Leah wasn't sure why she felt a little pain when Adam informed her that Damon was one of the enemies. She realized why Adam was glaring at Damon when he was in her pack. She wanted to deny what her cousin told her, but she would waste her energy debating with her cousin. She couldn't believe that Damon had done that to her; she thought Damon was treating her as his friend.
“What are you talking about, Adam? What did you see in him?” Leah's tone cracked when she felt a solid thing stocked in her throat. She thought she had finally lost a brother or maybe, a best friend.
“Are you undoubtedly sure about this? Adam, he's my friend,” she added.
She held that whole when she felt that her vision was spinning. She was too hurt to accept that Damon didn't even love her as his friend or maybe acquaintance.
“He's mated with Anaya. And I saw everything that he planned to kill Amoux and steal the throne using Anaya.” Adam moved closer to her and helped her to sit on the couch. Leah closed her eyes when she felt her eyes moist.
“I can't believe this! I thought Damon was so true when he was in front of me!” Leah screamed in frustration. She massaged her forehead when she felt her head aching. She was gasping as if she couldn't breathe properly.
“Alpha Leah, did you know that a man can do anything for his love? Even though, in the end, he will slaughter all the people he thinks will stop him from claiming the one he loves.” Adam said. There was sadness in his tone, for he wanted to be angry at Damon, but he couldn't stop himself from feeling disappointed that he was doing everything for Leah.
“I don't think there's someone like that! Adam, if I am in love with someone who doesn't love me, maybe, I will stay away from him.” Leah didn't even feel that Adam about Damon. All she thought was that she was heartbroken that Damon had broken her trust for real.
“You're talking about yourself, Alpha Leah. But, what I am referring to are those people who had those kinds of perspectives. Maybe, you can't do that, but there's a man who can do anything to have the woman that she loves the most, even if it causes him great pain. That man didn't even experience how love worked; who he would do what he loved was in his mind. And the love he knew was to become selfish and possessive to the woman he possessed.”
“And, I felt terrible for the woman that he obsessed with, for it will cause her a lot of pain, seeing those around her die because of her,” he continued.
Tears slowly formed in her eyes after she heard what Adam had told her. She blinked several times when she felt tears slowly flowing down her cheeks. She doesn't want to cry in front of her cousin. She was confused about why she felt that Adam was referring to her.
Leah gritted her teeth in frustration, for she knew she was too emotional because of her pregnancy. Aside from that, she was too hurt and felt distressed that maybe, there were a lot of people who would get killed because of her.
“P-Please, tell me that it wasn't me. Adam, I don't want that to happen because of me,” she whispered. She hid her face using her hands when she started sobbing.
“I didn't like to lie to you, Alpha Leah. But you don't need to stress yourself because I mentioned two people. They're too obsessed with the one they like.”
“What should I do? I don't want them to die because of this!”
“You should stop trusting them, but you need to be innovative. You should be like a serpent and dove; always remember that. Alpha Leah, I want you to remember that those numerous lives are in your hands. Please prepare yourself for I think there's a future war again.” Adam stopped when his forehead ceased as if he remembered something.
“Did you check yourself? Aside from that, you discovered that you're pregnant. Did you let the doctor run a test on you?”
“No, I didn't. And I think there's nothing wrong with my body; that's why I don't inform the doctor to run a test on me.” Leah answered. She didn't realize that she was slowly caressing her belly.
“We need to check everything. I saw Damon talking to Anaya.” Leah turned her head to Adam. She felt anxious that Adam would report something terrible about her.
“Why, Adam? I want to know why you are pushing me to get my body tested. Adam, please, I want to know everything. What did Anaya tell Damon that you saw?”
“Anaya mentioned that she successfully put a disease inside of you.” Leah was taken aback. Her mouth hangs open, and it looks like her world stopped spinning for what he said.
“You're joking! No, this wasn't true! Why don't I even feel a disease inside my body?”
“Are you sure that you didn't even notice that there was something wrong with you? Alpha Leah, I ask if you always collapse when using your ability.”
“When I was in the Nightwalker, I didn't even lose consciousness whenever I used it.” She answered. Tears continued flowing down her cheeks, and she didn't know what to think. She was happy that she was pregnant and she will be a mother soon, and now she regretted being a mother for her child will be left without her.
She experienced how to fight in this world. Since the moment that her parents died because of the disease, she swore that if she were a mother, she wouldn't let her child experience what she suffered.
“That explains that the disease was slowly spreading in your body, Alpha Leah. That's why we need to test you, so we should do anything to cure you.”
“This illness didn't have a cure!”
“There's a lot of healers in this world, Alpha Leah. You shouldn't quit because of that; you should learn how to fight.”
“Adam, I don't want to die. What about my baby?” Leah aggressively shook her head. She couldn't accept that she might die once she used her ability again.
