He slowly realized that he was lucky to have her. He was fortunate that she was with him despite what he had done to her in the past. He licked his lips and hugged her tightly.
“If you didn't want me to kill them, why don't you tell me what happened?” he inquired. She sighed to stop herself from getting anxious. He might suspect her that she talked with her family. She didn't want them to get harmed.
“I thought that you didn't have any plans to go here. I'm sorry, did I make you worry? Aside from that, I'm famished, and I don't want to disturb you because you are too busy talking with them.” she answered, which made him laugh loudly when he heard what she said to him.
“Wait, are you already pregnant? I don't think you are pregnant since we had sex days before this party.” He teased, which made her eyes widen. She didn't know how she would react, especially since he was making fun of her as if they were usually dating each other.
“Are you trying to make me feel bad that I'm hungry?” she pouted and was almost surprised when he lowered his head and claimed her lips. ”Why did you do that? We are at the party, and I don't want them to think I'm seducing you..”
“You are trying to seduce me, Veronica. Did you even see what you look like in front of the mirror? You look seductive and stunning. You get caught their eyes, and I didn't like it.”
“You didn't like what I wore...” She acted sad, making him pause and clear his throat.
“I didn't like when someone looked at you with lust. I'm a man, and I know if someone wants my date so bad. Unfortunately, you are only exclusive to me.” He uttered, which made her force herself to smile at him.
She realized that she was like a trophy in his eyes. A territory that he needed to protect, and she didn't like it. She's a wolf; she had a feeling. She could be happy and hurt at the same time! He made her feel that she was his favorite toy that he always wanted to play with.
She swallowed when she slowly tasted the sourness from her mouth. She thought that Ava might be telling her the truth.
“I'm excited to go home and remove this dress from your body,” he added.
She acted like she liked what he was telling her, but the truth was, she didn't like it. She felt she wanted to leave Alpha Jaxon on the spot but what about Morgan?
“Me, too.” she simply replied. She knew that if she made him mad, he would cage and control her again. She wanted to know what happened that night before she got pregnant by Jaxon's child.
“You are starving. Let's go. You can eat whatever you want.” He muttered and pulled her to their table.
The party started, and she saw what the Alpha Kings looked like. She felt amazed when she saw a lot of people who were too powerful in the whole world. Her eyes landed on Ava, who was looking at her. She acted like she didn't even see her.
Why does she feel she was a criminal for making him not see that she knew that she had a sister? Where did she put her confidence? Does her faith vanish when she gets her amnesia?
Or maybe, she wasn't too confident before she got her amnesia. She felt that she endured being mistreated by how those people who surrounded her asked why she was letting Jaxon do those things to her.
Jaxon left her at their table, and she had been waiting for him for so long. She looked around and saw Helene entering the room, which made her think that Jaxon was inside the room.
“Did you all know that the Alpha King chose Jaxon as the new Alpha King? Well... He is known to be ruthless to his enemy. He already has the power to act like the Alpha King.”
“Yes, I heard the news. He's a hot topic in our society. He is scary but stunning. Helene is too lucky to have him.”
She blinked her eyes when she heard those women who were behind her talking about Jaxon and Helene. She didn't like to listen to what they would say, but her curiosity always ate her.
“I feel bad for Alpha Jaxon. He lost his parents because he chose Helene. I know that he is madly in love with her. We discovered that Helene worked in Alpha Jaxon's pack as an Omega before the Alpha King was here. Alpha Jaxon's parents didn't like Helene for him, and when he eloped with Helene, his parents died. They were burned alive.”
”Oh my! I can't believe this! That isn't very pleasant!”
“Yes, it is, but he is madly in love with Helene. We all know that they are suited to each other now.”
“But... Did you even see the woman who is with him? She's beautiful.”
Veronica stopped reacting to make them not notice that she was listening to their conversation. She glanced at her hands when they began trembling.
“Oh... It's Veronica. She's the daughter of the pack that Alpha Jaxon wanted. Didn't you even hear that Alpha Jaxon got her pregnant because she is the upcoming Alpha, then? I feel bad for her; she's too easy to trick!”
“Yes, I already heard about it. Maybe, she fell in love with Alpha Jaxon and endured what he was doing to her. Some servants even gossiped that they heard them begging and crying whenever Alpha Jaxon hurt her.”
She closed her eyes and gasped. She didn't even know that she got physically abused by Jaxon, but how?
“I think she's his personal slut since he already got her pregnant. If Ava dies, she will be the next Alpha again, and Alpha Jaxon will finally reach the land successfully.” the women giggled, talking about her. She didn't even know if she was embarrassed that there were a lot of people who knew about what happened to her. Or she would be hurt because Jaxon only used her for his gain.
