“What is happening here?” Robert yelled when he found out that Sophia was rushed to the hospital. His face was red, and worry flashed into his face. He was gasping for breath because of anxiety. He was the one who brought Sophia back to their country even though Sophia told him that she was afraid to be back.
Sophia informed him about what his mistress did to her when she was a child. And he promised that he would do anything to protect his daughter.
“Robert!” Erin's mother almost trembled when she saw Robert giving her a nasty look. She swallowed when Robert walked closer to her, and he was gnashing his teeth in so much anger.
Robert clenched his fist. “What did you do to my daughter? I can't believe that you genuinely had plans to kill her! I trusted you, Amelia!”
“I-I didn't do anything. We found her unconscious on the floor; maybe she had fainted. I didn't know she was sick because I was too focused on Erin.” Amelia reasoned out. She felt that she couldn't breathe properly as she held her chest.
“Amelia! How could you do this to my daughter? Did you think that I'm stupid to believe that you unintentionally did this to her? You fucking bitch!” Robert's hands trembled, and slapped Amelia on her face. Amelia fell on the floor while their men were watching them.
Amelia touched her cheek when she felt it stung. “I didn't do anything. Robert, please hear me out! I didn't even plan to harm your daughter.”
“All I wanted was to be with Sophia after I cheated on her mother. I thought you would be a good mother to her because I know you. You might be a bit vicious, but I know you still have love in your heart!”
“Amelia, you disappointed me! My daughter is in this hospital, and she is dying because of you! Someone sent me the letter that you wanted her to die, but I tried not to believe it because I know you aren't like that!”
“I can't believe this! You're a murderer!” Robert exclaimed. He massaged his temple before he went to the emergency room. He watched how the doctor tried to save Sophia by pumping her chest.
Robert cried when the doctor stopped pumping Sophia and the nurses started checking her vital signs. The doctor went to him and smiled at him.
“She is still alive, but we needed to observe her. I want to ask if you know she's allergic to a peanut?” The doctor asked; Robert nodded because he knew about it. After all, Erin and Sophia were allergic to peanuts.
“We ran a laboratory test on her, and we saw that she consummated a lot of peanuts in her body. It looked like someone was trying to kill her slowly. You should protect her because I don't think she will be lucky if this happens again.”
“We will inform you about the results, and you should check her always. I don't think this is unintentional because of the number of peanuts in her body. We will ask a nurse to help you to place her in a room.”
Robert felt his blood boil in anger. He gritted his teeth before he nodded to the doctor. When the doctor left him, he angrily looked at Amelia, who was scared of him because Amelia had heard what the doctor had told Robert.
“I will investigate this, and if I discover that you're sks the maid to put a peanut in my daughter's meal, I'm sorry to tell you this, but I will make sure that you will rot in hell!” Robert screamed out of his lungs before he went to Sophia, who was still unconscious. He started crying because he felt that he was such a useless father.
Robert knew that Amelia had found out that he had assigned Sophia as the successor of their company, and he was sure that Amelia was too mad because of that. But, if he passed the company to Erin, he was confident that his employees would be suffered in Erin's hands.
“Robert, please, I'm telling you the truth. I didn't do anything. I was in the hospital for several days because Erin is in the hospital, too.” Amelia whispered, tears slowly coming out of her eyes, and she gasped to prevent herself from sobbing.
Robert glimpsed at Amelia, and his eyes were sharp. “If it's not you, then who is it? I don't think that my daughter will risk her life to make you blame this. Aside from that, one of our servants told me that the first meal that you made them prepared had peanuts. Sophia wanted Erin to eat with her. That's why Erin is in the hospital. Did you think that I'm foolish?”
“Did you think that you could hide this from me? Did you forget that I'm the one who is paying them? Amelia, you fucking bitch! How dare you do this to my daughter?” Robert added, which made Amelia shake her head. She clasped her hand as she began to sob and kneeled in front of Robert, and a scene flashed in her mind.
She felt that she was in the same scenario, but the difference was that the woman kneeling in front of Robert was his legal wife. All Amelia thought was she needed to talk to Erin. Sophia was too innocent, and she couldn't believe that Robert would react like this because of his daughter.
Amelia slowly realized that Robert was trying to blame her because he was done announcing that the company would be in Sophia's name, and Robert thought that she was enraged by knowing it.
Amelia gnashed her teeth because she was sure Erin had done this to Sophia. All Erin wanted was to get her father's company, and if Sophia were still alive, she wouldn't get the company whatever it took.
Amelia stayed in the hospital as long as Robert was still there. She hoped Erin would be back home so she could interrogate her.
“Robert, let's go home. I will ask the servant to check on her from time to time.” Amelia mumbled, which made Robert feel outraged.
