Megan's POV
As we waited for everyone to come, Alpha was tapping his fingers furiously on the wood behind his desk. I was able to access and see everyone by sitting in a chair that was tucked up in the far corner. The room was full with well-known faces. They were the most powerful warriors, the people I had supper with the night before. Beta Jackson was having a talk with a fresh face.
A furious man banged the door open and stormed inside. Her face was covered in filth and unmade up, and her golden hair was tangled in bunches. Her eyes skimmed the room rapidly before settling on my body snuggled up on the comfortable chair.
"You are running late."Alpha mumbled in a listless voice.
"You." She yelled at me and pointed. It is all your fault. She approached me in a stalking manner, her eyes flashing madly.
I've had enough. Alpha cut her off mid-sentence.
"I was aware. This was your fault from the beginning, and that person just proved it. She started to get closer to me.
That's enough, Lucy. Alpha advised.
"They want you! Not us! You're the one who started it all, so why do you have the guts to play like the victim as you cower in your chair?"I'm the one who's being victimized here!" She indicates her own body. "You came here first and took Jason from me and my position, and now you're ruining our pack! You will not be permitted, I promise.
Get her out of here, Cole. The unidentified guy approached and seized her writhing arms. She struggled to get free of his grip as she jerked.
You will be caught, she said. She yelled. "I'm not letting you!" She eventually had to be dragged from the room as she continued to curse at me. The whole group in the room was quiet and focused on me. I cuddled further into the leather cushion as my cheeks started to swell.
"I apologize for that. Let's get beyond the rudeness of her intrusion now. The outlaws are becoming a real issue, and they are after my partner, your Luna. He took a moment to ensure that everyone heard and remembered what he had just said. "They won't succeed in their goal, and they won't hurt your Luna. There'll be more training sessions. You must attend the evening training sessions if you miss the morning ones. The woodlands are off-limits to children and freshly shifted puppies, who must always have an adult with them to keep an eye on them. To save energy, additional guards will be hired to monitor the borders, and shifts will be cut in half. I will be made aware of anything that crosses the boundary, and I do mean anything. We won't take this lightly. Understand?"
The room was filled with concurring mutterings. "What if someone does enter our country over the border? What ought should we do?
Before they approach any of the buildings, bring them down. If you can, try to bring them to me; otherwise, if they are causing too much difficulty, put an end to them. It will become worse if you do that. Because that is how they operate, they will accumulate their resources and attempt to seize the land. Either they die or they die. "Megan?" I glanced to the left and unintentionally met her eyes. Do you want to add anything or say anything else? I wanted to say no, but if I did, he would know that I was lying. I bowed my head solemnly.
"It is fairly evident that the rogues recognize me since I was one for a very long time. Never cross the speaker tonight unless you want to die or experience worse. He goes by Gordon. Although he loves to refer to himself as the "Alpha of Rogues," most people know him simply as "Master." He controls a cunning pack, and they are brutal. They're taught to keep going till they're dead. They won't stop until they achieve their goals or they are unable to continue fighting.I sighed and turned to face the ground. "I am aware of his capabilities and the figures he has. In the absence of my surrender to him, he will launch a war. I jumped out of my chair as Alpha let out a loud roar.
"If a war is what he wants, he will get one. You won't be given to him by me. To protect you and this pack, we shall fight tooth and nail. If we need assistance, I will get in touch with the Alphas. We'll prevail in this. To ensure that everyone in the audience understood all he had said, he looked around the room, establishing eye contact with each and every individual. "You are all being let go.
One by one, the men started filing out the door, some of them already discussing the new rotation scheme for the watch hours. There were just a few remaining, so I got up from my chair and started heading out.
"Megan, wait." I came to a complete halt and gently turned around. "I want to talk to you for a minute."
We waited for everyone to exit the room as I remained still, precisely where I had stopped. My gaze was fixed on everything except him, including the office's wall of shelves and the rear wall's window, yet I found myself just gazing down at my feet. Finally, the last person entered through the door frame, closing it behind them.
"Megan." He got up from his desk and came my way by going around it. "Megan, would you kindly turn to face me?" That is rude, I shook my head in disapproval. He stood in front of me with just his bare feet in my line of sight.
My head was tilted back till his eyes met mine as a result of his hand's gradual, gentle grasping of my chin. My instincts shouted at me to turn away, but I was unable to do so as my heart rate increased. I felt a pull toward him. His eyes were a stunning shade of green with a few blue flecks here and there. He carefully raised his other hand, laid it on my face, and moved his thumb back and forth slowly. Although his hands should have frightened me due to their size, they were warm. Oddly, the warmth he gave out from his hands made me feel better. He touched me, and I felt the mate link dance over my skin. My inner wolf was practically purring as I slowly leaned into his fingers.
You're aware that we'll look out for you. That I'll look out for you?" He queried. "I'll make sure nothing bad happens to you," he said.
