CHAPTER 25
MONTANA'S POV
I just got challenged to a duel and everyone was staring at me. I was the Luna, Luna Montana, and in front of everyone I got challenged.
All eyes were on me, what would happen if I declined? Does that disgrace Alpha Lincoln? Won't people talk about him marrying a weak wolf since he is the most powerful Alpha?
My brain ran a hundred miles, should I just walk out on this? I sized the girl.
"Well, with all due respect Luna, if you are scared to have a duel with me, that's okay, we understand", the girl started laughing as others cackled softly.
"Ouch", that was indeed an insult and a slap to my face.
"I accept your challenge to duel", I had no idea when that came out of my mouth and now there was no going back.
The girl had a smirk on her face as everything went back to being serious, "That is more like it, Luna."
The way she said the Luna sounded in a very mocking way, which seemed like her intention. Oh Moon Goddess, even if just today, help me out on this one, I can not afford to lose.
They were given a place and spot for the fight and one of the top Male warriors was calling the shots, rules were made and soon more pack members came to watch. I have to be strong.
Now it was time for the fight and this pack warrior, this girl or lady, whatever had her muscles tensed and did not even wait for me to get ready launched a powerful right hook aiming for my jaw, and guess what?
I swiftly ducked, avoiding the punch with an agility that I never knew I had. While seizing this opportunity, I attempted a counterstrike, wanting to aim a quick jab at the warrior's midsection but as I should have known, she was surely skilled and defended my attack smoothly.
I'm response to what I did, she got so upset and forcefully kicked my side and punched me straight to my nose and I stumbled backwards as blood rushed out of my nose.
Gasps were heard.
The warrior started laughing, "Look at her stumble, is this the one leading us, for worth is worth, it is more like leading a comedy show", she mocked me, "You call yourself Luna and you can not even handle a simple challenge, how else are you supposed to lead us in battle or protect our pack when you can not even handle a fight huh?."
She questioned loud enough for everyone to hear as I wiped my nose with my clothes, my head already pounding.
The warrior cracked her neck, "Nice try with those feeble jabs dear Luna, is that the best the mighty Luna can do?", she smirked and I took a deep breath, standing in position.
It was too early to give up, I had to stand my ground for as much as I could. I circled her to avoid confrontation.
"I have seen pups with more fight in them than you, is this the strength we want leading us?", The warrior shouted and then looked at me with so much detest, "Maybe we need a new Luna who can lead us into victory and not failure", and with that said she ran to me and attacked.
I was able to dodge some of her blows and kicks but what I did not see was her elbow slamming into my stomach hardly.
And when that caught me off guard, the warrior used that as an opportunity and gave me an uppercut, making me fly to the ground on my back as blood poured from my mouth. My vision was getting blurry.
"I think that is enough", one warrior, different from the one I was fighting said.
"No, rules are rules and our dear Luna has to submit first before we call it quits", the female warrior I was fighting said.
What was her problem? Did she have a beef with me or something?
"Are we even sure she is an Omega? I have seen stronger omegas in preys we catch or even stronger omegas among us and our dear Luna is already tired", the female warrior scoffed, "Leading must be exhausting work for someone who is not even strong."
I closed my eyes and forced myself to stand up, I won't give up so easily.
"Luna just submit", someone whispered to me. I already felt useless, and I could already see the eyes of the people around me, pity, and disappointment.
I shook my head.
"Well let's finish this up then", the female warrior chuckled and came at me.
With anger, I summoned all the anger I felt and gave her a blow on her stomach.
"So freaking weak, you can not even land a punch, disgusting piece of shit", the female warrior said and dragged me by my hair while I winced in pain. Her arms were now around my neck and she pressed tightly on them, "Submit or this will be worse for you."
"I do not know why our Alpha has a mate like you, a weak mate, it does not make any sense, and as far as I am concerned you are a curse to him. Just look at you, see the way everyone looks at you, you are a disgrace, I even pity you for fighting with you because this is not even regarded as a fight. This is me beating you up", She said in my eyes and squeezed tighter, making me unable to breathe.
I finally gave in and tapped, she held me in for a few more seconds before letting me go and I fell to my knees, I looked pretty beaten up. I bent my head in submission, "You win", I said out loud for her to hear and everyone else.
"Of course I won, I knew I would from the start. Look at you submit like a scared pup", she taunted me more and I could not say anything but be ashamed of myself even more.
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE??!", I finally heard the voice I was waiting for but I guess I should not always expect him to save me every time I get into trouble.