Robert held Sophia's hands. He could see the rashes on her face and hands, making Robert feel his heart aching for his daughter. “You can go home. You stayed with Erin when she was rushed to the hospital, but you can't even do that to my daughter. You wanted me to go home so you could successfully kill her!”
“Robert, please believe me. Okay, I will be back home now. I will ask the servant to give you the needed clothes.” Amelia felt exhausted. Robert always pampered her, and now Robert was trying to fight with her.
However, Amelia understands why Robert is violently reacting. She was Erin's mother, and if something terrible occurred to Erin, she would respond like Robert had been doing to her.
“You won't need to do that; I want to ensure my daughter is safe. You should go now.” Robert angrily mumbled before he turned his back to Amelia and faced Sophia.
Amelia decided to go home because she wanted to talk to Erin. She saw Erin sitting on their expensive couch with red wine in her hands. She was humming as if something good had happened to her, which made Amelia furious.
Because of Erin, she got a slap to Robert and got scolded while Erin was partying herself because of what happened.
Amelia angrily rushed to Erin and slapped her on her face, which made Erin fall to the carpet. Erin was shocked because someone had hit her, and when she checked who it was, she saw her mother give her a murderous stare.
“Erin, how could you do this to me? Did you know your father is too mad because of what you've done?” Amelia grabbed Erin's hair and slapped her once again. Erin winced, screaming for help, but no one could help her.
All the maids could do was watch Amelia hurt her daughter in front of them. Erin was confused about why her mother was too violent with her. She couldn't understand what her mother told her because all she thought was being freed from her grasp.
“Mom! Argh, stop hurting me! I didn't do anything.” Erin tried to push Amelia, but Amelia was too persistent in hurting her. She felt her end was too near, and when Amelia stopped, she thought she was still lucky.
When Amelia calmed down, she sat on the carpet and gave Erin a blank look. Erin's face was red because of the slap, and she could see her palms printed on her face.
“Did you message one of our maids to put always a peanut to Sophia? She received a message from your number, and you even told her I asked you to message her!”
Erin widened her eyes. She trembled because she was sure that she had typed those words, but she was convinced that she didn't send it because she had fallen asleep. Did she unintentionally send the message to one of their trusted maids?
Erin took her phone and scrolled through her messages. She searched the maid's name on her letters, and her eyes widened when she saw that she had sent the news that time.
“Did you send those messages? Answer me, bitch!” Amelia angrily snatched Erin's phone, and she was shocked when she saw that Erin was indeed sending it to the maid. Amelia was furious that she gripped Erin and continued hurting Erin. She made sure that she even punched her face; she stopped when Erin kept pleading with her to stop.
Amelia kicked Erin into too much madness before she left her. All she needed to do was to kill the maid, even though it was a significant loss for her. That maid was too faithful to her, and she was the one who helped her to get rid of Robert's legal wife.
She needed to ensure that Robert wouldn't discover that the woman who sent the messages was Erin. She couldn't believe that she needed to protect her once again.
Amelia thought that her time was too short, especially when Robert assigned someone who would investigate what happened to her daughter. She saw four men talking to the other maids, which made her tremble in fear.
“Madam, Sir Robert told us to investigate everything, so if one of the maids is missing, we will conclude that you killed her or, maybe, send her away from the house.” One of the men announced. Amelia tried to hide her reaction; she nodded as if it was okay.
Sophia was staring at the ceiling when her phone rang. When she woke up, she saw her father was about to leave. Robert talked to her about what happened, so she did her best to sound natural, that she was scared that she might die soon if Amelia did something nasty about her.
Robert asked one of his trusted men to get her things so she wouldn't be bored, and she prohibited Amelia and Erin from visiting her.
Sophia's hands were shaking when she took her phone. She answered the unknown number and listened to what the caller was about to say.
“Sophia, I find out that you're in the hospital. Are you okay? I can't believe that you risk your life to do this stunt. Are you crazy?”
Sophia laughed wholeheartedly. She took a deep breath when she felt her chest aching.
“I didn't understand why an OB-gyne doctor called me. This is not part of your work, Brea.” Sophia tried her best to sound more convincing. She didn't want her friends to get worried about her.
“Bitch, I wish that you were here with me. Do you want to die? Are you suicidal? I didn't tell this to Blossom because she's pregnant, and I know she will be worried sick about you!”
Sophia's heart clenched even more. She forgot that her lovely Blossom was pregnant, and once Blossom discovered what she did. She was sure that Blossom would go to her without even thinking.
“You did the right thing. I don't want her to get stressed because of me. I'm still alive if that's what you wanted to ensure.” Sophia chuckled but winced when she felt her throat which made Brea laugh too.
“I have good news for you! Someone told me that Erin was rushed to the hospital because her mother knocked her out.” Brea informed her, which made Sophia nod. She wanted to celebrate but stopped because she knew that Erin would do anything to get rid of her permanently.
