaze piercing into me. I placed the coffee on the table in front of him and was about to leave when he spoke.

"Which pack do you belong to?" he asked in a stern tone.

I hesitated for a moment, then replied, "I don't belong to any pack."

The man's expression remained serious and he continued to stare at me. "And yet, you're still breathing," he remarked dryly.

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized that this man was not someone to be taken lightly. Suddenly, he stood up and walked towards me, his eyes never leaving mine.

"Perhaps you could entertain me," he said, a hint of a smirk appearing on his lips. "Transform into a Wolf for me. I haven't seen a female werewolf transform in a long time."

My heart raced at his words. I knew I couldn't transform on command, and I certainly didn't want to do it in front of this intimidating stranger. I stumbled over my words as I tried to explain.

"I can't just...I mean, it's not something I can do on command," I stammered.

The man's expression darkened and I could see a flicker of anger in his eyes. "Do you dare to refuse my request?" he growled.

I could feel my palms getting sweaty and my breathing becoming more shallow. I didn't want to anger him, but I also didn't want to transform in front of him.

"I'm sorry, I just can't," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

The man's eyes narrowed and he took a step closer to me. I could feel his breath on my face as he leaned in and spoke in a low, menacing voice.

"You should be careful, little one," he warned. "You never know who you might be dealing with."

With that, he turned and walked away, leaving me feeling shaken and confused. As I made my way back downstairs, I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in my stomach. Everything is just looking confusing and scaring, guess I have a lot to tell Derick.
