The Rejected Mate Chapter 8

~Derick Mondragon Pov~

I felt my anger boiling up as Mia started to yell at me, accusing me of not taking action against Alpha Blake. "Mia, calm down," I said, trying to keep my voice level.

But she continued to shout, and I felt a surge of frustration. "Why did you let him go? He came here to attack us, and you just let him leave! We had the chance to get rid of him!"

I felt my control slipping as she continued to yell at me. "Stop yelling at me, Mia! I'm still the Alpha here, and I deserve some respect!"

Mia stopped yelling and looked at me, her eyes wide with surprise. "I'm sorry," she said, her voice softening. "I just...I don't understand why you didn't fight him. We can't let the Night Walkers get away with this."

"I know, and I won't let them get away with it," I said, my voice firm. "But we need to be smart about it. We can't just go charging in without a plan. We need to gather information and find out what their next move is."

Mia nodded, her expression serious. "You're right. We need to be strategic about this. But what about Sophia? I think, it's time you sack her."

"I have a plan," I said to Mia, my voice low and determined. "I'm going to use Sophia as bait, but not in the way you think."

Mia looked at me skeptically. "What do you mean?"

"Blake rejected Sophia as his mate, right?" I said. "But he chose her stepsister instead."

Mia nodded. "Yeah, that's what we heard."

"Well, I'm going to use Sophia to get to her stepsister," I said. "I'll make it seem like I'm interested in Sophia, and then I'll get close to her stepsister. Once I have her trust, I'll use her to get to Blake."

Mia's eyes widened as she understood my plan. "That's risky," she said. "What if Sophia finds out?"

"I'll make sure she doesn't," I said. "And even if she does, it's worth the risk. We need to get rid of Blake and his rouge, once and for all."

Mia nodded slowly, her expression serious. "Okay, I trust you. But we need to be careful. We don't want to put any of our pack members in danger."

"I know," I said, nodding in agreement. "That's why we need to be strategic and plan everything carefully."

As soon as Mia stormed out of my office, Sophia let out a deep breath, relieved that the tense conversation was over. But I am not sure, maybe she heard what we discussed.

Her relief was short-lived as she saw Mia standing at the entrance of the office door, a scowl on her face. Sophia couldn't help but wonder how much of her conversation with me Mia had overheard.

Before Sophia could say anything, Mia grabbed her wrists tightly, causing her to wince in pain. "Rejected mate," Mia spat, her eyes blazing with anger. "You and your pack will pay for what you've done to us."

Sophia tried to free her wrists, but Mia's grip was too strong. She could feel the eyes of the other employees on her, and their expressions were not friendly. It was clear that they were on Mia's side.

"Let go of me," Sophia said through gritted teeth, trying to control her anger.

Mia finally released her, shoving her away roughly. Sophia stumbled, barely managing to keep her balance. Mia then strode over to her desk and sat down, ignoring the curious glances of the other employees.

Sophia knew that she couldn't let Mia's words and actions get to her. She took a deep breath and tried to focus on her work, but the hostility in the air was palpable.

As the day wore on, Sophia couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered in the office. She knew that she needed to watch her back, as Mia had threatened. But she also knew that she couldn't let Mia's anger and bitterness control her own emotions.

Sophia turned and wanted to exist from the company, when Jessica shouted, "come back here, and mob the floor. Rejected Mate!"

Sophia turned to face Jessica, her eyes narrowing with anger. "What did you say?" Sophia asked through gritted teeth.

"I said you need to mob the whole company again before leaving," Jessica repeated, a smirk on her face. "Come on, rejected mate, show us what you're made of."

Sophia's hands clenched into fists, and she felt a surge of anger and frustration rise within her. She wanted to lash out at Jessica and the others, but she knew that it wouldn't solve anything. She couldn't let Mia's bitterness and the hostility of the other employees control her own actions.

Taking a deep breath, Sophia turned around and headed back to where bucket and mobbing stick's are. She knew that she had to rise above the pettiness of her colleagues and show them that she was a professional.

As she worked, Sophia couldn't shake the feeling of anger and frustration that lingered within her. But she knew that she couldn't let it control her. She focused on her work, determined to do the best job that she could.

Finally, the workday ended, and Sophia packed up her things and headed outside the company. With a heavy heart, Sophia left the office, knowing that tomorrow would be another day filled with tension and hostility. But she also knew that she couldn't give up.

Sophia took a deep breath and reminded herself that she was stronger than the words and actions of others. She would not let Mia's anger and bitterness control her own emotions. She would rise above it all and continue to do her job to the best of her ability.

I was feeling pretty good about myself as I drove away from the office. It had been a productive day, even when Blake, wanted to ruined it. But I felt happy about how Sophia was treated today at the company.

I saw Sophia walking on the side of the road, looking tired and worn out. I couldn't help but wonder why she wasn't taking a cab. It was a long walk to her house, and she looked like she could use a ride. I pulled over and rolled down my car window.

"Hey, rejected mate," I called out to her. "Why don't you take a cab? Or are cabs also avoiding someone that's been rejected?" I laughed, feeling pleased with my witty comment.

Sophia looked up at me, and I could see the sadness in her eyes. My laughter didn't died down as I realized that my comment really hurt her.

But before I could say anything else, I quickly rolled up my window and zoomed off in my car. I could see Sophia looking dejected and alone through my rearview mirror.

As I drove away, I did not felt a pang of guilt or shame. I knew that I have hurt Sophia with my words, and I don't give a fuck about that.
