“Let’s go.” I grabbed her hand and she looked at me with her big eyes in curiosity.
“Go where?” Ivana asked and I smiled. She is a curious girl but one thing I love about this is how well her expression changes when she gets curious, her eyes enlarge and her lips are shot out, I don’t know how she does that but she looks more beautiful.
“Grocery shopping,” I winked at her and led her out of the rooftop and she didn’t stop talking.
“Why grocery shopping all of a sudden?” Ivana asked and I shook my head at her, I don’t blame her for asking that question, this was the first time I have wanted to do this.
“You will know once we get there.” I winked at her and she narrowed her eyes, I was avoiding her question and was sure it annoys her.
Once we were downstairs I could see the other student’s staring at us with jealousy, well they were not staring at Ivana, they were glaring at her, but I knew she was going to be in a lot of trouble later for making me hold her hands.
I smiled when I looked down at Ivana’s face, she was glancing around with that scared expression. “Ivana,” I called out and she looked up at me. “I am here,” I assured her that she blinks like a cute puppy dog. I don’t like puppies after I got bitten by one in the state, but right now I could picture it in Ivana’s face.
“Keep your eyes on me,” I told her again and this time I could see that smile I wished to bring to her face on it and it made my heart leap in joy.
It doesn’t matter if she was going to be in a lot of trouble, I am going to stick close to her and protect her from all those troubles, I won’t let any harm come to her, not even from those mean girls who tend to make her trip at the practice hall.
We both got into my car and I turned to Ivana who was still staring out of the window with now sad eyes. “What is wrong?” I asked her since I was curious to know what she was thinking.
“I knew it before but now I get it so clearly.” She turned her eyes to me and I raised my brows waiting for her to continue. “You are loved by lots of girls in school.”
I was about to chuckle but stopped myself before it came out. Truthfully I wasn’t expecting her to say this but I knew if I laughed she would feel sadder.
“I know I am handsome,” I told her as I leaned close to her to help her fasten her seatbelt. “Girls tend to love handsome guys, but like I said,” I finished fastening her seatbelt and looked at her face as our faces were within kissing distance. “I see only you,” I said the words and the sadness in her eyes vanished and her face turned crimson
I smiled, leaning back to my chair and fastened my seatbelt, I started the car engine but paused when I noticed her eyes on me. “What?” I raised my brows and she shook her head.
“Nothing, you told me to keep my eyes on you, so I am doing that.” Ivana bites down her lips and I grin, touching her cheek, I drive out of school as we head over to the grocery shop.
“So, what are you going to buy?” Ivana asked me.
I wheel the trolley and turned to her. “I want to make a nice meal,” I told her simply and picked up a pack of beef, placing it into the trolley. I looked behind me and saw Ivana staring at me. “Why are you standing there?” I asked her.]
“Why do you want to make a nice meal?” She walked over to me while I picked up more items I will use for the meal.
“I want to challenge you.” I glanced at her before pushing forward, I could tell she was confused as she strolled over to me again.
“Challenge me?” Ivana raised her brows. “Why?”
I left the trolley and leaned close to her face and she leaned back. “When I was sick, you wanted me to cook and you said I was not willing to cooperate since I can’t cook, now I want to show you, I want to prove to you that I am good at that too…” I raised the corner of my lips and she scoffed.
“Boaster.” She rolled her eyes at me and walked forward as she picked up some fruit. “How about buying some fruit?” She lifted some bananas and apples and I shook my head.
“You have no clue.” I pushed the cart leaving her but she still ran over with the fruit, placing it into the cart she looked at me.
“Why? Don’t you like fruits?” She asked.
“Right now we are not shopping for fruits, but I will have to let you pick some since it seems you love them.” I put in some bell peppers and pushed the cart forward and put in some sweet onion.
“I need it to make smoothies,” Ivana said loudly behind my back and off she went to pick more things and I chuckled, she was fired on her own and it was better to avoid it sometimes.
“How about this?” Ivana ran back to me holding some organic carrots and I paused as I looked at her face, she was grinning as she had just won a lottery.
“Put it back, that is a no,” I told her and she ignored me, placing it into the cart so I picked them up and returned it to their place but the time I got back to where I left Ivana and the cart, it was not there and Ivana too was not there.
I looked around and couldn’t see her. 'Where did she go?’ I walked around the grocery shop. “Fuck, Ivana!” I didn’t say it out loud in order not to draw attention but I could tell that she heard me.
Ivana, who had stuffed the cart with carrots, turned to me and stuck out her tongue. “Most of you act like a kid?” I asked her as she was about to run off with the cart but I held her back and she kicked in the air.
“Let me go!” She giggled and I put her into the cart. “I am not a kid.” She glared at me and I scoffed.
“You just acted like one, and a nasty one at that.” I pointed out as I wheeled her and the cart to go put the carrots back.
“Why don’t you like carrots?” Ivana asked me as we both placed them at where they ought to be.
I didn’t glance at her while I responded. “The lady who I am cooking for hates it,” I told her before turning my eyes at her and I could see that look in her eyes and I nodded.
“What you are thinking is correct,” I told her as I put some vegetables in the cart. “I want to make my mother a delicious meal.” I turned my eyes at Ivana again and I watched her lips gradually turn up and a smile broadened on her face.
“Now will you help me pick some more food?” I asked him and she nodded joyfully.
“We better go get some pasta sauce, could it be marinara is better?” Ivana looked at me and shook her head. “Let’s just get more the pasta.” Ivana walked forward but I watched her eyes catch something and she rushes over. “Can I get this too?” She turned to me and pointed at it.
“Pineapple chunks?” I raised my brows as I pushed the cart over to her. “What in the world do you not like?” I asked her and she frowned.
“I don’t like you.” She turned around and walked away and I grinned before picking up the pineapple chunk and followed her with a smile as we both picked a few more foodstuffs.
I knew deep down that she was kidding about not liking me. I looked down at the cart and I couldn’t wait to make the best meal out of these items to thank the mother that gave birth to me.
I couldn’t tell her a happy birthday before she left, but it doesn’t matter now, I was going to love her and spend a whole lot of time with her, she gave birth to me, she was my mother and I would never leave her, neither would I leave this one that is with me.
I looked over at Ivana and I know that I was loved even when I thought I wasn’t, I was still loved by few people and I will stick close to them forever
