“She's been sleeping for a week. Are you sure that she's fine? You told me that she's not in a coma, right?” Veron asked once again to his Beta. He stared at the unconscious Veronica and felt sympathy towards her.
He gulped. He was guilty. He doesn't dare to speak out to Helene because he is trying to be her excellent brother, significant since Helene grew up outside their pack.
“It's the pack doctor who is checking her. I'm your Beta, not the pack doctor.”
Veron groaned when he heard what his Beta had told him. He seemed irritated that he couldn't stop himself from glaring at him. How dare his Beta talk back to him without even giving him respect.
“Calm down. You're stressed again. Did you even think what your sister will think once she finds out, she's here in your place?” His Beta asked.
“I will give her to her old pack once I ensure she's fine.” He answered.
“The pack doctor assured me that she will be fine. You trusted our pack doctor, but because of her, you seemed to have a trust issue.”
“No, you're wrong...”
“Stop denying everything. We have known each other for so long, which means I know you're lying now.”
“Shut up! Why don't you ask the doctor to do something to wake her up?”
“She will wake up if she wants. She's tired of her life. As long as she's breathing, you don't need to worry.”
Veron gritted his teeth, and he was about to say something when he accidentally saw that Veronica's hands were moving. His eyes widened in surprise, and he rushed toward Veronica.
“Call the doctor now!” He ordered.
“What happened? We called the doctor ten times! I want to make sure that there is a reason why we need to call him!”
“She moves her finger. I'm sure of it.” Veron felt the warmness in his heart grow. He held Veronica's hand and gasped when he saw Veronica's lashes move.
“Veronica, did you hear me?” Veron bit his lip when Veronica opened her eyes. She seemed confused and kept looking at the white ceiling. She had a wound on her forehead.
“Morgan...” Veronica called her son, making Veron feel terrible for her again. She tried to sit, but Veron was too fast to stop her.
“Don't do anything. The pack doctor will go here. Wait for him.” Veron murmured and paused when his eyes locked on Veronica. He didn't know that Veronica was looking at him intently as if she was trying to remember him. He gulped and looked away. “Why are you looking at me? Did you forget me?”
Veronica gave him a stoic expression before she answered, “No, I'm not. It's questionable that you are the one who saved me even though your sister hated me.”
“I'm doing this because this is the right thing.”
“Yes, it's a good thing that you saved me. I can live in this miserable world without hope. Did you think that I wanted to be saved by you? I want to die, Veron!” Veronica's tears formed in her eyes. She was upset instead of thankful, making Veron feel agitated toward her.
“I jumped out from the cliff because I want to die. I don't want to live in this world, but you bring me back here. Tell me, Veron, did your sister order you to keep doing this to me?” Veronica's tone was full of accusations. She gnashed her teeth and clenched the sheet as long as she might. She gasped and tried to leave the bed, but Veron stopped her.
“What's wrong with you, Veronica? Did you even know there is someone who still wants to live and fight this world, but they can't? Helene didn't know that I had helped you! Did you even know how worried I was when I found out that you jumped out from the cliff? Did you even think about Morgan? You aren't sure that he's dead.”
Veronica paused and gulped. Her eyes were bloodshot, and her tears fell down her cheeks. He never thought that there was a possibility that Morgan might be alive.
How could she act recklessly? Maybe, it was because of Jaxon. She didn't like to be with him. She would choose to die than stay with him on another day.
“I thought that you weren't selfish. I'm searching for Morgan, too.” Veron whispered and felt heightened that Veronica was trying to calm herself.
“I-I'm scared.” Veronica's lips trembled, and her lips parted when Veron hugged her. She closed her eyes before she sobbed at Veron's chest.
“Don't be scared. We are here for you. What you need to do is to change yourself. Do something. Are you sure that you will choose to die than get your revenge?” he muttered, making her stunned.
She forgot about the revenge. When she opened her eyes, it was full of hatred towards Jaxon.
“If you don't have the chance to be peacefully happy, they didn't have to. Make their lives miserable, and I don't mind if you will decide to teach Helene her lesson.”
As the pack doctor came, Veronica was relaxed. She was cooperating with the doctor and felt that she had a reason to live once again. Veron was watching her, answering the doctor's question.
“What did you do? She seems fine.” His Beta couldn't stop from asking. Veron didn't bother to talk; he couldn't believe he had decided to teach his sister a lesson.
It took a week for Veronica to recover. She did everything to learn some new things. All she thought was to give justice to herself. She needed to have the power and strength to fight with Jaxon.
“Alpha, we have a visitor. They are here because they find out that Veronica is here.”
“What?” Veron panicked. He caught Veronica's attention.
