Veronica didn't know how long she slept but she got woke up when a rat came in her direction. She yelled in fear and stopped screaming when she heard a man chuckle at her.
She paused for a moment and checked who it was. She gasped when she saw an unfamiliar man, who was standing behind her. It seemed the man had the same age as Jaxon based on his body build.
“Who are you?” She asked and stepped back. She felt worried that the man might hurt her. She gulped when the man laughed so loudly.
The man stepped forward, while there was a grin on his lips. He pursed his lips and tried to intimidate her again.
“Don't come near me! Shit!” She cursed so loudly as she took the stick that was nearer to her. The man shook his head and chuckled.
“Did you think that you can kill me using that thing?” There was a mockery in the man's tone. He crossed his arms and stared at the dry wooden stick in Veronica's hands.
“I can't kill you using this. What important is I can use this to stop you from coming closer to me? I want you to tell me your name.” She gritted her teeth when the man decided to walk once again. She screamed out of her lungs and was about to hit the man but she stopped when the man easily broke the stick.
Her eyes widened in horror. Well, the stick was too easy to break so she doesn't need to be amazed because of it. She swallowed and tried to attack the man, but he only dodge her every move.
“Are you trying to fight with me? You look like a child who wants to fight with an adult. Why don't you give me your best shot so I will think that you deserve my time.” The man quickly grabbed her hands, making her astounded. She angrily slapped the man on his face before she pushed him which made the man slip from the mud.
“I might didn't know how to fight with you but I know that I need to protect myself. Stupid!” Veronica took another dry wooden stick when the man tried to stand up. She started beating him, making the man groan in pain and unfortunate.
“Stop this! Fuck, I'm dirty!”
She didn't stop from hitting him. The man didn't even introduce himself to her so why she would trust a man like him?
She would rather hit a man like him than be killed because she was so stupid to sleep in the middle of the forest. She was sure that once Ava had discovered it, she would get loudly nagged at her.
“I want your name if you want me to stop.”
“I'm not allowed to give you my name. Where's your invitation?”
“What invitation are you talking about?”
“The black card. Did you forget that you need to find me? you went here to be my student but you didn't do anything to search for me than to sleep in the middle of the forest. Are you fucking stupid?” The man snarled, making her stop. She swallowed and felt the guilt coming toward her body.
“I-I didn't know that it is you. Are you sure that you're the master who is teaching his students to learn how to fight?”
”I'm not a liar, damn it.” The man crawled, and she moved closer to him to help him. She followed him when he went the right way and saw a lake.
“Is this your place? I didn't know that you were too young. I thought that the older man is the one who will help me.” She tried to open up some topics, making the man shook his head in disbelief.
“I carried you here because you might be in danger. There is a possibility that you will end up dying while you're in the middle of the forest. Who's the older man that you're talking about?”
“He's the older man that I helped with. I hope that he's safe.”
The man was stunned for a little moment before he took a glance at Veronica. His grinning eyes made him more attractive.
“He was not with you when I saw you. It looks like he left you. Next time, don't do that again. We can start practicing tomorrow if you want.” The man finally brought up the training that he would do to Veronica.
She was astounded, and her lips trembled for she didn't know what she was going to say.
“You passed my test so you will be my next student. Your desperation made me think that you can achieve your goal here.” The man added and walked in her direction. Veronica's eyes widened in surprise, and she happily. She couldn't control her emotions so she ended up hugging the man tightly.
“Hey! Stop hugging me. I don't like it when someone is trying to be closer to me. You are not my friend, you are my student.” The man pushed her away, making Veronica pout.
She followed him again, and the man didn't talk or stopped her. They both stopped at the door, and the man opened it.
“No... I don't want to do that thing if that's what you want in return.” She mumbled, making the man scowl
“You're crazy! I want you to come inside because this will be your place while you're having training with me.”
“Oh, that's it.” Veronica looked away and felt her cheeks burned.
“Don't be too ambitious. I will rather stay unmated than be with you. Why don't you start cooking something for us that we can eat? As my student, you need to know that obeying your master is one of your keys.”
