Jason's POV
"Megan?" She was about to open my office door when she suddenly halted in her tracks. "Would you accompany me home?" After the prior incident, my wolf was quite agitated and did not want to let her leave our sight. I wanted to be near to her so I could shield her from any potential damage since they may strike again at any time.
Saying "I'm sorry" It was her. She smelled dread, then perplexity. Her expression change caused her formerly harsh scent to become somewhat sour.
"I want you to accompany me back to my house. There is someone I want you to get to know. Although it wasn't fully a falsehood, it also wasn't entirely the truth.
"And you want me to leave?" She sounded so confused, even amazed. It seemed as if she had never had an opinion or been asked to do anything. Knowing that she was under pressure to act a certain way caused my stomach and heart to get uneasy.
I moved a few steps closer and delicately tangled my fingers around hers. In my grasp, her hand was so little, delicate, and sensitive. "I am, of course. I'll always inquire. Never will I force you to do something you don't want to."
"O-okay." She mumbled and lowered her head even further, hiding her face even more from my view under her hair. Through her blonde hair, I could see the soft pink tint accentuating her face.
As I opened the door leading out of my office, I gave her hand a little pull. We started off by strolling around the pack land and pack house. We attracted a lot of looks as we moved. When they finally saw their Luna getting along with their Alpha, their gaze delightedly followed us. When I gently held her hand, I felt it tremble. Knowing she was afraid or uneasy around me or my pack made me sad. She would be in charge of them. She shouldn't need to be afraid of them because I will always be there to protect her from danger.
I walked us to my home along the well-worn route. She became more anxious as I became more at ease being by myself with my partner. I could hear her heart beating in her chest as her hand started to tremble even more. She would be somewhat acquainted with the living room, so I unlocked the front door and escorted her inside. She would likely feel better at ease at a location she was familiar with. I carefully released my grip on her hand and drew it closer, kissing the back of it. I said, "Thank you." I said. The folks I want you to meet won't be here right away since they are currently engaged in other activities. Please feel free to settle in. I indicated the opulent leather sofa. I said, pointing to an open archway, "If you get hungry there is food in the kitchen that is over there." If you need me, I'll be upstairs making calls.
Before heading up the stairs to my private office, I grinned at her. She may want to be left alone for a while, so even though I wanted to remain down there with her, I didn't want to overwhelm her. Additionally, I called certain significant people, including friends and other Alphas, just in case this does develop into a war.
Megan's POV
I observed as his outline vanished and his feet started to make their way up the set of stairs. I searched for further sounds and detected additional odors but couldn't find anything. With the exception of the Alpha, who was just upstairs, I was alone myself in this home. I could feel my body relaxing even though I was still rather near to him. My body started to feel exhausted, and my eyelids started to go droopy.
I was afraid that the Alpha would appear out of nowhere and scold at me for sitting on his property without permission as I moved up to one of the sofas and carefully sat down, but nothing of the kind occurred. I reclined on the couch arm with my feet tucked under my torso. Although chilly, the leather didn't seem uncomfortable. My body effortlessly sank into the couch's plush fabric due to its softness. My eyes and lips soon closed, and I slept off peacefully while soaring and breathing in the mild aroma of cedar and pine.
Jason's POV
After making my last call, I sighed and leaned back in my comfortable office chair.
Are the Warriors and you close to finishing the new watch schedule? I mentally tangled Cole.
Indeed, Alpha. We just completed a short while ago. I'm on my way to my roommate's house. He answered.
"Great, take her to my place after picking her up. Please come meet my Luna.
Certainly, sir. We had both been eager to meet her. She was being sincere, I could tell. His speech included a hint of enthusiasm, which I could perceive.
We stopped talking, and I was struck by how quiet the home was. In fact, since I got home, there hadn't been a sound in the whole house. It was close to two when I looked at the clock on the desk corner. I had assumed she would have prepared her own lunch or at the very least switched on the television to pass the time. Negative ideas nagged at me in the back of my head. She was free to go.
But keeping that in mind, I went downstairs to see how she was doing. I didn't want Cole and his mate to go all the way over here only to find out that their Luna wasn't even here when they arrived, along with their partner, any minute.
The air of her calming and seductive smell greeted me before I even entered the living room. She remained in place. I chuckle to myself as I enter the space. Her aroma became stronger as I got further closer, and I was greeted with a cute sight.
On one of the sofas, I discovered her dozing off. Both arms were bent and serving as pillows, with one touching the floor. When I saw her, my heart swelled and my arms began to hurt, pleading with me to walk over and hug her while she slept.
I moved over to a trunk that was leaning up against the wall and took out a cozy, fluffy blanket. So that I wouldn't wake her, I carefully placed it over her still body.
'Alpha, we are here. Should we enter?"
Yes, and would you just be quiet. She is already asleep.