“You will be safe. For now, we need to search for the traitor here. I need to check the members here to find who put a disease in you.”
Leah and Adam decided to go out to her office. Worry was too evident on her face that even her Betas recognized it, which made them worried about her. They all know that Leah is pregnant, and even though they think that maybe it is part of the symptom of her pregnancy, they can't stop themselves from asking her.
“Alpha Leah, are you alright? Is there anything wrong?” Kairo quickly interrogated her, for his mate was getting mad at him for not rapidly asking their Alpha.
“I-I'm alright. But, Kairo, please announce that I need all the members at the training ground tomorrow.” Leah said out of nowhere.
Kairo and Almera glanced at each other because they thought Leah was acting strange. They thought that maybe there was something they didn't even know.
“Alpha Leah was acting strange, honey.” Kairo asserted, using the mind link with his mate.
“Seriously, honey! I noticed that, too. Do you think that I might be stupid or else? I am here, too! Do I look visible, huh?” Almera sarcastically answered. She glared at Kairo, who was busy scratching his head at how sarcastic she was.
“Well, I think you didn't even notice it. That's why I told you.”
“I can't believe you. I can't wait to kick your freaking balls. You think so low on me, and I don't want you to sleep beside me.”
“Almera, I can't believe you! I'm just kidding, and of course, you're aware how odd Alpha Leah was today!” Kairo's voice was full of resignation to his pregnant wife. He remembered that the doctor informed him that a pregnant woman wolf was too moody, and when they want a thing, they will need to get it even though it's too impossible.
“But, I'm not joking here. You're making me feel more irritated!”
“Oh, please, do you want me to lick your hole while your body is trembling because of the orgasm?” Kairo immediately used his last card. He doesn't want to sleep outside their bedroom, so he would do anything for Almera to please her. Even though, sometimes, he wanted to give up on how Almera wanted him every night.
“Okay, I loved that, honey!” Kairo sighed in relief when Almera agreed to what he said. He even tapped his chest and breathed again.
Almera cleared her throat when her face flushed in embarrassment. She couldn't believe that Kairo had used their sex card to please her. She glanced at Leah, who was staring at the wall for a long time.
“Alpha Leah,” she called her, but Leah didn't even hear her voice. Almera's forehead ceased, and she was hoping that she could read Leah's mind.
“Alpha Leah,”
“Alpha Leah!” When she shouted her name, Leah was stunned. She immediately moved her eyes back to Almera, who had a frown on her face.
“What is it? I'm sorry, I am not too attentive, and I'm too preoccupied.” Leah wanted to share everything with Almera, but she didn't want her to stress herself.
“I am your Beta, and I'll promise to support you in the end, right? Alpha Leah, how would I do that? I didn't even know what was going on.” Almera went forward to her place. She patted her shoulders to let her know she was always with her.
“You should tell us everything. Seriously, I am mad at you because it was Adam who found out first that you're pregnant. I'm your bitch friend and your slutty sister.”
Leah couldn't stop herself but scowled at Almera's exaggerated remarks. She rolled her eyes even though Almera could even see it.
“Almera, I will forget what you said. Please, you should train yourself to be a lovable mother to your child.” Leah shook her head and pouted her lips.
“I am a lovable and sexy mother to my child. If I wasn't mated to Kairo, I might still be dating random men.” Almera winked at her, but Kairo growled as if he was trying to stop his mate, for she might be planning.
“Almera!” Kairo shouted her name. His eyes were furious, but they faded when Almera looked at him using her murderous glare. He slowly gulped, for it was his hidden weakness. He loved seeing how fierce Almera was, and now, he wanted to grab her and give her a passionate kiss.
“Are you mad at me, honey?” Almera raised her eyebrows, so Kairo slowly jerked his head.
“Almera, you don't need to worry about me. Don't worry; I will do anything to make myself still live and kick.” Leah sadly promised her.
“Then, I think that I need to be worried about it. Please, Alpha Leah! Tell me your problem and I will help you.”
“I don't want to burden you, to all of you. You're pregnant and shouldn't stop stressing yourself; think about your baby!”
“Bullshit! Alpha Leah, I'm taking care of myself, and you don't need to worry about even my baby and me. I'm still your Beta.”
Leah silently nodded.
“Then, start telling me everything. I thought we were family here; you always said that you treated us like your family, but why do you keep hiding a lot from us? Did you truly trust me?”
“I'm sorry.” Leah's tears came out in her eyes which made Almera stop.
“Come on, tell us. What are you sorry for?”
“Almera..”
“No! I want to know about it. I'm your friend.”
“I'm dying. I think I'll be dead sooner.” Almera's eyes widened in shock, and her eyes formed tears after she heard those words.
