The Rejected Mate Chapter 28

I'm in my sleep, perceiving a wolf scent and it was horrible. I had to get up from my sleep and walked into my living room. My heart skipped immediately I saw Derick sitting and placing his leg on my table.

"I can't believe this! What are you doing here?" I yelled at Derick, frustrated.

He quickly stood up and said, "Oh, you're awake. I just wanted to check on you."

I looked around and remembered that my door was locked. I asked Derick how he got in here, and he pointed to my window, which left me confused.

I told him to listen to me because I don't know why he's doing this, but if he thinks he can flirt with me and make me fall in love with him, then he must be joking. I can never date someone like him.

Derick smiled and told me to wake up from my dream because he has no feelings for me. "No Alpha will date someone who has been rejected before," he said. He also mentioned that he was here because he wanted to know if I was alright concerning my parents' death and if the Black Bird Wolves pack had contacted me to release their corpses.

I felt so embarrassed after Derick made this statement. He said he would be on his way now and then left. I used my couch pillow to cover my mouth and screamed to release how I felt.

The milk was warm and soothing as it enveloped Miranda's body. She closed her eyes and let out a sigh of contentment. The black roses on the floor added a sense of dark elegance to the room. One of her female followers entered the room and offered her a glass of wine, while another brought in a tray filled with various fruits. Miranda sipped her wine and savored each bite of the succulent fruit.

"Which pack is next on our hit list?" Miranda asked one of her followers.

"The Night Walker pack," the lady replied.

Miranda's eyes gleamed with excitement. "Ah, my favorite place to drink wolf blood," she said with a wicked smile.

The lady then asked about Sophia, and what they were going to do with her next, as it seemed that Derick was getting closer to her.

Miranda's expression darkened. "Dump her parents' corpses at Derick's mansion, with evidence that will lead to him," she said coldly. "We'll make him pay for rejecting me."

The lady looked at Miranda with concern. "But Alpha Derick is a brutal Alpha," she said. "He only became soft because of the death of his sister. It's going to be difficult to frame him like that."

Miranda's anger boiled over. She stood up from the bathtub and grabbed the fork from the tray. She plunged it into the lady's neck, watching as she bled out on the floor.

"This is what happens to anyone who defies me or fears another pack or Alpha," she declared. "Except me."

Miranda got dressed and told her followers to attack the Night Walker pack at dawn and wipe out all their rouges. She then left the mansion and drove back to town in her Lexus, parking at her usual spot. She took a cab to Sophia's house.

Sophia was still grieving alone because of the statement Derick's made, she was sitting on the couch with tears streaming down her face. Miranda walked in and sat next to her, without knocking, pretending to be sympathetic.

"About your parents, is there any news concerning their corpse?" she asked softly. Sophia just look at her, without saying anything, "I'm so sorry for your loss. Is there anything I can do to help?" She asked

Sophia wiped her tears and smile at Miranda with gratitude. "Thank you," she said. "I just want to find out who did this to them and make them pay."

Miranda smiled inwardly, knowing that she was the one behind it all. "Don't worry," she said. "I'll make sure justice is served."

Miranda and I were sitting in my living room, discussing the possibility of the coffee shop staff being members of the black bird wolves pack. Miranda was convinced that they were and suggested that we storm the coffee shop and confront them.

"What if they kill us?" I asked, feeling uncertain about the plan.

Miranda acknowledged my concerns but said that we couldn't let things continue like this. I told her that I was waiting for their feedback before taking any action.

Suddenly, there was a knock on my door. Miranda offered to check it, but I insisted on doing it myself. I opened the door and found a small box wrapped in black paper with the black bird wolves' seal on it. Inside was a note with an address.

Miranda asked what it was, and I explained that it was from the black bird wolves pack. She suggested we go to the address, but I hesitated, worried that it might be a set-up.

"I should call Derick and inform him," I said.

Miranda grabbed my phone and said, "Why do you trust Derick so much? He never liked you from the start. Now you're running to him to solve your problems."

I felt anger rising inside of me and lashed out at Miranda. "I can't defend myself, and I don't belong to any pack. You're a forbidden child who doesn't belong to any pack either. Derick is the only one who can help me."

As soon as the words left my mouth, I realized what I had said and saw the disappointment and sadness in Miranda's eyes. I quickly apologized for my statement.

"I'm sorry, Miranda. I didn't mean to offend you," I said, feeling ashamed.

Miranda forgave me, but I could sense that there was still tension between us. We decided to go to the address together and confront the black bird wolves pack. As we left my apartment, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread and uncertainty about what was to come.
