Falling for two alphas Chapter 18

I spin on my heel, thinking like hell I need to get out of here as soon as possible before anything happens and I find myself in trouble.

As I was being to move, Emily stopped me from leaving by telling me that I shouldn't be leaving because my aunt will come any second.

" Don't worry about me, I will talk to an aunt on my own and you know I am feeling tired I need some sleep and I was just asking for your phone, mine got lost somewhere. I need to call my brother Caden."

" We don't have phones and only ma'am has a phone in her office back in the house secondly, we aren't allowed to go there."

" Why you aren't allowed to go there?"

" Aisling there are some rules that we are bound to follow."

I look unfazed because, for my whole life, I was following the rules made by my father. I can understand their situation and I don't want to get them in any trouble because of me. I guess we don't have much difference.

I remain quiet and thought, I need to find a way to talk to Caden. He would be worried about me as I worried about them.

All of a sudden, I heard a growling sound from behind me, loud, violent. Emily glanced over my shoulder and she looked terrified I gathered the courage to turn around to see what was happening.

I was horrified when I saw his face. His wicked black eyes pierced my soul in a manner so familiar to me that, in the past, it would have caused my heart to be seized by sheer terror.

Steel gray claws extended from the wolf’s large black paws. Black fur with silver tips stood straight up. The wolf’s long snout cringed. His lips were tight and pulled forward. Its ears were pointed slightly forward. The wolf’s forehead, neck hair, and hackles were raised. Ivory teeth appeared between the jaws, its tongue moved around its mouth, and saliva dripped from its lips. The wolf snapped stepping closer to me.

" Jasper, step back from Aisling," Emily ordered him but he was in no way near to taking anyone's orders.

My heart was coming out of my ribcage and I slowly took a step back from him and he growled again.

" JASPER! STOP IT! YOU ARE SCARING HER. THIS DOESN'T EVEN LOOK FUNNY." Emily hissed and he growled at Emily.

He came even closer to me and that's when Emily told me, " Aisling, RUN! RUN! FAST!"

Jasper leaped towards me and I made a run for the exit. Run, I said to myself. Run until your lungs collapse, until the wind whips and snaps at your tattered clothes, until you're a blur that blends into the background.

Run, Aisling, run faster, run until your bones break and your shins split and your muscles atrophy and your heart die because it was always too big for your chest and it beat too fast for too long and you run.

Run run run until you can't hear their feet behind you. Run until they drop their fists and their shouts dissolve in the air. Run with your eyes open and your mouth shut and dam the river rushing up behind your eyes. Run, Aisling. Run until you drop dead. Make sure your heart stops before they ever reach you. Before they ever touch you.

Run, I said.

I run at full speed and tried to transform into my wolf but I don't think she is ever coming out of me and I cranked my neck out to see if jasper was following me and he was chasing me down and behind him was Emily and Benny making him stop him.

I took a sudden turn into the small alley as I heard Emily and Benny catch Jasper.

An icy sea breeze guttered down the night-darkened lane, blowing scraps of parchment through skeletons of broken crates and barrels.

I looked up into the wind-torn sky letting the freezing downpour run across my face. The clouds writhed, intertwining masses of black and gray briefly illuminated by flashes of lightning that boomed through the night like evil laughter. The cold wind clawed at me wounds like icy talons. The dilapidated buildings and peasant shanties around me looked like rat-chewed doll houses.

The temples were hunched like sleeping behemoths beneath the angry sky. The ornate marble spires and golden domes looked dingy in the squall. I fell against a wall as a gust nearly blew me over. Leaning into the gale, slushy water stung my face and deadened my lips.

I caught my breath and tear begins to drip down my face and I cried a lot.
