WEIRD FEELING Chapter 27

I hugged my mum as if my life depended on it, I will miss her a lot. I have gained admission and today being January 11, which happened to be a Sunday, my dad and I are making a trip to UNILAG(UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS STATE). UNILAG, which happens to be my dream school, has finally accepted I, Oyedele Michael, into the Pharmaceutical Department.

My mum continued to pray for me as I was ready to take my leave for the city of Lagos.

"Michael, remember the child of whom you are. Please do not join any bad gang. Always remember to pray to God about everything in your life. He is your creator, always put that in mind. Please study hard", my mum counseled as I nodded, taking in her words.

Putting my travel bags in the trunk of the car, I hugged my mum and younger brother before entering the passenger's seat. I kept looking back as my dad's car was moving out of the compound. I wish I could stay a little bit with my mum and my younger brother. I guess it is my journey to face alone.

The journey to Lagos from Ogun State was not an easy one, but quite tough. My dad's car kept falling into potholes on our way, the traffic was not a good one either. I felt tired and looking at my dad, he would be more tired. Most of the roads we passed through are not well tiled, enhancing difficulty in controlling the car to avoid any form of accident. That only reminded me of how my life at the university will be. A journey I will have to battle between good and bad, sexual cravings and urges, and probably a lot more.

A smile crept to my face when I remembered my dad agreeing to me owning an apartment of self-containment to myself. It can only mean one thing, no ROOMMATE, just me and my apartment, living alone. At least that will save me from getting attracted to my roommate.

One of my problems is solved. As for the other boys, I plan on avoiding them as much as possible. This might sound cheesy but the fact that I developed an attraction to different boys this past few years has brought nothing but a sleepless night for me, along with fantasy in my imagination realm. If I have been finding it difficult to control this sixth attraction I had for Ethan, I wonder how those who are attracted to me would take it. It would be so new to them.

After driving for almost two hours, we finally got to the building where my self-contained apartment was rented. I learned it was 100,000 naira (246$)for a year and I could not help but try to imagine how many years it will take for me to save up to that amount, maybe a year and eight months, lol.

I packed some of my belongings to my apartment which was the first room upstairs by the right. I entered my new room all stressed up due to the little journey from Ogun state. The room was painted blue with different interior decorations on the wall. The bed was big with a light blue bedsheet and duvet which only makes me imagine how I will spend every night alone on this bed.

I went to check out other rooms which were the bathroom and the toilet. While the kitchen was not large, it contained some shelves, a sink, and some kitchen utensils. I moved to the toilet and bathroom and the nice smell of a nice fragrance welcomed me. I put on the shower which was running quite well. My joy knew no bounds as I went to say a big thank you to my dad.

'Um, Micheal. I need to go somewhere. I would be back in a jiffy", my dad said and I nodded as he went out. I locked the door and rushed to get my towel. I put on the slow music of the flashlight by Jessie placing it with loudspeakers I went to the bath under the shower. The water from the shower gushed down, making my whole body calm.

My voice kept sounding as I sang flashlight swaying slowly to the beat. I finished bathing and put on an orange round neck with a black short which was a little bit below my knee. I started arranging my things in different places. I put my clothes in the wardrobe that was in my apartment. I brought some books which I placed on the table a few meters away from the bedside.

I brought my diary as I read through it which brought some of my secondary school memories back on. I breathe in and out as I slowly wrote down what happened throughout my journey to Lagos. I smiled when I remembered the last time I came to Lagos which was close to 8 years ago. We visited one of our uncles in Ikoyi, a remote part of Lagos, and it was fun.

I stood up looking at the mirror in front of me. I picked up a small comb to stroke my eyebrows into curls. I hear the sound of keys dangling, which I ignored. Maybe someone is opening the door in the next room", I thought.

My mouth opened wide as my eyes noticed the door opening, as a reflection came in the mirror. I kept looking at the figure and the footsteps drew closer. I turned around only to see a teenage boy my age dropping his suitcase on the bed, my bed! He was putting on an off-white, black trouser and a black face cap to match. The door was locked before, which means he was the one using the keys to open the door earlier.

He finally looked up as he glanced at me, his face a little bit covered. I looked at him closely taking into notice his calm features and quite tall and muscular body. We continued to stare at each other for a while, as frustration grew in me on how confident he was to enter my room.

" Who are you? I asked, glaring at him.

He flashed me a smile that left me speechless.

"Hi, my name is Christopher. Nice to meet you", he said as he moved closer stretching his right hand forward for a handshake.

I shook my head gently praying this was just a dream. He dropped his hand keeping it in his pocket as he stood straight. He walked forward to the other side of the bed settling down as he removed his face cap which revealed a nice haircut. I walked to his front, getting more irritated at his confidence.

" Why are you in my room?", I demanded.

He stood up and moved closer to my side, his eyes meeting mine.

"I am your roommate. Nice to meet ya", he said, a cute smile plastered on his face. My heart skipped. Oh no! This is bad.
