"What?" he seemed surprised at my sudden reaction.
"I saw a falling star! Wait,"
I clasped my hand together to make a wish. I shut my eyes and whisper words inside my head. 'I wish moments like this would not stop.' I smiled and opened my eyes and look at the part of the sky where I saw the falling star.
"I saw it there!" I point to where.
He hissed. "Are you a child who still believes in those?"
I pouted. "Why? Nothing is lost if you believe."
"It's called science, Jade."
"Blah blah blah," I mocked him and I heard him chuckled again.
"I know it's science. But some phenomena are just being interpreted as science. Not everything is about science." I reasoned out. I don't even want to lose.
"Uh-huh? And what do you call that then?"
"Falling stars who makes wishes come true. Maybe God really made a way to send those stars so that people who will see it will have the chance to make a wish."
"And when it's not fulfilled, what? It's still the stars' fault?" he mocked.
"That's not the point." I said not thinking much to say.
"The fault is not on our stars, Jade. It's on our selves." he whispered.
My eyes widened at what he said. I leaned my head on his and looked up at him. He look down on me with this handsome smile on his face.
"That's from Caesar, by the way." he smirked the look at the stars again.
I ignored that. I touched his nape and look at him deeply.
“You’re so handsome,” I said.
Just like crazy, dead dead to him. He look down on me again with his serious look. I smiled lightly.
"I know it's not the stars' fault. But I'm hoping ... that times like this would not have an end. And if it's not gonna happen, I've no regrets of believing." I said.
His jaw moved in a harsh way. He was so serious, I couldn’t read his mind. I kissed his chin because that's how far I can reach. I felt the heaviness of his breathing, because of the movement of his chest.
"You will never be a regret, Erato." I smiled to him.
Anything, anywhere ... as long as he's putting interest in me I won't have any regrets. At least once in a lifetime I felt him, a far dream that is almost happening. Even if it doesn't end the way I want, the important thing is that he is part of the story. That's by far the most dreamy summer I ever had. The next day we returned to Manila again.
"Yaya," I called without any strength.
"Yes ma'am?" answer who's on the phone. I shut my eyes feeling the extremely painful aching in my abdomen.
"Please bring me hot compress and my medicine for cramps, please?"
I said with hoarse voice. I hate this. I hate it when it's my time of the month. It's only once in a few months to have it and this is still happening. I'm irregular. Last year I checked up with the OB and she told me that it's just normal. These are just common cases, especially at my age, they will also change over time.
"Here it is, ma'am."
I reached for what it was carrying and forced myself to treat myself. Damn it! What girls would go through just to bear life in this world. Fvck it. I fell asleep again because of the pain I was feeling. The nanny just woke up again when she knocked again to invite me to lunch.
"Bring my food here. I'll eat here."
I don't have the strength to even go downstairs, so after I ate I fell asleep again. That's good only when I woke up the pain wasn't that bad. That's how my time of the month goes on every time. I already had the strength to get out of the room to get some fresh air. Wearing an oversized white shirt and a boyleg I went outside.
I just tied my hair in a messy way, I’m still not taking a bath. I peeked into dad’s office because I saw its door ajar. I was just really gonna peak but when I saw who's inside my breath hitched.
Damn. He's here? I came inside the door.
The first eye that landed on me was Daddy's, followed by my older brother and the last was Erato.
"Jade," dad called me. I walked inside and came to dad. I could feel Erato's sharp gaze as his older brother read something on the papers in front of him.
"What happened? Are you fine now?" said dad and removed the glasses from his eyes. I embraced him, and he did the same. He's busy a while ago but halted when he saw me. I love him so much.
"Yeah. I'm feeling better. I'll go downstairs to get some air." I said to him.
"Alright, alright." I smiled and turned my back on them, my eyes even caught Erato's strong gaze.
Nothing, I just want to pay as much attention. I hung out on the Lanai. Our small pool is open air and income. Alas and too hot for the sun. I just called Olivia for so that I wasn’t just miserable.
"Go home now please," I pouted video calling her. "
We have a week here and we're going home, because mommy extended it and there was a business matter all of a sudden." I sighed.
Eventually I turned off the call as well. I was wondering what I could possibly do for the rest of the summer week. Olivia is not here, but that doesn't mean I'm just gonna rot in here until summer ends. "
You're sick?" I was still fast at 4 o'clock.
A smiled appeared on my face. I stood up and almost jumped into him but realized that somebody might see us.
"You didn't join lunch." he uttered seriously. I glanced at him first before I answered. He's wearing simple casual clothes.
"I'm fine now."
His lips are in grim line. He nodded slightly.
"Next time don't come into your dad's office if you're wearing that." My brows furrowed. I look at myself.
"Huh? What's wrong with me now?" He just stared rudely.
"So that's always how you work? You'll just come in as long as you're wearing it?" he asked again.
"What? Of course not, I went in there because I knew you were the only ones there." He hissed at my answer.
I pouted, "What were you talking about there? Why are you and your older brother with them now?"
His eyes bore on me. For the first time I saw a different reaction on his face. Seems like hesitant to speak.
"Just, nothing to do with you." I rolled my eyes.
"Of course, it's nothing to do with me! Why should I join your conversation." I growled at him.
He chuckled, "It may happen."
"Tss, like about what then?"
He pursed his lips hiding a ghost of smile on his lips.
"Me asking your family for you hand?" he jokingly said.
My face flushed at what I heard.
Out of nowhere? What? I slapped his chest. He laughed at me, seemingly overjoyed at my reaction.
"Fvck. Looking so happy,” he laughed.
Its not funny. That dream is not funny.
