I woke up with a start, my eyes adjusting to the dimly lit room. Derick was standing by the door, his back turned to me as he spoke on the phone. I strained to listen, but couldn't make out who he was speaking to. My mind was racing with thoughts of how to uncover the truth behind the attack on my parents by the Black Bird Wolves pack.
As Derick left the room, I knew I had to do something. I couldn't sit around and wait for answers to come to me. I needed to find them myself. Remembering the CCTV footage we had watched earlier, I decided to head to the woods to see if I could pick up any clues.
I got up slowly from Derick's bed, trying to avoid making any noise. I walked towards the window, checking the height from the ground. Derick finished his phone call and left the room without looking back. I took this opportunity to open his window and transform into a wolf. I jumped out of the window and ran towards the woods, my senses heightened as I started sniffing around.
But my search was cut short when I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my side. I fell to the ground, bleeding from where an arrow had struck me. I turned back into my human form and tried to crawl away, but I blacked out.
When I regained consciousness, I was chained up in a dark room, unable to turn back into a wolf. I started shouting, demanding to know where I was. My heart was pounding with fear as I heard footsteps approaching. The door creaked open, and a voice spoke.
"Hello, Sophia."
I recognized the voice immediately. But I don't want to believe it was her, and the room was too dark for me to recognize the person. Suddenly the light was switch on, and I saw Amanda, my stepsister's mother. She had a sinister smile on her face, and my heart sank.
"Amanda! What do you want from me?" I asked, my voice shaking.
Amanda chuckled. "Oh, Sophia. You always were the smart one. You figured out too much, and now you're going to pay for it."
I was confused and scared. What had I uncovered that was so dangerous? Amanda's smile faded as she got serious.
"You and your family have been a thorn in my side for too long. It's time for you to disappear."
I was shocked. "What are you talking about? Aren't we family? You're my father's first wife Amanda."
Amanda's eyes flashed with anger. "That's what everyone believe, but before I married your father, he killed my husband in a pack fight years ago. And forced me to marry him even while I was carrying Leah's pregnancy. Have been waiting for revenge, and now it's finally here."
I was speechless. I have never heard about this before, and I had no idea Amanda was once married. And now, she was going to kill me because of my father's sin?
"Are you saying, Leah and I, are not sisters and you're behind my parents death?"
"Ooh, you're so smart Sophia."
I was so pissed and I struggled against my chains, determined to escape and bring Amanda to justice for her crimes.
Amanda turn to me and said, she might change her mind in getting rid of me and use me to get something important to her, if I will be useful in that aspect. I asked her what she meant, but Amanda just smiled and left the room.
~Derick POV~
As I stood with my pack outside, keeping a watchful eye for any signs of the Black Bird Wolves Pack, my phone suddenly rang. I answered, only to hear a woman's voice on the other end. "Hello Derick," she said, and I immediately knew this was trouble.
"Who is this?" I demanded.
"I don't think that's important," she replied cryptically. "What I want is something you have."
I asked what she was talking about, and she mentioned Miranda. My eyes flickered over to where Miranda was sitting, and she gave me a sly grin. The woman on the phone explained that she had captured a Wolf, and that she wanted Miranda in exchange for the Wolf's life.
"Why should I give you Miranda?" I snapped.
"Because she's useless to you," the woman replied. "But she might be useful to me. And besides, I think you'll want what I'm offering."
Before I could ask what that was, the woman hung up. I was furious, and I turned to face Miranda. Without thinking, I slapped her across the face and demanded to know who the Black Bird Wolves Pack had captured. Lucas, one of my followers, rushed over and tried to calm me down.
But then my phone beeped, indicating a message. I opened it, and my heart sank at what I saw. Sophia was chained up and bleeding, and she had been captured by the Black Bird Wolves Pack. I raced up to my bedroom, where she had been lying earlier, but she was nowhere to be found.
Lucas followed me, and we discussed what to do. He suggested that we kill Miranda and let the Black Bird Wolves Pack have Sophia, since she is an enemy. But I couldn't let that happen. I told Derick, that Sophia was not our enemy.
"But we couldn't risk our pack's integrity just to rescue a rejected wolf!" Derick said.
I silenced Lucas and reminded him that I was still his Alpha. My pack kneeled before me in acknowledgement, and I declared that we would use Miranda to lead us to the Black Bird Wolves Pack's hideout, but we wouldn't hand her over. Instead, we would take the fight to them and kill Miranda.
After few minutes, I started pacing around, my mind racing with thoughts of how to rescue Sophia from the clutches of the black bird wolves pack, Lucas approached me with a determined look on his face.
"Alpha, we need to talk," he demanded.
I turned to face him, curious about what was on his mind.
"Why are you so concerned about Sophia?" Lucas asked. "You know it's against pack rules for an Alpha to have feelings for a rejected, banished wolf."
I stared at him, feeling a twinge of annoyance. "Lucas, my decision won't change. We are rescuing Sophia, and that's final. Get prepared with the others."
Lucas hesitated for a moment before nodding and heading towards where Miranda was sitting.
"Lucas," Miranda called his name, before he walked pass her and he stopped.
"What did you want?" Lucas asked with frown face expression.
"Nothing, just curious to know why you're loyal to an Alpha who doesn't value your opinion," Miranda said. And Lucas was staring at her, "he knows none of you is a match for black bird wolves pack, not even him who is your Alpha. But he chooses to lead you people to your death. Who knows I might consider not killing you, if you side with me."
I watched as they spoke, unable to hear their conversation. But I could see the way Miranda was looking at Lucas, and it made my skin crawl.
Suddenly, I shouted Lucas's name, snapping him out of his conversation with Miranda. I told him to do what I had asked him and get ready to rescue Sophia.
Lucas nodded and shot Miranda a look of pure contempt before walking away.
I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Lucas was one of my most loyal followers, and if he was starting to doubt my leadership, then what hope did we have against the black bird wolves pack?
I shook my head, trying to banish the negative thoughts. We had a mission to accomplish, and we couldn't let anything stand in our way.
As I looked around at my followers, I could see the determination in their eyes. We may not be a match for the black bird wolves pack, but we had something they didn't have: the strength of our pack and our unbreakable bond.
