Veronica was still unconscious. It looked like she automatically shut her mind after the near tragedy happened to her. Jaxon stared at her for so long when Morgan and Uriel entered the room.
Morgan had a worried expression when he rushed to Veronica. He clenched the metallic armrest of the bed and didn't leave his eyes on Veronica. Morgan was sad when he got the news about his mother; he thought Veronica would leave him.
“Mom… Open your eyes, please. Stop sleeping. You can't sleep for so long." Morgan whispered, but he made sure that Veronica would still hear what he would say.
Uriel glanced at Veronica's body. There were strange emotions in his eyes, but it was removed when he looked at Jaxon. “Alpha, what happened? I found out that someone is trying to kill you. I already searched the area, and I'm sure they will return. Do you offend someone?” Uriel asked.
Jaxon shook his head. He was upset about what Veronica had done to him. He was an Alpha; he knew how to protect himself, and if Veronica trusted him. Maybe, Veronica wasn't in the hospital anymore.
“Do everything to capture those idiots. I want to make them suffer in my hands. I think you already know what I mean, right?” Jaxon's hands clenched when his eyes went back to Veronica. He took a hard breath and closed his eyes to calm himself.
“I already investigated whoever did this to you. I'm still waiting for the results. What happened to Luna, then? Morgan was crying when he heard about what happened with his mother.” Uriel couldn't stop from inquiring. He wanted to make sure that Jaxon wasn't the culprit of what happened to Veronica.
Jaxon looked at Morgan, who was too busy looking at his mother. Jaxon felt how his heart clenched when he noticed that Morgan didn't even greet him. How could he see those things now?
Morgan was his child. He already did some DNA tests to make sure that Uriel was telling him the truth, but Morgan wasn't too close to him. They were both cold and only Veronica made their world shine.
Jaxon remembered how Morgan always searched for him when he was a child. He still remembered how Morgan hugged him tightly while Veronica was watching him using her innocent eyes.
However, since the incident that happened to Veronica. Morgan didn't even talk to Jaxon a lot. Jaxon felt that his child built a giant wall between them, and he knew that Morgan was only blaming him. What Morgan might think about Jaxon is that he was the only reason why Veronica lost her memories.
Little did Jaxon know Morgan was waiting for his answer. He knew that it was his father's fault again.
“Veronica went to the field. She wanted to have training, and I kept teasing her. She was about to leave me when a silver arrow flew toward me. She pushed me, which made me not get a wound. She didn't even move that time, and I noticed she was trembling, and her body froze for a moment.” Jaxon answered, which made Morgan grip the metallic bar and bite his lips to prevent himself from saying disrespectfully.
Jaxon glanced at his son, and he noticed Morgan clasping his hands, enraged. It looked like Morgan was mad at him again, especially when Jaxon heard how Morgan sniffed.
“Mom, wake up. Let's leave this pack. We don't belong here.” Morgan kept uttering those words, which made Jaxon sigh violently. Uriel was surprised, but he didn't comment.
“Mom, you have a lot of promise to me. Don't you dare sleep for a long time again? You don't need to endure how those pack members of this pack treated you. I'm here.” Morgan added.
“What are you talking about, Morgan? Are you accusing my pack embers of being unfair to your mother?” Jaxon was agitated, mainly because his son was trying to ruin his beautiful image. “Did you know that it's bad when you are lying to me? You are slandering those innocent people because your mother is in the hospital bed.”
“But it's you again. You are the only reason why my mother kept going back here to this stupid hospital. I don't understand why she needed to help you. It's your fault, Dad. I wished I had another father who would treat my mom better.” Morgan cried and started to weep. Jaxon was speechless, and his jaw clenched. Jaxon looked at Morgan in anger, but he couldn't stop himself from getting hurt because of what Morgan had been saying to him.
Morgan was growing. Jaxon felt that he regretted not staying with Morgan. Would Morgan still blame him if they were closed?
“She will be happy with a different man,” Morgan added when he started to pant.
“Morgan! I'm your Alpha! How dare you act stubborn to me?” Jaxon used his authoritative voice, which made Morgan feel even more disappointed with him.
Morgan knew that Veronica was enduring everything because of him. Morgan bowed his head and didn't say anything. Morgan promised himself that he would do anything to leave his father's pack, whatever might cause.
“Alpha, you don't need to be mad at Morgan. He's a child. He is emotional because he loves his mother so much. You know that it was Veronica who was close to him.” Uriel was trying to relax Jaxon, but Jaxon didn't have plans to make Morgan treated like a child.
If Morgan were treated like a baby, he wouldn't be able to consider his future responsibility. Morgan was his only successor, and Morgan kept making Jaxon feel those strange emotions. Morgan might have ended up being a stubborn child.
Jaxon clenched his teeth. He was hurt and mad at the same time for how his son treated him. Jaxon sighed before he said, “Don't eat for two days. I will inform them not to bring some food for Morgan. Maybe after this, Morgan will stop doing something stupid."
