One is just as odd as she is and for that simple reason they fit and the other she hopes will be her twin sister once they get to know each other again, call it childish but she had always loved the notion of twins sticking together through thick and thin.
She walked on and now she's getting closer to the house. She hopes her twin sister will take her in.
She looked at the piece of paper in her hands and confirmed the address on the huge gate before pressing the button near the gate. In less than a minute a scary-looking gate man checked and opened the gate.
She smiled at him parts anxious and nervous. The man asked her to come in then he said.
"Shall I send for your car to convey you, miss Guero?"
For a moment she thought he knew her and was expecting her. Then she remembered she has a twin, an identical one at that.
"No need. I'll walk. Thank you."
She said, deciding there was no reason to announce her identity yet.
He looked surprised but didn't say anything.
It would have been around a three-minute drive from the gate to the main house but she wanted to walk to get bearings. Then she muttered, " Why did I ever think coming as a surprise was a good idea?"
*********
"Do you realize what you have done?"
Alex Guero asked his daughter praying desperately that his child whom he had raised and nurtured didn't betray him.
"It wasn't meant to be like this, I was tricked."
She said quietly.
"What did they offer you?"
"They were going to make me second in charge of their gang?"
"And is that more than you have here Elvira?!"
He roared.
"I wasn't going to settle for that, I have access to the people who serve the gang leader's food a few well-placed people and I'd be the leader of the gang."
"You were going to kill him?"
"I couldn't kill you father. And I am meant for more than just a second. Not to Steven and not to you, father. "
"You are no longer my daughter, it should have been you I sent away instead of that imbecile."
Catherine stood outside frozen.
She could barely believe what she had just overheard.
Was that her twin, killing for power?
Her father called her an imbecile cause of asthma?
The tears rolled down her face as she turned around and began to walk away confused, angry, and hurt.
She went outside of the mansion walked around until she saw a garden. Illuminated by lights. The image was sure would have found it wonderful to be in a garden at night. The garden where -if the stories were right- her mother was buried.
As she searched for the grave she pulled out her phone to call her only friend, after three rings Sarah's voice came through the speaker.
"Hey bish, how's the reunion going?"
"You know what they say about people who eavesdrop?"
"They go to hell?"
Sarah asked.
"No, they never hear good about themselves."
"Good thing you haven't been eavesdropping on any conversation on your first day back with your father and sister, right?"
"Yeah, a good thing. You know me, always minding my business. Unless of course, it happens to be when I was about to knock on the door but then stopped to take deep breaths and started hearing things that I couldn't stop."
Her voice cracked on the last word.
"What did you hear? Was it your sister? Just know even though I don't know her you're the awesome twin. She's crap."
"No, it wasn't my sister."
"Then I take it back. She's awesome and you're crap."
"Gee thanks."
I said but couldn't help but smile at the familiar word.
"You are always welcome. Now tell me what happened, I have my popcorn ready."
"Glad I'm a source of entertainment for you."
"Okay, I'll put away the popcorn, now spill the beans."
"Sarah Douglas Maclean, you are crazy."
"My middle name isn't Douglas. I don't even have a middle name. Now tell me why you are calling at 1 am."
Comforted by the familiar banter, she started to speak and didn't stop till she was done.
"I love you. You know that right?"
Sarah said.
"Why the hell are you telling me this now?"
"Because you know when I do things I do it fiercely. So I can love you hard enough for a small country. And I do. You don't need their love when you have me. But it's fine to feel bad though. You can cry all night but never let it affect your smile during the day. They are crap end of the story."
"I thought I was the crap."
"Stop bringing up the past and just tell me you love me too."
"I love you too bitch. Thank you."
"Don't mention it now go shed some tears."
Sarah said and hung up.
Catherine laid on a bench and then did as Sarah told her to. She cried out her eyes and fell asleep there.

Smallville was a big city popular for its gangs but not its werewolf packs disguised as gangs.
For centuries they have co-existed peacefully among the humans and apart from the few humans whom they occasionally mate with no one knew of their existence.
Maybe that is why he hadn't found his mate yet, Aiden reflected.
He didn't interact much with humans.
He rubbed dragged a tanned hand across his face and sighed.
"Alpha."
Aiden heard someone call out from outside his spacious room.
"Enter."
He said and moved away from his position at the window to sit on a nearby chair.
"The autopsy result of the two dead men has come in they were poisoned."
Aiden's nostrils flared.
"If that is all, you may go."
"There was a patch of cloth stuck on one of the branches in the area. It belongs to Guero."
"Is it possible that this is a mere coincidence?"
"It is not a coincidence Alpha, forensics confirmed it."
"You may go. Tell my Beta to gather 10 of his soldiers, we are going to visit Guero."
The messenger bowed and left.
