Eve paused, she heard the two voices and her body shivered. She looked up and saw them.
One was Annie floating in the air next to Adrian, the other was her little brother standing even further away.
She smiled bitterly, " I didn’t want you to see me like this." She whispered softly but Cane heard her.
This was the second time he was seeing her after eight years, the first he refused to believe it thinking he was just dreaming.
That was further confirmed by him trying to bring out the ghosts of his parents from the amulet and it didn’t work.
What he didn’t know was that they were slumbering, that was to prevent them from turning into vengeful spirits.
That happened a lot to ghosts after spending some years in the world of the living without passing on.
" Why..why is it you?" Annie asked still refusing to believe the dreadful vessel of the Bloody Mary was her friend.
Annie remembered how kind Eve was, she couldn’t believe Eve would willingly kill so many people.
She gritted her teeth, " No, I don’t believe this, you’re not her, you’re not Eve, you’re just an imposter."
Annie was crying now, Adrian pulled her close and watched Eve with guarded and hostile eyes.
Eve smiled bitterly, " Adrian, it’s good to see you again, I guess the tables have turned, I’m the stronger one now."
She giggled obviously trying to lighten the mood but nobody was in the mood to laugh with her.
Annie was angry and Adrian felt like killing Eve as a result and as for Cane, he was genuinely confident.
" By the way, I’m still grateful to you Adrian and lady Meggie, for saving me and my family back then."
She saw her brother’s eyes widening and she knew the seal has been broken, his memories returned.
He looked at Adrian then at Meggie before turning her attention to her sister. " Big sister what’s happening here?" He asked softly.
" It’s going to be fine Cane, big sis will fix everything, I’ll make everything okay again, I promise you that."
Her words made Meggie frown, " You can’t be that foolish girl, do you know how many will die if you do this?"
Meggie growled and Eve turned her cold eyes towards her, " All those with a good conscience will live, only the guilty will be punished."
" Are you truly that foolish? Conscience? Do you have any idea how feeble that is? Tell what if a child blames themselves for a car accident that killed their parents.
What if somebody blames themselves because they couldn’t stop someone in time from taking their lives.
Things aren’t black and white girl and all those people, all those people who blame themselves merely because they care too much will perish.
And let me ask you, even though the death of your parents was not your fault, aren’t you blaming yourself as we speak."
Eve’s shoulders quivered but she took a deep breath and her eyes grew colder, " You know nothing of my parent’s death."
Her cold voice made even her brother shiver, he looked at her floating above the 12 rings of 12.
And he realised, he couldn’t recognise the woman standing in front of his eyes, she looked like his sister but it was not.
Cane was not an idiot, while it was hard to believe, he could tell everything happening was as real as real could get.
From the conversation he could glesm pieces and this Eve was intending to so something that will kill many people.
He might’ve been a kid when his family was broken and he lost everything but he very much remembers how his sister was.
She might’ve been moody and acted cold towards him but she cared, he knew that much and she was kind.
" Wh..who are you?" He asked softly because he couldn’t believe this person was his loving sister.
Eve looked at him with sadness, " I know it’s hard to understand right now but someday everything will make sense.
Someday you’ll understand why I had to do this, for us." Her words just made him angrier.
" She’s lying to you, you know that right? She’s manipulating you, to her you’re nothing but a disposable meat suit." Meggie told her.
Eve just smiled, " She’s not lying and I know what I am. I don’t care what happens to me as long as my wish is fulfilled."
’ Damnit, this girl is stubborn, even with her brother and best friend in front of she still refuses to stop.’ Meggie cussed in her head.
Before they could react the Grieved Souls started weeping again, the man screamed in agony.
They watched as his eyes started melting and we’re powerless to stop it. Meggie used her domain.
The eight pillars rose from the ground but as soon as the domain formed it was crushed into dust.
Eve’s own domain spread out but it avoided his brother and Annie, Adrian was not so lucky.
Obviously her feelings towards him were not as positive. "Do not think it will be like last time, I’ve gained better control of my domain now."
Eve spoke to Meggie while trying to crush her with her domain. Without her own, Meggie couldn’t resist.
Especially considering Eve’s domain had turned into semi-divine realm, it was much stronger than hers.
Meggie gritted her teeth and cast a spell but it was so weak it fizzled out in the blink of an eye.
Ghosts rose from all around them and converged towards them. Instead of attacking Cane they stood protectively around him.
They didn’t attack Annie or Adrian either but they were closely watching them. Adrian knew attacking here would be a terrible idea.
He couldn’t even use his domain, the difference was so huge his domain would crumble like a sand castle.
So he waited and watched, the Grieved Souls grew stronger and their wails louder, the man was dying faster as well.
Meggie cast spell after spell to no availz eventually she turned to Fiona who was already drawing her bow.
A think barely visible film glowed over her skin like armour, this was her domain, known as a warrior’s domain.
Unlike normal domains it doesn’t spread out but stick to the skin providing armour like defence while enhancing all physical aspects as well physical type abilities.
The one advantage it had over the other domain was tenacity, breaking a warrior’s domain was much harder.
Fiona grinned, she truly felt excited. " I guess it’s just between us then."
