She sobbed loudly as she clenched the sheets. She was mourning even though she still hadn't heard that Morgan might be dead or alive.
Her tears continued flowing as the thunder struck once again. It was raining heavily, and it looked like a typhoon was coming from their land.
“Morgan...” she called.
She didn't know why she needed to experience those hellish things in Jaxon's hands. What did she do wrong to him? Why did she need to be weak? She was an Alpha, the successor of their pack, but after she got connected with Jaxon, her life became miserable.
She lay on the bed and slowly curled her body when she hugged the soft pillows. She shook her head and kept uttering her son's name. She wanted to see Morgan, and she didn't even mind if Jaxon accepted Morgan or not.
‘It's Jaxon's fault. Maybe, they are right that he intentionally slept with me so I would be removed as the next Alpha,’
‘Jaxon, you're so evil! I promise that I will make you regret what you have done to me!’
She stared at the ceiling. Her heart was full of resentment towards her mate. Jaxon was the only one that she would blame. Why does the moon goddess give her a heartless one? A man who constantly cheated on her mate. She deserved someone better, someone, who would cherish and respect her as his exclusive woman.
She bit her lip. She was unaware when she fell asleep. Even in her dreams, she was heartbroken. She hoped that everything was only a nightmare.
“Is she awake? Is she fine?”
She slowly got awake when she heard Jaxon speak. He was outside the ward because she pleaded with the doctor not to let him enter her room. She threatened that she would kill herself if Jaxon came closer to her.
She instantly hated the mate bond. When she was a child, she was excited to be with her mate. Now, everything was different. She felt that she didn't have the right to be happy, so that she would do those things to Jaxon, too.
“We didn't know. She didn't like that someone was assisting her. She's scared that someone might hurt her. Alpha, you must give her some space. She has amnesia, and you aren't helping her if you push to talk with her.”
“I didn't ask your opinion. I'm asking you if she's awake.” Jaxon's tone was grumpy.
“She was awake when Uriel came here. She asked us not to let you in.”
“I'm the Alpha of this pack. Are you obeying her more than me? Aren't you scared that I will cut your neck?”
“You are an Alpha, but we have different rules in the hospital. I'm the resident who will decide whether to obey her or not. If you are selfish and want to trigger her emotions, go inside.”
“Are you willing to get beheaded just because she asked you not to”
“I'm the pack doctor of this pack. You're an Alpha, but I believe an Alpha should respect every werewolf's decision. Aside from that, she's a patient, so I'm doing this. She's my patient, Alpha.”
Veronica was frightened that Jaxon might hurt the pack doctor because of her. She felt that she had an ally when the pack doctor decided to do what he had promised to her.
“I will ask her again. I will inform you if she finally gets her memories back.” the pack doctor added.
“No need. I will order my Beta to take her away from here tomorrow. Don't do something stupid. I'm not punishing you because you do what you must do with your patient.”
She opened her eyes instantly. She stared at the window and noticed that it was still dark. She gulped in determination. She dislikes seeing Jaxon again.
‘Jaxon, I would rather die than be with you! I'm not stupid to accept you as my mate!’
She was desperate, and she would ensure she would escape from Jaxon's pack after he left the hospital.
When she heard that Jaxon was already left the hospital, she sat on the bed and looked out the window. Once she eluded, she knew that they would search for her.
Maybe, Jaxon might kill her for being stubborn. He disliked that someone was disobeying him, but she didn't like to see him anymore. She would instead jump out from the cliff and die peacefully.
She didn't like to regret that she didn't do anything to free herself. She promised that Jaxon wouldn't see her the next day.
Jaxon peacefully slept when he heard the commotion coming from the pack house. He was sweating and continued groaning because of his dreams. In his dreams, Veronica left him permanently.
