She was the Alpha of their pack now. She needed to be confident because an Alpha couldn’t be too easy to intimidate. A smile plastered on her lips before she answered, “I will go with you to the party.”
“Great! That’s the best decision that you've ever made today! I thought you would reject someone like me!” Veron finally sighed in relief, which made her cackle. She couldn’t believe that Veron was nervous that she might reject her invitation. “You will not regret it. If you’re thinking about the gown that you want to wear, I can help you with that!”
“I will ask Ava to accompany me.”
“It’s fine that you are with her to the party as long as you will come with me.”
Everything was blurry to her. She felt that everything happened so fast that she found herself choosing the gown that she wanted to wear. Ava was arching her brow while she watched her try to choose the gown for herself.
“Are you sure that it’s fine with you if they might see you too early? Veronica, did you even think about it?” she asked.
“Yes, I’m sure. The party is great, and this is my chance to make them see how they failed to kill me,” she answered. She didn’t mind if her sister didn’t call her Alpha, especially when they were alone. “I don’t need to wait for so long. I want to start what I wanted to do.”
“I’m only thinking about your safety. Alpha Jaxon is more powerful than you know right now. It seemed that he would be the next Alpha King, even without the Alpha King’s support. Maybe that’s the reason why the Alpha King decided to have a party. He wants to have powerful allies.”
“What do you mean, Ava? But he’s the Alpha King; is it a little bit weird that he loses his allies because of a simple, heartless man like Alpha Jaxon?” She felt disgusted when she uttered his name. She was curious about what happened when she left for so long.
“A simple, heartless? He’s not like that. You’re describing him as if he were some sort of ant! We didn’t know what happened, but Alpha Jaxon seemed to want to take the throne by force. He‘s too silent when he moves, and we find out that he has a lot of allies all over the world. I heard some say that the Alpha King isn’t doing his job too well, and there is an abuse of power.”
She was puzzled. The Alpha King was too intimidated when they met, but he didn’t see that the Alpha King was abusing his power, whatever it might cause. She sighed and felt discouraged. She didn’t like to know that Jaxon had been better, and it seemed that she needed to fight with him.
“It seems no one can beat Alpha Jaxon. He’s too clever and not to easy to deceive.” Ava added.
She stared at the red, revealing dress. She gnashed her teeth with so much irritation. No one could beat Alpha Jaxon. She would do anything to win him over.
“Let’s see. We didn’t know the weakness of someone was that we were looking at a different view. It’s better to know what his weakness is before you attack him.” She commented that it made Ava gasp.
“Veronica, don’t you dare do whatever is in your mind. You will regret that you played with fire with him.” Ava seemed worried about what she had said,which stunned her.
“What do you mean?”
“Are you trying to tell me that you will use your identity as his ex-mate to play with him? Did you think that he’s too dumb not to notice your intention?” Ava exclaimed.
She paused and hid the smirk on her lips. She didn’t think to seduce him, but Ava gave her an idea. She shook her head because she might puke once Jaxon touched her body again.
“That’s not what I mean, Ava. What I’m telling you is that he has a weakness, and it’s possible that he didn’t have one!”
“Cut the crap! Don’t ever do that.” There was a warning in Ava’s tone.
She acted like she didn’t hear what Ava had been telling her, which made Avatryd so hard to hide her disappointment. She took the scarlet dress that she chose and gave it to Ava.
“I want someone who will make sure that I am the most beautiful woman in the party.”
Ava didn’t have the strength to fight with her, especially now that she was the Alpha. She took the dress that she gave her and chose some of her accessories.
There were a lot of guests who wanted to have the chance to talk with Jaxon. They were all waiting for the right time, especially since there was a line for him. The Alpha King tried his best to maintain his smile while he was watching Jaxon in the corner.
“Helene, didn’t I tell you to do everything to get Alpha Jaxon in your hands? Did you see how he stole the spotlight from me?” He shrieked and gripped the goblet in anger.
