The Rejected Mate Chapter 9

~ Sophia Pov~

I walked towards my room, feeling a sense of relief wash over me as I finally made it home after a long day at work, and the humiliation from Derick. But as I approached my door, I saw Leah standing in front of me, looking absolutely furious. Her werewolf fang fingers were popping out, and I could tell that she was on the brink of losing control.

"Leah, what's going on?" I asked cautiously, not wanting to provoke her further.

"I heard that you met with my husband, Alpha Blake," Leah said through gritted teeth.

I was taken aback. How did Leah know I met with Blake, but it wasn't intentional. I don't even know why Blake show up at the first place, and there was nothing romantic or inappropriate about our meeting.

"I did meet with Blake, but it was nothing like that," I said, trying to keep my tone even. "You need to control yourself, Leah. There are humans living in this condo too, and we can't just go around scaring them."

Leah snarled at me, her eyes flashing with anger. "Why can't you just accept rejection and stay away from my husband? He chose me, not you."

I felt a surge of irritation. "I don't need Blake in my life, Leah. I've moved on. And you need to deal with your own insecurities without taking them out on me."

Leah stepped closer to me, her fangs bared. "Maybe you should stay away from him because you can't handle the fact that he chose me."

I rolled my eyes. "That's not it at all. But maybe you should tell Blake the truth about why you can't transform into a wolf yet. Guess that's payment for betrayals!"

Leah froze, her expression changing from anger to confusion. "What are you talking about?"

I smirked. "Oh, you haven't tell him yet? Guess I forget so quickly that you love to deceive people."

Leah's eyes widened in shock. "Don't tell me, you told him about my secret?"

"I am not like you, but it's something you should talk to him about."

I turned to walk into my room, leaving Leah standing there in her furious mood. I knew I had won this round, but I also knew that Leah was not one to back down easily. This was far from over.

l undress myself and put on my pyjamas, trying to make something for myself to eat when I heard a knock on my door. At first I thought it was Leah and I went to open the door.

Nobody was at my door, except a black banquet of rose flowers.

As I stared down at the black banquet of roses, my heart pounding in my chest, I knew that this was no ordinary gift. Something about it felt ominous, foreboding, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched.

Trembling, I reached down and picked up the bouquet, turning it over in my hands as I tried to figure out what was going on. Who had left this on my doorstep? And why?

As I examined the bouquet, I noticed a small black envelope tucked into the folds of the flowers. It was stamped with the emblem of a bird, and as I opened it up and began to read the message inside, my fears were confirmed.

The letter was from the Black Bird Wolves, a notorious group of rogues who hunted down any werewolf who had been banished from their packs. They were known for their viciousness and their ruthless tactics, and the mere mention of their name was enough to strike fear into the hearts of even the bravest wolves.

As I read the message, my blood turned to ice. The Black Bird Wolves were coming for me, and I had no idea why. Had I done something to offend them? Had I crossed some invisible line that I didn't even know existed? Or maybe they have heard that I was banished from my pack.

I dropped the bouquet from my hands, feeling a sense of panic rising within me. What was I going to do? How could I protect myself from these deadly hunters?

For a moment, I stood there, frozen, staring down at the black roses and the ominous letter. And then, with a sudden burst of determination, I made up my mind.

I would not let the Black Bird Wolves win. I would not let them take me down without a fight.

But on a second thoughts, my mind was racing, trying to make sense of what was happening. Could this really be from the Black Bird Wolves, the notorious rogue group that hunted down banished werewolves?

I knew that if I wanted to stand any chance against them, I would need help. But I didn't belong to any pack at the moment, and I wasn't sure who I could turn to for support. Mia had warned me to watch my back, but could this all be her doing? The seal on the envelope looked real, though, and I couldn't shake the feeling of dread that was creeping up on me.

Just as I was about to retreat further into my thoughts, I heard a knock on the door. My first instinct was to hide, but then I heard a voice that I recognized. "It's me, Miranda, open the door!" she called out.

I hesitated for a moment, unsure if I should let her in, but then I decided to take the risk. I quickly opened the door and let her in.

"Wow, these are beautiful," she said, admiring the flowers. "Are they for you?"

I quickly snatched the bouquet away from her, my nerves still on edge. "Don't touch them," I warned her. "I don't know where they came from or what's going on."

Miranda looked at me with concern. "Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost."

I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down. "I don't know," I said slowly. "I just received a letter from the Black Bird Wolves. They're the group that hunts down banished werewolves. I don't know what they want with me."

Miranda's eyes widened in shock. "That's not good. You need to tell the authorities because they might be after you, since you're banished from your pack."

I nodded, knowing that was the logical thing to do. But a part of me was still afraid, unsure of what was going to happen next. All I knew was that my life had just taken a dangerous turn, and I was going to need all the help I could get to survive it.
