~Sophia Pov~
I felt the cold metal chains pressing against my skin, making it nearly impossible for me to move around the room. It was dark, damp, and it smelled like a mix of dirt and sweat. It feels has been in this room for like days, but it was only been a few hours. My mind was starting to play tricks on me, making me see shadows in the corners of the room and hear strange noises. I was getting desperate and hopeless, until I heard the sound of the door creaking open.
In walked a group of people, dragging in a lady and chaining her up next to me. It was hard to make out her face in the dim light, but her scent was familiar. They poured water over her, and she stirred, eventually opening her eyes. It was Mia, I was surprised to see her here, at least they brought someone I knew.
The group sneered at us before leaving the room. It was just Mia and me, chained up together. I decided to break the silence and shout out her name, hoping to get some answers. She looked weak and frail, but her response was unexpected.
"Ooh, so rejected mate is here also," she chuckled.
I couldn't believe my ears. Was she really making fun of me in this state that we were in? I tried to brush it off and ignore her, but she kept going.
"It's disrespectful to be tied in the same room with a wolf who has no value like you," she screamed, calling out to the group.
I couldn't take it anymore. I told her to shut it, because we were even. The last time I heard, she was also banished from her pack. Mia just laughed it off, claiming that she already belonged to another pack, and I should stop comparing myself to her.
I smiled and asked her why she was still in captivity if she mattered so much to her pack. They should have rescued her by now. We were in the same boat.
Suddenly, the door burst open, and a group of people rushed into the room. They started unchaining me, but they were binding my eyes at the same time. I tried to shift into my wolf form, but I was too weak. I asked them where they were taking me, but nobody answered.
Mia piped up, telling them that if they intended to kill me, she would love to help them out. One of the ladies among the group didn't take kindly to her remark and slapped her across the face, telling her to shut up. But Mia wouldn't listen. She used electric sparks to make Mia unconscious.
They took me out of the room, but I had no idea where they were taking me. I kept asking, but nobody was answering. I was scared, lost, and alone.
~Derick POV~
As soon as we had planned the rescue mission for Sophia, I took charge and bound Miranda's hands and covered her eyes. I couldn't afford to take any chances with her, knowing that she's working for the enemy. We set off, and Miranda began giving us directions to their hideout.
I drove the car, carefully following her instructions. The woods seemed familiar, and I couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something off about Miranda. I stopped the car abruptly, and there was a commotion as my companions hit their heads. I turned to Miranda and whispered, "BBQM."
(Black Bird Queen Miranda)
Lucas was confused and asked me what was going on. Miranda started laughing hysterically, and I realized that we had walked straight into a trap. I told my team that we couldn't turn back now, and we had to proceed with caution.
Before they got out of the car, my team sprayed themselves with a special perfume that masked their scent, so they could sneak around the premises undetected. As they surveyed the area, I drove on and arrived at Alpha Ethan's mansion. I instructed Lucas to hold Miranda tight as I prepared myself for what lay ahead.
I changed my eye color to a dark red and unsheathed my sharp fangs as I approached the mansion. Suddenly, the four cardinal lights switched on, blinding us with their brightness. We had to use our hands to shield our eyes from the intense glare.
A female voice spoke from the light, addressing me by name. "Hello, Derick. Did you have what I asked of you?"
I replied, "I don't know because I think I changed my mind. We're here to rescue the person you held captive."
The voice replied coldly, "Oh, yes. The wolf, Sophia. I was expecting you not to keep up with the deal. But don't worry you'll find her in the basement, guarded by my most loyal followers. But first, I need you to hand over what I requested."
I asked, "What is that, is it Miranda?"
The voice said, "Don't play dumb with me, Derick. You know exactly what I'm referring to. You stole it from me, and now I want it back. Hand it over, and I'll let you leave in peace."
I chuckled softly and said, "If it is Miranda, I am sorry I won't give her back to you, and we must leave here with Sophia!"
Then we heard the bush rumbling, black bird wolves pack quickly surrounded us and ready to attack.
I realized that we were in more trouble than I thought. We had stumbled into a battle we actually prepared for, but the stakes were higher than we imagined. And we couldn't turn back now. We had to rescue Sophia and get out of there, no matter what.
Amanda snapped her finger, two of the light were switch off. And I saw Sophia besides Amanda, and Amanda begin to laugh, "Well, well, well, it seems like we have a Mexican standoff here. You have Miranda, I have Sophia, and we're both at each other's mercy." She pointed her gun towards Sophia, "But I have a feeling that you care so much about this little bitch Sophia."
I quickly, snatch Miranda out from Lucas and tightened my grip on her throat, causing her to gasp for air. "Don't push me, Amanda. You don't want to see what I'm capable of."
Amanda smirked, "Oh, I think I know exactly what you're capable of, Derick. You're the Alpha who fell in love with a rejected wolf, and now you're about to risk everything for her. How sweet." She kept gesturing her gun towards Sophia, "But unfortunately for you, I hold all the cards. Surrender Miranda, and I'll let you and Sophia go free."
I hesitated for a moment, considering my options. Could I trust Amanda to keep her word? Or was this all a trap? I looked at Sophia, who was staring at me with fear and desperation in her eyes. I couldn't let her die, but also, I don't want to release Miranda, I want to kill her myself.
Suddenly, there was a loud crash from outside, followed by the sound of gunfire. Amanda's eyes widened in surprise, and she turned towards the door, lowering her gun for a moment.
