“Congratulations on being the new Alpha of your pack, Veronica.” Veron whispered, and there was a slight smile hidden on his lips. He tightened his grip when he hugged her, which stunned Veronica for a little moment.
She was confused. She never remembered that she was too attached to Veron, but it was Veron who helped her get to know James. It was Veron who helped her and believed in her first!
She giggled when she heard how Ava faked her cough. It seemed she was checking her, and her sister didn’t like that she was too close with Veron. Well, she understood that her sister didn’t trust Veron because he was Helene's brother.
“I appreciate that you came to my Alpha Ceremony! It’s been so long since we didn’t see each other.” She pursed her lips and chuckled nervously when Veron gave her a strange glimpse. She thought that she was so mute that even her mouth stopped moving.
“Your sister invited me here. I’m surprised because I thought that the training process would take months.”
“Oh, about the training, I want you to meet my trainer, Alpha James.” She grabbed James hand and didn’t mind when James started protesting. She pinched his waist, which led James to groan in pain. “He’s the one who helped me learn everything,” she added.
“I already know him. We met several times whenever my father had a party. Although it is nice to see you again, Alpha James, Veron gave his hand, and James didn’t think twice about accepting it. James only nodded, and he didn’t say anything that made her befuddled. James was talkative to someone that he knew, but it seemed James didn’t like Veron at all.
“Veronica, the truth is, I want to invite you. My father has a party tomorrow. It’s to all of the Alphas in the world.” Veron paused for a moment when Ava cleared her throat again. Her forehead creased, and she turned around to check on Ava, who was bewildered when she saw her stare.
“Ava, why don’t you assist our guests here? James needs someone who can accompany him in the pack. We will talk about the projects that we need to do.” She ordered that, which made Ava have a grumpy face. She didn’t like to be connected with James, but she didn’t have a choice since she was the Beta of their pack. She gave her a death glare that made Ava finally obey what she wanted.
“I’m sorry about Ava. She’s so overprotective of me.” She whispered something that made Veron nod at her and give her a laugh.
“It’s fine; sometimes she’s too scary!” he jokingly said.
She chuckled with him, especially when James followed Ava, who had been with Adam all along. She scratched her forehead; she forgot that Adam was with her sister, and James seemed like a third party to them.
She bit her lip because she noticed how James gave her a murderous stare, as if he didn’t like that she gave him to Ava. However, she was with James for a long time, which made her know that he didn’t like it because of Adam.
“About the party that you mention,” She didn’t finish her words when Veron cut her off.
“Oh, yes! I come here to personally invite you to be my date for the party tomorrow. I hope that you will not decline my request.” He muttered something that made her speechless again.
She wasn’t prepared to meet Helene and Jaxon once again, but she knew that she couldn’t hide herself for so long since their lands were too near their pack.
“You don’t need to worry about them. I will make sure that no one will ever talk back to you. I hope that you will think about it. Aside from that, the party is a great help for your pack. You can find someone who wants to be your ally,” he added. She nodded her head, and she was thinking about what she would do next.
If she accepted the invitation, there was a great chance that she would meet Jaxon. She was sure that the Alpha King’s party would be ruined! She didn’t like to be the cause of it, but she swore that she would get her revenge once she became the Alpha of the pack.
