“What's the matter, Veron?” Veronica couldn't stop herself from asking Veron, especially when she noticed that he seemed upset and bothered at the same time.
She walked in his direction without breaking their eye contact, making Veron gasp momentarily. He looked away when she was in front of him.
“What's happening? Is there something wrong?” she paused, and her lips trembled in fear, “Did Jaxon find me here?”
She knew that there was a possibility that Jaxon might find her too fast. He wouldn't be one of the best Alphas if he didn't have the ability.
“I-I don't know. Please stay here then; I will check whoever they are.” Veron replied, making her think that it was Jaxon.
She stepped back. Her hands started to shake aggressively, and she bit her lips to prevent them from exposing her feelings. She didn't like to see Jaxon, and she knew that Jaxon would force her to be with him.
“O-Okay, inform me right away if it's not Jaxon,” she mumbled, and tears formed in her eyes suddenly. She thought that she was fine, but that was her mistake. She wouldn't be fine if it were about her mate, Jaxon.
Veron hardly breathes. He didn't say anything when he turned around at her and left her inside the room. She grasped her hand, and tightened her grip.
‘It's not Jaxon. I didn't even smell his scent. You have another visitor.’
She stopped when she heard an audible voice inside her head. It was her wolf. She instantly believed her wolf because she was connected with Jaxon's wolf.
‘Did you even know if Morgan is alive? I want to see him.’
‘Sad to say, Veronica, but I can't. Morgan didn't have a wolf.’
Her tears flowed down her cheeks. She hoped that her wolf could detect if Morgan were alive.
‘Veron is helping you. You can trust him.’
‘Are you sure about that? He's Helene's brother. I don't think that I can trust someone who is connected to Helene. She's a bitch.’
‘I know that she's a bitch, Veronica. If Helene is like that, it doesn't mean that Veron is like her. You're trying to judge him without even thinking that he's the one who helped you.’
‘I don't want to trust someone who is connected to Helene. Aside from that, there's a chance that Helene kidnapped Morgan.’
‘You're right. That's another reason why you should stay close to Veron. He's the one who can help you. Finally, you see my point here!’
She was stunned when her wolf started to treat her with attitude. She gulped, but she didn't like to say that her wolf was right. She needed Veron's help to find Morgan.
Veron was connected to the Alpha King. That was the best backer she could have but how? The Alpha King liked to impress Helene so much because Helene didn't grow with them.
‘You want revenge. Use him. You will not be dependent on him, but you can take him as one of your cards.’ her wolf commented, making her stop.
‘Didn't you even think that Helene did everything to remove you from her sight? It will be the best torture for her to see her brother with you. She might successfully remove you as Jaxon's mate, but she can't control Veron.’ her wolf added.
She gasped. She didn't want to admit it, but she liked the idea that her wolf was giving her.
However, she wanted to learn to become strong Alpha, and if she used Veron, how could she learn everything?
“Veronica...” She quickly looked at the one who called her. Her expression turned shocked when Ava walked towards her. Ava seemed stressed, and she looked like she barely slept.
She noticed that her sister had lost some weight even more. Ava had a dark circle in her eyes, indicating she always slept late.
“You're alive. We search you since we find out that you're missing!” Ava rushed toward her and embraced her tightly. She gulped when she felt her throat getting dry because of her emotions.
It was Ava, who got the throne after what she had done, but she couldn't find any hatred towards her. Ava cried, and she didn't break her hugged on her. She closed her eyes before she lightly pushed her away.
“What are you doing here? How did you find me?”
“I have my ways, too. I thought that you were dead because Jaxon didn't find you. I discovered you're with Veron because someone sent me a letter.”
“A letter? Who send you that?”
”I don't know. It's still anonymous. It indicates in the letter that you're staying here to recover. At first, I thought it was you because you wanted me to stay with you. Mom will be glad to know that you're still kicking.”
“Ava. I can't. I'm not welcome in our pack anymore. Aren't you ashamed that you're talking to someone like me? I don't have a mate, and my son is missing. Aren't you scared that I might bring bad luck to you?”
Ava pursed her lips before she answered, “Why would I? You're my sister! I'm making some plans to control the elders. It's their fault that you're suffering, and I will not forgive them for what they have done. Our parents are helping me to locate you.”
“You're only telling me that to get back in the pack. Do you still remember how our father kicked me out?”
Ava bit her lips and looked around to see if someone was secretly listening to their conversation.
“Your memories went back. Yes, our father did that because that's the right thing that he needs to know. He wants to control the council, but he doesn't give it power. He already regrets what he did to you.”
Veronica nodded her head and continued listening to what Ava had been planning. She must cooperate to get back to their pack. She couldn't believe it when she found out the dirty closets of every elder in their pack.
“You need to play their games well. Could you not make them know you know how to play it.”
Veronica was standing in the room where she would meet the elders alone. Ava told her that she needed to do something alone so they would know that she could manage the pack.
As she entered the room, she saw several elders stunned momentarily when they saw her. She looked at them stoically before she smirked and said, “Don't be surprised. It's only me.”
“What are you doing here? Did you know that you aren't allowed to go here? You aren't part of this pack anymore.”
Veronica gritted her teeth and approached the man who spoke to her disrespectfully. She took a small knife and stabbed the man in his hand. The man screamed in horror, pain making the others astounded in fear.
“If I belong here, did you all think you deserve those positions? You all did something evilly than me. Do you want me to tell you everything that I know?” she smiled innocently and called the guards to help her kick the man.
“Now, let's start the meeting. I want to be the Alpha of our pack, or else I will expose everything that you all have done in our pack.” she grinned and enjoyed looking at the elders, who seemed anxious because of what she was trying to blackmail them.
