As I turn around to find Benny coming from downstairs when I caught up in hearing aunt I don't hear his footsteps. I give him the most awkward smile because I was so nervous that he might see me sneak on them.
" What are you doing?" he asked me.
" Who are you to ask me questions? Don't you remember we don't to each other?" I answer with a hint that I am annoyed by him and he moves toward me. Looking into my eyes like he is trying to find something in them.
" What are you doing standing outside of jasper's room? And don't lie to me."
" I am not lying! and you are doing the same thing again with false accusations. And I was just calling him because my aunt call everyone. By the way, I can ask you the same question what are you doing in here?"
" I came to call my brother but I guess, he had someone to care about him more than me." He said while smirking and which makes me extremely mad but I control my anger because I don't want my aunt to know that I am listening to them. I decide to leave without engaging with him.
" I don't want to hear you are senseless made-up things. I am leaving you with your baseless shit! I told him and make my down on the stairs like nothing ever happens.
But I know, this is not how everything works. suddenly, a layer of fear spread across my body, and my heart beat fast. I held my breath, a desperate attempt to slow down my heartbeat, a desperate attempt to get away. One second later, I almost crashed into the door frame, gasping for air. I tried to calm my nerves and enter into the formal living room where I saw jagger and Ray sitting on the couches.
" Where is Emily?" I asked them because I didn't see her there. And Ray, quick to answer.
" She is coming. And you can have a seat with us." Ray offer me to sit with him. And I guess he doesn't want to get influenced by Benny. He is just pretending in front of him but I know he wants to be friends with me. I move towards him and that's when Emily enters into the room and looks around at us.
" Where are Benny and Jasper? she asks us.
"They were upstairs when I saw them. I think they are coming downstairs." I answered him.
" Okay, and ma'am still hasn't come yet? she ask me and I nodded my head no.
She came inside the room and sat down across from me and Ray. And she was looking me straight ahead and I don't know why? but she kinda gave me strange gestures like clearing her throat to catch our attention.
Until, aunt enters the living room, and behind her were Benny and jasper. Aunt's gaze immediately finds me and she asked me, " Where you were Aisling? I was looking for you in your room."
" She was with me, Ma'am," Emily responded I don't understand why she lied to her. I wasn't with her but then why she doesn't want to see me in trouble?
Aunt's gaze shifted from me to Emily who quickly stood up and aunt asked her, " where you two at? I've told you to do something."
" We were at the garden and I informed everything of everyone. But I couldn't find a Jasper."
" Jasper was with me and are we missing anyone?"
She looked around the room and find everyone there. We all got up from our place and stood in a line next to each other.
" You all wanna know why I call you all here? she begins to address us and I turn to look at jasper's face which was looking in great distress. I find it to be concerning because I don't know what aunt told him and what made him look worried.
" I am going to pack a meeting and I will be back by tomorrow night. Until then, no one is allowed to take a step out of the house. No training. And to make sure everyone is following the rules. I made in charge Benny."
A shock that comes over me so quickly and strikes so deep that the blow is internalized even before the skin feels it. The strike first reaches bone marrow, then ascend slowly to the brain where the slowpoke intellect records the deed.
Terror had me all for a moment, and it ravaged me, and when it was finished, the shock had its way with them, and left me cold and helpless.
She can't leave me alone not when my life is in danger. I can't protect myself alone.
" You can't leave me alone." I reacted impulsively.
" What do you mean? you are not alone. Everyone is with you and I will be back by tomorrow. You are not a child." she said.
" Don't worry, Aisling. we are with you. You don't need to be afraid." Benny added and I looked in his direction. He was grinning in a wild way. which made me uncomfortable.
" See, I told you, everybody's with you and I am leaving right now and Benny you come with me. I need to tell you something," she said and Benny nodded.
But before I could stop her or say anything. Jasper said, " Aisling, I couldn't find a book in the library. Would you help me to find it?"
" Aisling, come on go with jasper." Aunt said.
" Umm, sure," I said and my aunt looked at me and I was thinking I don't want to go with him alone maybe he wants to kill me. Oh, God! why did you put me in this situation? please, God protects me from this. I want to cry.
