When Mafia's Mate Chapter 3

Two blacked-out SUVs drive out of the estate gates leaving behind the werewolf territory. Aiden was seated in the backseat with his beta Damien, he held a tablet in his hand showing him the blueprints of the Guero’s house and the whole territory, in case they needed back up and have to infiltrate.

Though he didn’t think Alex Guero would open fire at him, he was a smart man, though not very smart since he seemed to think killing his men for no reason would be a good idea.

When they got to the intersection that marked where the Guero’s territory starts, they all parked the cars by the side of the road, two out of the ten men searched the area and when they were sure it was safe they all got down from the car, the soldiers stood at attention waiting for their Alpha to address them.

They went by the plan again, no one fires unless the other side starts, since Guero didn’t send a black hand, they couldn’t start a war. A simple execution, a bullet in Guero’s head, no unnecessary bloodshed.

Though not many modern families in the gang go by the tradition of sending out a black hand, the rules are killing or be killed and if they kill one man on their side, they kill two of theirs, and they don’t stop until one side surrenders or everyone is killed. Plain, simple and bloody, very bloody.

He turned to the men awaiting his final order after his beta finished explaining. “Okay listen, we’re not starting a war, we just go in, I will execute Guero and we go out, simple. I don’t plan on shedding blood today, okay?” they answered in the affirmative and he nodded once before they all went back to their cars and they continued the journey.

They had a little hassle at the border gates, the security had refused to let them in saying the boss hadn't talked about expecting a visit from them, Aiden had to remind the soldier with him that they were going to be civilized and he asked the man to call up Guero.

He looked like he wanted to argue but decided against it and turned his head back to the small building at the gate to make the call. Even though he was human, Aiden’s alpha dominance works all the same.

He returned a few moments later and without a word, the gates were opened and they drove up the ridiculously long driveway in his equally ridiculously large house.

Alex Guero paced the length of his office wondering where the hell Elvira went, she was nowhere to be found and he knew damn well what Aiden was heading there for. He had all the available, gathered, and ready to open fire, it had surprised him when he had called to let him know he was coming, he knew the man wasn’t patient, his style would’ve been to open fire right from the gate so they know the hell that awaits them.

Another part of him said it was because he wanted him to anticipate his death, the thought about the terror that awaits him, the fear of death is worse than death itself.

He heard pounding footsteps pass by his door and he walked out to see the last of his men with heavy arms running down the stairs in preparation. He walked to the opposite side from the stairs, walked into the room next to his office, and went straight to the widow of the abandoned living room. He saw the three SUVs that he’d been informed they came with coming up the drive, not up to fifteen men climbed out.

He wasn’t going to be deceived, Aiden would in no way come empty-handed and even though each of the men had only one gun in hand, he could bet his whole fortune they each had nothing less than at least three weapons on them each.

He heard footsteps from behind and turned, Catherine stood at the door, a look he couldn’t quite place in her eyes. He watched the daughter he knew he failed, her face that looked just like his Elvira’s, she may not believe but he loves her and he would do anything for her but first, they had to get out of this mess, else he won’t live long enough to ask for her forgiveness.

Before he could control himself, the words were already out of his mouth and the pained look that crossed her features is something that would haunt him forever. He could live with that, at least she would be alive.

“Pretend to be Elvira, don’t argue please we’ll talk about this later,” if they got to see later, he thought, though he didn’t voice that.

Catherine stared at her father in shock, unable to believe what he just asked, more like commanded ignoring the part of her that wanted to accept, the little girl in her that has always wanted her father’s approval.

She turned him down with one word, ‘No’ and then turn to leave, fighting the urge to flip her hair in his face.

That's unacceptable by her, how could he even think about asking her to be Elvira after all the things he did to her and he even did call her an imbecile hours ago.

Before she came there, she wasn’t sure she hated the man thinking he had a good reason for sending her away like that but now that she's here, right at this second, she knows that she hated him.

"I hate him with all I have realizing he had no valid reason to send me away, to treat me like fucking dirt because of a situation that’s out of my control."

I didn't make myself asthmatic so why should I be cast out like an outcast and Elvira the good one whom I should pretend to be like?

Why can't she come out to prove herself, why should I be the one impersonating her and not her showing herself? She must have run out knowing what she did"
