WEIRD FEELING Chapter 28

I went over to the chair and table near the bedside as I took my seat, trying to comprehend everything that happened. I was not angry but felt a great glint of disappointment since my dad said earlier that I won't be having a roommate. I wonder how I would manage to live with Christopher, my new roommate for a whole 6 years without getting attracted to him. I am so in trouble', I thought

I turned abruptly as I glanced at the person in the room, as he kept arranging his clothes in the second part of the wardrobe. Tall with a muscular body, a nice haircut, and a good look, his rosy cheeks, and pink lips contributed to his handsomeness. I breathe in and out trying to remain calm.

I watched him remove his shirt and his singlet, making him shirtless, as his well-lined abs came into view. I quickly turned my eyes away staring blankly at the table, trying as much as possible in stopping my eyes from looking at the mirror in front of me.

I heard him chuckle, as my face flushed in embarrassment. He must probably be thinking I am weird', I assumed. It is much better to avoid staring at his muscular chest or my imagination realm might go wide.

I grabbed my pen ready to write something in my diary, but my whole mind was blank. Great heavens, Chris is getting in my head', I reckoned. Within a split second, I felt contact with my body as I stared at the mirror which disclosed who the person was.

My heart beat fast as I realized Christopher resting on my right shoulder, his lips close to my ear, that my heart raced again. I gripped harder on my pen, my throat dry, as my lips made a pause session.

"Hey, what are you writing?" his husky voice rang through my ear, sending electric sparks down my body.

I closed my eyes tightly, trying not to get affected by his cocky nature.

"Can you please not talk to me? You are distracting me", I voiced out, trying not to be rude, as I opened my eyes slowly trying to control my breathing pace.

He raised his head from my shoulder and stood in front of me, resting on the wall beside the hanging mirror.

" I do not think that would be possible. I have not made a friend for quite a long time now. I would surely make sure we are more than roommates", he declared and winked at me before entering the bathroom.

I facepalmed myself realizing the kind of person he was and the 'I WON'T GIVE UP' attitude of his.

I did not waste time walking out of the apartment knowing fully well of the consequences if he comes out of the bathroom shirtless. I might not be able to take a grip of myself, I might give in to my thoughts easily. The thought alone gives me creeps. I am not going to call my dad, he sure has a lot of explaining to do.

I was walking towards the balcony when I suddenly jumped into someone sending the books in her hand flying.

"Oh! I am deeply sorry", I quickly apologized as I bend down to pick the books. She bent down to pick some too as I returned the ones I picked.

" I am sorry again, I was not looking in the way", I muttered as my eyes met with the girl in front of me, who is around my age range.

"It is okay. I should have been more careful", she said and I chuckled.

" My name is Joy, a chemistry student in UNILAG", she started, stretching her hand forward for a handshake, which I accepted, placing my palm in hers.

"My name is Michael, Pharmacy as a course", I stated.

" Wow, nice name and wide course", she said and I smiled.

"Thanks. A wide course indeed", I replied

" I guess we will still meet in some lectures, maybe a joint class or something. Maybe under Pharmaceutical Chemistry", she explained

"It seems you went over the University Scheme of work", I said

" Sure, I like to keep updated. Chemistry has been my best subject since my Senior Secondary School. Pharmacy is a vast course, spending 5-6 years in the university. Thumps up for the future Pharmacist" Joy remarked as I laughed at her free nature which reminded me of Rachael, my best friend who I still keep contact with via Whatsapp and phone call.

"Yeah. According to most Nigerian universities setting, it is 5 years plus one year of Internship before rounding it up with NYSC(NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORP)", I explained.

" OH!All the best. I got to jet, and by the way, I live in the 5th apartment by the left", Joy said and I smiled.

"I live in the first apartment by the left" I replied and we said our byes to each other.

I moved to the balcony, which paved the way to the views of the big city of Lagos. With my arm resting on the railing, I scanned through the city which was buses with cars especially those moving at a good speed.

I briefly went over my Whatsapp messages as I informed Joshua, Rachael, and Gloria of my arrival in the hostel. My friends are currently in different institutions studying their courses. Joshua in OOU(Olabisi Onabanjo University) studying Physics, Rachael in OAU(OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY), studying Mathematics, and Gloria in TASUED studying English. How I wish we were in the same university, our best friend tag would have blossomed, no doubt about that.

I walked inside my room after spending over 30 minutes outside observing the beautiful city of Lagos, which happens to be one of the busiest cities in Nigeria. Making my way into the bedroom, I was welcomed by a nice aroma. My gaze landed on Christopher who was putting on an apron, with a tray of the plate filled with spaghetti and egg. He is sure good at cooking and notably fast", I could not help but compliment, as I moved to my favorite spot.

He moved to the bedside before moving to my front as he dropped the tray of food on the table with a little paper on the tray. I glanced at it and saw 'Bon appetite' written on the paper. A smile crept to my mouth, which I changed into a frown immediately, as I won't want him to know I'm interested in his food.

"Eat up, it is much better eaten while hot", Christopher stated resting on the wall close to the mirror. I did not say anything as well as react even though the aroma kept piercing through my nostrils, making my throat itch for it.

I felt a warm hand under my chin, lifting it a little as his eyes met with mine, sending shivers down my body.

" Why are you behaving weirdly around me?" he asked, our eyes gazing at each other intently.

I smacked his hand off, trying to control my emotions, which gave way, or almost.

"I am afraid that…...
