Veronica was speechless, and she couldn't stop checking James' reaction. She arched her brow to her sister, who was astounded when Adam spoke. It seemed Ava forgot that there was a man beside her.
Her sister coughed while blushing.
“Veronica, I want you to meet Adam.” Ava finally dared to talk, and let Adam shake his hand to Veronica's hand. She bit her lips when James gave her a death glare.
“I-I didn't know that you have a boyfriend! You didn't even inform me about it? I thought we will not hide anything between us, Ava.” she said.
“Alpha Veronica, I'm sorry if my girlfriend didn't inform you about it. She's not even ready to have a relationship with me but I was the one who pursued her. She can't resist my charms.” Adam jokingly replied that made James want to puke.
Charms? He doesn't notice that Adam had the charm that he was talking about. He couldn't stop from having a grumpy expression especially when Adam kissed Ava's forehead.
“Adam shut up! Are you trying to embarrass me?” Ava said using the mind link, and stepped on Adam's feet which made Adam scream in pain.
“Are you okay?” Veronica couldn't stop but to ask especially when Adam's face flushed, and there were tears in his eyes. He shook his head too fast and bit his lip.
“I'm alright, Alpha. You don't need to worry about me. Someone bit me on my feet, and it's painful.” He moaned when Ava stepped on it again.
“Stop it, Ava, or else, I will expose your dirty secrets. Damn you!” Adam shrieked using the mind link that made Ava stop.
“Oh, we can go to the infirmary to check it. We need to make sure that it doesn't have poison!” Veronica exclaimed. She was about to hold Adam when Ava pulled Adam away from me and made Veronica stunned for a little moment.
“Veronica, it's better if I'm the one who will be with him in the infirmary. You can ask someone to give Alpha James his room. I will be right back.” Ava didn't wait for Veronica to reply and quickly dragged Adam away from them. Her cheeks were pinkish, and her body changed as well that James couldn't stop from looking at her.
Veronica was watching her sister secretly punching Adam on his back. They seemed sweet which made James gnash his teeth in fury. James tried his best to smile but he failed instantly.
“They are too sweet. I'm happy that Ava finally met someone who will be with her. Unfortunately, her mate seems late to notice her.” Veronica uttered that made James scowl at her. She laughed and continued walking in the pack.
“Shut up, Veronica. Did you think that I'm too affected?” James was in denial.
“Yes, did you even notice how you looked at them? You're too ready to kill them. Don't do that, she's my sister!”
“You're sister didn't want me to reject her but she has a different boy here. I didn't know that she's a playgirl.”
“She's not like that, James. Did you think that Ava keeps playing with someone's heart? Did she successfully play your feelings, huh?”
“She's not. I'm not affected by her. Just don't mention the mate bond because it seems she already forget about it.” James felt that his words were coming out of his nose. He didn't like it. His heart was rallying inside him, and his wolf kept calling him some so-called names.
“It's great that you aren't affected. After all, she will be my Beta, and I didn't want you to have a secret fight with her. Ava is great when it comes to fighting, and she helped the pack as long as she can.” Veronica replied and stopped when she finally noticed the pack house. She waved her hands when she saw her mother rushing in her direction.
James didn't say anything. He already know that Ava was the soon-to-be Beta of Veronica. He didn't mind working with Ava as long as she would do everything to work well as the Beta.
Aside from that, he had already investigated Ava, since he had found out that she was his mate. Her achievements made him pleased in his eyes but it doesn't change the fact that he disliked meeting his mate.
“Finally, you came back here. Did you even know how stubborn your sister is? I caught her many times having an intimate position with her boyfriend!” Her mother ranted which made James' heard how his wolf cursed in jealousy.
Veronica hardly coughed and felt embarrassed about what her mother had uttered. “Mom, I want you to meet Alpha James. He's the one who trained me. He will be my future alliance.”
“Oh, nice meeting you, Alpha!”
Ava was gritting her teeth while she was walking with Adam. She couldn't stop to think about James' face. She didn't like to assume that James finally wanted to be with her.
“Are you sure that our acting is great? I want to be sweet with you in front of him but when he looked at me. He looks like he's too ready to kill me!” Adam muttered which made Ava shake her head.
She didn't believe that James was affected by their acting. She was disappointed that James didn't do anything to make her be with you. Does it mean that he's too ready to reject her? However, what about her?
“Hey, you're not talking. Are you in so much joy that you can't talk to me? We have a deal, right?” It was Adam.
“He's not even affected. I think he will still reject me that's it.”
“Ava, do you love him? Are you sure that you want him to be your mate?” Adam asked that made her stunned for a moment.
